Has anyone written their own recipe book before? I am not referring to coming up with your own recipes (although that would be incredible bonus points, I am not that creative) I usually browse Instagram & reels to find recipes for certain things and instead of saving the reels and reviewing the video each time it would be nice to write my own book of my favourites, and maybe snap a picture with a polaroid camera and stick it to the page? post photo's of your cook books
>>21682417Wtf is a reel?
I like to use (text) blog entries as recipes, so I have a bookmark folder of things I like. I tried printing a few of them out once and putting them in a binder, but I found I prefer the convenience of digital more.
Nah I usually write in excel so I can adjust the numbers easily>>21682530Some newfangled thing where you have multiple daguerrotypes on a band, I do not think it will take off!
>>21682530Videos on instagram, cringe I know. But I also get recipes from 30 million different sites on the internet and it would be nice to have all the winner compiled in one place.>>21682561>write in excel so I can adjust the numbers easilysmart
>>21682417Why would I do all this? I have a recipe app that does all that, plus it stays legible when something drips or splashes on my screen.
>>21682535>so I have a bookmark folder of things I likeSame but I also have print outs with hand written notes on the recipes>>21682996If I had nice handwriting and could draw I’d do this as something to hand down, and also as a potential wedding gift (if the person had enjoyed some of the recipes previously).
>>21684025Oh yeah, my handwriting is for shit, no doubt. But recipe apps have made all that unnecessary anyway. Now you just search for a recipe, find one to try, then use the app to pull it from the url. Ingredients, steps, images... All pulled in and organized and you can fill it on with meta tags for future searching. It may not have the oldschool charm of a handwritten book, but the functionality can't be beat.
>>21682417I have a notebook I started writing some notes in. Not really recipes just notes on preparation of some things and what to avoid doing
Some people in my family do it, pic related is my aunt jeannie's meatloaf. My chef uncle had the best one. He would draw little doodles in the margins next to the recipes. They were always of tits and penises, or of him getting drunk.
>>21684769What app do you recommend?>>21685111Was there any correlation between the type of recipe and the drawings?
Geez I try to do a family recipe thread and everyone ignores me
>>21682417>>21685111>>21686144That shit is illegible, type it up and print it out.
>>21686198You can't read cursive?
>>21686200Son, I learned cursive in kindergarten and that shit is illegible.
>>21686214Respect, thenThanks for calling me son, I still feel like a young buck most days even if I'm at the point where phones are scary (they're illegible but weren't...oh shit that was a while back)Maybe we just need better glasses
>>21682417I keep my recipes in a bunch of markdown files in my ~/Documents/Recipes folder.
>>21682996>plus it stays legible when something drips or splashes on my screen.*drops your phone in the soup*a-whoopsie, ita wasa accident!
>>21686103I've been using Recipe Keeper for a long time. I bought the paid version back when it was $5, but I think it's considerably more now. Still worth it IMO, but it's a stiff price tag I know.
>>21686369Why would you be holding your phone while cooking? Why be using your phone at all, for that matter? I use my tablet on a stand.
>>21682417>Has anyone written their own recipe book beforeNo in the entirety of human history nobody has.
>>21682417>stick it to the page? The one i received is called with love from my kitchen, it has 12 quick flip tabs.Blank index for each tab and a few recipes already thereFound the same one years later at a garage sale, thinner and less tabsI like to tape stuff to it like you mentionI also use onenote for most of my copycat stuff I find, I can add screenshots pics and text
>>21682417>Has anyone written their own recipe book before?some things are best not put into words.
>>21686493I’ll check it out, thanks!
I am writing my own book with a recipe section, and some of these are my own creations, but through AI generation. It's called The Dark Cookbook, and it will have much more in it than just cooking when im finished.
>>21682417My mom has a binder of handwritten recipes she's gathered over the years, and made me a copy of it since I've always helped her in the kitchen. Its my treasure.
>>21686999>999>sectionwhat other sections are therehow many recipes do want to see at finish>you can make mochi with a bread machine, so you should use this method no NO I can't
