WHY YES I WOULD LIKE TO WAIT 4 HOURS FOR MY DISHES TO BE CLEANED! AND I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THE TERRIBLE NOISE THEY MAKE WHILE AT IT
>>
It's kind of miraculous though. You put things in dirty and they come out clean without you having to debase yourself with handling filth. If only there was something like that for the soul.
>>
Mine is surprisingly quiet but it takes an hour and a half.
I would handwash but I'm tall and hunching over the sink hurts. My wife and kid do some dishes by hand but most of them go in the dishwasher
>>
>>21681563
Get a better dishwasher poorfag.
>not being able to go 4 hours without needing a dish
How fucking fat are you?
>>
>start dishwasher
>go in another room
don’t tell me you’re too poor to have more than one room
>>
Right? What thr fuck is with dishwasher users. Just wash by hand, much quicker, can use any dish right after, and you know for sure they're clean/don't have to reclean anything.

>>
>>21681563
Does yours not have a short wash option? Our dishwasher is a pretty cheap model (like $400, came with the house) and it has a "1 hour wash" option that works for 99% of our loads.
>>
>>21681595
>I used to haul a refrigerated trailer so to me the background noise of the dishwasher running actually helps me sleep too.
I'm sure it also helps all the people who lived within the vicinity of the grocery stores you were delivering to, while you sat idling for 4 hours in the back lot.
>>
>4 hours

I put it on 35 mins, they come out perfectly clean
>>
Mine isn’t that new and takes like an hour and a half or two hours depending on the settings
>>
>>21681563
Good dishwashers have a sanitize option that heats the water up to ~120-150F over a long wash cycle which would scald you if you tried to do it by hand.
>>
I just run it at the end of the day then go to sleep. I wouldn't care if it took 8 hours

I STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH YOU AND PREFER TO WASH MY DISHES IMMEDIATELY AFTER USING THEM WITH A DISH WAND.

WHY ARE WE YELLING?
>>
>>21682172
This is the reason why I think dishwashers are peak boomer. You have to prep the plates before you put them in the dishwasher, and you have to scrape the plate off before you rinse it in the sink , so why don't I just take an extra 2 seconds to wipe my plate off with soap and eliminate one more needless appliance in my house? I understand if you have a restaurant or something, but I eat like 3 times a day so what 2 minutes to wash all my cookware? Plus when they break it sucks and they become a roach/mosquito magnet and can cause a lot of water damage.
>>
>>21682930
>You have to prep the plates before you put them in the dishwasher
you don't, that anon is just retarded
>and you have to scrape the plate off before you rinse it in the sink
you have to do that even when washing by hand
>extra 2 seconds to wipe my plate
your plate isn't clean
>what 2 minutes to wash all my cookware
bit disingenuous to call it 'cookware' when you just order everything in / eat premade crap
>Plus when they break
you fix it.
>>
>>21682930
You don't have to "pre-wash" dishes, you just toss it all in there
The dishwasher also sanitizes
I actually hate that my in-laws don't use the dishwasher "to conserve water" like wtf you installed a God damn sprinkler system you're not conserving shit and you use the same gross can opener to open up cans of dog food
Just put everything in the dishwasher even if it didn't only use a gallon and a half of water per cycle it's cleaner than any hand-washed bullshit and not a single person I have ever met who hand-washes dishes actually sanitizes them
Tell me you sanitize your dishes and then I'll accept your hand-washing bullshit
>>
>>21682930
Really what it stems from is I grew up with boomer parents who had a bunch of nice shit that they became too poor to maintain, yet were too prideful to just throw away because a home that wasn't packed to the gill with knick-nacks was social suicide.

So now in my place I constantly go through my shit and I ask myself what is the purpose of this item, instead of worrying about how much I paid for it 20 years ago.

>You have to prep the plates before you put them in the dishwasher
False. Doing that actually makes then less likely to clean well in the dishwasher because of how the detergent works. It's not like liquid dish soap. It's enzymatic and needs something to latch onto and dissolve to clean the plates. It otherwise can leave a film, especially on plastic.
>you have to scrape the plate off
False. See above.
>you have to… rinse it in the sink
False. See above.
>why don't I just take an extra 2 seconds to wipe my plate off with soap
Can't argue with that point, though. I can clean a load of dishes faster than the dishwasher can but my aching fucking back hunching over to do them, man.
>when they break it sucks and they become a roach/mosquito magnet
Not inaccurate, exactly, but just get it fixed before the roaches and mosquitoes catch wind.

