There are some distinctions which can can be made in a few different ways. Generally, botanically, a fruit is the part of a plant which contains its seeds. Culinarily, a fruit is the part of a plant which is sweet to eat and can usually be eaten raw. Usually culinary vegetables which are botanical fruits are nightshades (peppers, tomatoes, eggplants) or vine vegetables (cucumber and squash).That said, 100% of whole parts of a plant which you can eat are vegetables, whether they are fruits or not, either botanically or culinary. You really can eat them as a culinary fruit, though most don't. They're better raw sliced with some salt as are most culinary fruits. Then they are fully culinary vegetables with enough heat because cooking them down makes them savory and umami.
