Unpopular take, but I don't like toothpicks at all. They shouldn't be necessary if the sandwich is a reasonable height. And frilly toothpicks can fuck right off, just more microplastics going into the ecosystem after I throw them away (2 minutes after the sandwich shop put them in, as if the sandwich's structural integrity couldn't survive me walking 10 feet from the counter to a table).

I think they're great. Especially on stacked high sandwiches with a lot of things in them it's classic but it's classic for a reason, all that chicken and bacon and onion you might get something stuck in between your teeth that's just mildly uncomfortable. You know and you don't want to carry around dental floss or anything let alone do some major hygiene stuff at lunch with friends or family. but just taking the toothpick and subtly getting that bit of pork fat out between your molar isn't too socially frowned upon, but going into a restaurant bathroom to brush your teeth after a meal is ridiculous. Let people take quick pisses, let the staff do cocaine don't waste everyone's time flossing out the goop.
