What is /ck/'s opinion on smoked, canned mussels on crackers as a hors d'oeuvres?
>>
Pretty good. I like most fish and shellfish in tins. I don't think I've had one I didn't like.

Are they good or bad?

Don't try canned Pilchards.
That is really bad.

I've never seen that. In NZ we get smoked or pickled mussles in plastic refrigerated containers. They are fucking delicious and I like to put some out with cheeseboards etc occasionally.

>canned mussels, oysters, scallops, etc: Big no.
>canned Deens: Yes.

Every single time Ive had any other kind of canned seafood vs sardines or fish, it's given me food poisoning. Its really luck of the draw, but I just dont trust them anymore. Eel is the closest Ive had to other kinds of tinned seafood that was also ok.

Never had them pickled, but yeah I serve them them similarly. Tasty little fuckers.

On a salty cracker with cottage cheese or feta.

we do have smoked canned oysters and mussels in almost every supermarket in the canned fish section. theyre tiny, but taste good. We also have refrigerated packets of proper smoked greenshell mussels, eg aquafresh or sealord

I was saying that while I did get nasty food poisoning everytime, I just happened to be the unlucky guy that got the bad one of the batch, most likely.
I was giving the tins the benefit of the doubt, anon. Not that hard to undsrstand.
>>
I'm intimidated by oysters for some reason even though they're basically just white mussels
>>
I liked em until I read where they are made. Now I just get images of downtown Bangkok whenever I taste that greasy, smokey, fishy flavour.

This guy gets it. I stopped buying my favourite tinned oysters after realizing where they came from.
>eating filter feeders
>from China of all places
ISHYGDDT.

I like smoked mussels (especially on crusty white bread) but I don't get the chinese canned ones.

Not a big mercury poisoning guy, personally.

So does my brother in law and sister in law both. I hate it so much.
