>>21690487There's the traditional way of opening + eating it and there's the internet way of opening it as-is in a confined space and gagging from the raw smell to get some kind of attention.Even fucking up this much has Jamie Oliver saying it's pretty good in its final package:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5CUW4bXFH8
The taste when eaten properly isn't remotely offensive. It's a condiment for the tunnbrod/potato/onion/creme fraiche sandwich youre supposed to make. The onions are usually stronger. The smell isn't even noticeable either when eaten in season and outdoors.it tastes almost exactly like filipino bagoong/ginamos.

>>21691746>eaten properlyBut that's exactly what people on Youtube/Tiktok won't do. You might as well ask "Americans react to Vegemite" to stop eating a giant spoonful of it raw out of the jar. Although even if zoomers ate it properly, they still wouldn't know how to react, because they grew up eating Grimace Shakes and PRIME and have absolutely no palate for common preserved fish like sardines and pickled herring, much less something more "exotic" like surströmming.
