Do you really need to wait 5 - 10 minutes before heating something to heat it? Really? Is there any actual purpose to preheating?
No.
>>21682811Heat is a meme anon. If your food needs heat, you're eating baby food
>>21682811depends on what your cooking but usually no.
>>21682820what food does it matter for
>>21682856Bricks for one
>>21682811to achieve a consistent result when you are following instructions to the letter without critical thought
Depends on the dish, depends on the device, depends on the cook surface. Depends depends depends. Of course it's not a meme.
If I'm reheating meat I just go fuck it and put it on the pan cold but for raw foods especially if you care about a good sear or caramelization I would pre heat the pan.
>>21682811you want the memelard reaction, if not you don't get caramel in your meat
>>21682811i once knew a retard like you. put frozen pizzas in the oven and then turned it on and set a timer. he ate cold, uncooked pizza his whole life. but to answer your question, no, you dont NEED to preheat but if you need to ask this you are also the kind of idiot that follows the cooking instruction on your premade goyfeed. actually, just kys.
>>21682811Preheating is a means in baking to ensure equal outcomes in baking times. If you know what you are doing with your equipment you can skip preheating.
>>21682811some baking is following a receipe to the letter or you are prone to fuck it up, if it's your own receipe you can design it for your oven and it won't matter
>>21682856Think of it this way, heat is transferred by conductivity, low heat transfers slow and cooks unevenly, high heat moves through the whole thing all at once. For an extreme example, crack an egg into a cold oiled pan, then turn on the convection heater, you'll see it.
>>21683642> hen turned it on and set a timer. he ate cold, uncooked pizzaWhat. Just increase the timer. My pizza never comes out cold.
>>21682811Disregard all other retards in this thread and I will tell you the real story.Preheating your oven is important because your oven blasts heat to get to its desired temperature, so the food will get no heat to as hot as possible for your oven until it gets to a proper ambient temp.Preheating your stovetop pan is important because you don't get a proper sear on foods that require preheating and meat will just boil in its juices instead.
>>21684554>meat will just boil in its juices insteadbut it's fine when sous vide does it?
>>21684655You're either trolling or too stupid to even have the difference explained to you. Possibly both.
>>21682856pizza
>>21682811Depends on what you're cooking. Some things really do benefit though.
>>21684663Definitely both
