So why is it so hard to find German food in the US? I cant walk down my street without tripping over a pizza place, a taco place, and some random asian place. But for German I have to drive an hour and a half one way just to find a restaurant that specializes in German food.
Maybe there is no market for German food in "your street"
>>21683003Yeah, OP, I get it. NYC here and our historically German neighborhood (Yorkville) has only a few German remnants left: the Schaller & Weber deli, the Heidelberg restaurant, etc. S&W is still the best place in Manhattan to go for German groceries although they're not cheap of course. And even then, certain things like the butterbrezel you can't find here, you'd have to make it yourself.
>>21683003Hamburgers are German
>>21683003Germans assimilated unlike browns. After two generations they stopped being German and started being American
>>21683100That's not quite accurate. There were so many Germans that many towns were almost exclusively populated by Germans and they had German newspapers, German speaking schools etc. Anti-German sentiment from WW1 dramatically accelerated the assimilation process.
being obviously german would have gotten your shit burnt down during the world wars
I imagine Hitler probably has something to do with it.
>>21683003Pretzels, donuts, and other baked goods. Sausages and other styles of preserved meat. Brewing beer. Coleslaw. And of course, sauerkraut.
>>21683003Didn't they mostly move to the midwest/great plains? Maybe you're not looking in the right place.
>post doesn't exist anymorelmao.OP is still a retard. hamburgers, hotdogs, and pretzels exist and are plentiful. dumbass AI posted. suck it.
Why sell food when you have actual marketable skills
Because you don't call it "German Food" you just call it "food"
OPs point stands.I cannot get a goddamn wiener schnitz within like 100 miles of me or more. Same with that great beef liver meatball soup thing. Or pork knuckle. Shit sucks, German / Austrian cuisine is my favorite. Love visiting for that reason. Beers, pork, cabbage, and potatoes for like every meal. Heaven.
You don't live where the majority of them immigrated to. It's really that simple
>>21683003try wisconsin, but dont actually, its a giant fucking trashy retarded pretentious shithole and you're better off not wasting your money
I think pennsylvanias got a bunch of krauts. Its a big country and they are free to wander.
>>21683431>You don't live where the majority of them immigrated toBut I do. I live in the midwest. So many germans moved to my city that they named part of it "the cabbage patch"
well... the Haber-Bosch ammonia production process is critical to modern fertilizer so actually ALL the food you eat is really german food :) you're welcome
>>21683444>But I do. I live in the midwest. So many germans moved to my city that they named part of it "the cabbage patch"Yup. There's a reason you can get sauerkraut as a pizza topping at Harris Pizza (QC) and Happy Joe's.
>>21683003It's not the same if it isn't prepared and eaten im Vaterland.
>>21683003Hotdogs and hamburgers are America's national foods...