>>

Dishwasher are non-essential and we all know it. I would much rather have an extra deep freezer desu, but the Jew doesn't want goys to have a years supply of meat, he would rather them have an extra machine that needs detergent, electricity, replacement parts, and a plumber when you discover it it leaking after it is too late. I would maybe feel better about them if it wasn't normalized to hide them away in a manner that makes it impossible to tell whether it's leaking or not until it's catastrophic.
>>
>>21682962
It absolutely does not you need to wash, rinse, then sanitize, three sinks

You are actually retarded. The first thing a dishwasher does is RINSE. Detergent is released after.
>>
>>21682982
I would propose that dishwasher plate have a certain smell. But I think it's moreso people with dirty dishwashers and dirty handwash setups can cause this. People don't understand how fast mold and other water-borne pathogens spread, especially with standing water. Many people don't understand drainage. Many humans still don't deserve plumbing.

Not him, but probably the part where you think dishwasher detergent doesn't dissolve in the water used at the beginning. It's not like that powder stuff is time released or anything. Even tablets dissolve some during that first cycle. It mixes with the water as the water heats up, it sprays that shit everywhere a few minutes, drains some of the wastewater out but not completely, refills and repeats. It only drains entirely at the very end. At least in most modern models. If you're using an older one, I have no idea how yours works.
>>
>>21683412
Bruh, a friend of mine's wife did that and something happened and the dishwasher burst into flames. Thankfully, the smoke alarm went off and they were able to put it out before it got too bad but that shit scares me. We won't run it while my family and I sleep. I already had a carbon monoxide scare a few years ago. Don't need that shit to complement it.

CORRECT. Dishwashers were invented when electrical appliance companies saw washing machines took off among the middle class in the 60s. It was part of "The Jetsons" future that was touted back then. Thing is, washing clothes was a real back breaking chore, so the washing machine is justified. Dishwashers oth are plain gimmicks piggybacking on washing machines.

I have never seen a dishwasher that didn't require hand scrubbing afterwards
>>
As a dishwasher I love dishwashers
They're very convenient
>>
>>21686209
Maybe open your eyes. They're ubiquitous.

>>21685971
Zero, because they're all dead and I'm not the one using that argument

>rice cooker
I'm part Asian.
My wife is also part Asian, but different type.
She grew up with rice cookers. My Gran is from the middle of nowhere and didn't even have electricity growing up so she didn't grow up with rice cookers and, as a result, neither did my dad so I don't use them.
They're okay but my biggest gripes with the fucking things are
• how much space the internal pot thingy takes up in the dishwasher
• it can't scorch rice and
• it's generally not well suited for different varieties of rice or grain cooked together because it can't be easily opened mid-cook and if you try to cook multigrain rice stuff in there at once, something will always be overcooked or undercooked
Also, electric sharpener are only good if you're sharpening some huge fuck off blades, like when I used to get my skates sharpened in the winter when I actually still skated/played hockey

Utterly moronic

Putting the pot in the dishwasher. Pointless and dumb. It barely gets dirty, you can clean it in a half second with a sponge wipe.

Multigrain whining. If things have different cook times and are in the same pot, they are never going to all be equally well cooked no matter what device they're in. Disingenuous.

Scorching rice. What. Nobody does this shit. And you could just put the rice in sans water if you wanted to.

I am not mentally ill and a lazy bum so it would serve no purpose for me. After I am done eating I just rinse the plate and run a soapy sponge over it. Takes 10 seconds to clean the dish.
Dishwashers are for losers who throw their dirty dishes in the sink.

A dishwasher isn't just a waste of space and money, you also need to figure out the plumbing and potentially do renovations, all because you are too lazy of a mentally ill freak to just rinse the plate after eating.

Betting your plates and silverware probably have that film on them you sometimes notice at more low end restaurants or trashy relatives houses

Jesus, you've an extremely limited understanding of world cuisines. Horrifically so. If he's taking about being Asian, multigrain cooking, his grandmother not using a rice cooker because she's from the middle of nowhere without electricity and he wants to eat scorched rice, he's obviously Central Asian.
Scorched rice= tadig, a common food throughout the Persian and Turkic world.
Multigrain cooking = many varieties of plov, which would absolutely require the pot to be cleaned after because it uses meat, veg and fat in preparing the rice and grains.
No electricity and "middle of nowhere" = pretty much the default of the steppes especially if his grandmother is a boomer.
You fucking idiot.

>Nobody scorches rice
Except literally every rice eating culture that doesn't exclusively steam their rice. Koreans, Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Dirtyknese, Lookatthese and more all have scorched rice dishes.
>>
>>21686881
Lol
No

Third world trash isnt worth knowing
So its not something I would ever care or worry about
It is totally irrelevant

That's why youre speaking english on an American website using American inventions and why nobody knows or cares about third world nonsense like burnt rice lmfao

Protip: Load and run your dishwasher in a timely manner; don't let your shit dry and crust for a week you disgusting pig. Also load it correctly, you retard.
Also: If you can't fill a dishwasher within two or three days, you don't need one.
>>
>>21686809
>you also need to figure out the plumbing
Not difficult, there's a water source and a drain right there...
>>
>>21686881
>>21686899
Simmer down thirdie. You can still make burnt rice in your grass hut or whatever. Nobody's trying to stop you.
