Are wooden dishes worth the extra upkeep for the aesthetic comfy factor alone? Want to get some but not sure if I should get this or some handmade ceramics.

If you're eating alone or with family you eat off of cheap plates that can be dropped or smashed and no problem.

If you're expecting guests and appearances matter, you use the nicer stuff.

Why not use the nicer stuff for myself? Its not like its fine china. Gotta treat yourself decently too.

Because you're just making your life harder by risking damaging your fine foods or wearing them down over time.

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I really like wooden for serving bowls but like you said they seem to require maintenance if used every day, so I don’t think I’d get wooden plates

THAT LACQUER ENDS UP IN YOUR FOOD THEN AFTER IT GOES AWAY the wood becomes porous/hard to clean.