>>21683514>dark rye breadI have never actually seen a picture of bread from the Anglosphere that wasn't this type of soft crust white bread. Can you post some examples of different types of bread from America?Pic related is the bread selection of the average non-chain bakery in Germany.
Sounds like a >>21683003 problem, I've got like 6 in a 20 mile radius, 3 that I would feel like driving to. Southeast Texas is historically German, my greatgreatgrandpappy has a portrait in the Capitol building and we have a family cemetery going back 200 years with German names. I'm not really German btw lol bloodline has disseminated. But point is, time to move, but not here, fuck off we're full
>>21683003Um the hamburger originated in Hamburg
>>21683021They pour in spicy cultures to replace white cultures.
>>21683120Ww2 was huge for getting rid of any and all German pride. My relatives hated Germans.
Chicken tendies are basically schnitzel.Other than the French and maybe Mexico no nation contributed more to general "American" food than the Germans
>>21683453Good lord
Don't worry guys, at this rate there will be no German cuisine or culture left anywhere in the world in the next 50 years. We're slowly being exterminated.
>>21683431>where the majority of them immigrated toGerman blood is everywhere in the US; you'll find Manns and Schmidts and whatnot from Pennsylvania to Texas and beyond. I've lived in various corners of New England, not famed for its Teutonics, and they're here too. The only states that are safe are Hawaii and Utah.
>>21683003>there are no hamburgers or hotdogs in this anons streetOk. The fish doesn't acknowledge the water that it swims in.
>>21683003>So why is it so hard to find German food in the US? I cant walk down my street without tripping over a pizza place, a taco place, and some random asian place. But for German I have to drive an hour and a half one way just to find a restaurant that specializes in German food. The short answer is that the German Americans, the largest minority in America at the time, were culturally genocided by the anglos during ww1. German Americans were put in camps, forbidden from speaking their language and practicing their customs, and forced to change their names. Prior to 1914, in every major American city there'd be a German minority community where you'd easily find German restaurants and groceries, and if this were the Midwest, the majority population would be German and you'd definitely speak German yourself even if you weren't, having picked it up from your friends during school/your parents forced you to go to a German school so you could help translate for your dad's business. This is what happens when anglos encounter other European cultures; their first instinct is to destroy them. This happens all the time, in America, South Africa, Canada I mean the list goes on: anglos will speak to dominate then destroy other European cultures and populations. That is their way.
>>21683003every single super market here has:donutssausagesrye breadpork chopsprepacked sauerkrautprepacked coleslawstrudelsprepacked spatzlegerman style beers
>>21683409That’s because it evolved into chicken fried steak. If you can’t see the obvious German influence on the culinary culture of America you might just be retarded.
>>21684636Every single super market has a shit ton of Italian, Asian, and Mexican foods too. But like the op post stated, you cant go a block without running into an Italian, Asian, or Mexican restaurant in your average American town, while German restaurants are much rarer to come by.
American's don't eat hamburgers, hot dogs or beer? Please tell me this is a low-effort troll
>>21683003Germans are the whypipo of the food world.
>>21684715There's also a lot of Asian and Mexican immigrants. German immigrants are usually middle class business types.
>>21684588And the parts of those states where they actually live/lived integrated the food into daily life to the point you can buy schnitzel varients at standard american diners.
>>21683003this is a myth
>>21683528That's also the bread selection of the average chain grocery store in the US. That sweet soft crust stuff of which you speak isn't even sold in the bakery section, it's sold in the children's snack section next to the twinkies and cinnamon rolls.
It's good to build a new identity in a new place.
>>21683100>>21683120My grandparents came here, after "surviving" the fictional Holocaust, and assimilated so hard that my dad was raised southern Baptist, as was I, and neither of us are circumcised. Gramps was super into John Wayne and redneck culture, fishing, mudding, driving big old trucks, football, everything American.

>>21683003>So why is it so hard to find German food in the US?typical troll thread:>why is it so hard to find X in Y.know what to look for.
>>21683003>hamburgers>hot dogs>delicatessen meats, cheeses, sandwiches>pretzels>coleslaw>hash browns>beer>potato salad>fried bolognaAll of these common American staple foods are of German origin. You're like a fish who can't see the water surrounding you.
Those are some swarthy looking Germans.
>>21683453Sauerkraut on pizza sounds good, maybe more so if it's a white pizza, but what the hell is going on on the other half, Cool Ranch Doritos?
>>21683003They really blended into the goyslop populace in most places, but there's some nerve centers of German population in the Midwest, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Fredericksburg and New Braunfels in Central Texas have a decent amount of solid German food for the size of those towns. If you're lucky you might even hear some old timers speaking Texasdeutschhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_German_language
>>21685880Wow you're pathetic.
You just live in the wrong place. I’ve got a half dozen German bakeries, restaurants, and markets within a short drive. Have a few Swiss and Austrian ones too.

German people are a joke to me. I think the three fags from Lebowski and the Madrigal food lab dorks on Breaking Bad. "Franch"hahaha>but our proud german traditions!no
>>21687607It’s proper English. I understand that may be unfamiliar to you. After all, your country took the language and somehow made it sound like digestive emergency noise emanating from your grotesque burger disposal cavity.

>>21687505Oy gevault moishe, how dare he assimilate unlike you
most german food is just meh when you get down to itthe only thing that's great and I wish I could find with more regularity is schweinshaxe
>>21683003Gremans eat sludge, that's why.
>>21683432We have the finest, best quality food in the whole of the US. You hate us cos you ain’t us.
>>21683003>oh no theres no poopen farten restaurants on my street
Germans assimilated more into American culture than Italians or the Chinese did. The former just became standard White Americans while the latter became hyphenated-Americans, which is why so many of them still call themselves Italian or Chinese instead of just American.
>>21686924Shut up, retard. The poster you mock is correct.
>>21688101>implying I'm a jewLmao he's pathetic because all his "assimilation" and "look I'm one of the good ones" won't change a thing.
>>21683003Ever hear of hot dogs and hamburgers?
>>21683003>"'Kommandant' Like a commander. ... I like that, that's respect..."
German food is overrated, everyone around them also have bread, potato, sausages and fermented cabbage. When they invaded Paris, French food mindbroke the common soldiers because they ate good food in their existence before. It was so bad, some would kill themselves once they knew they would go from French food to shitty belorussian pillaged food and german rations
