I read somewhere that if you preheat your thermos, and then add boiling water and uncooked food, after 8 hours, you can eat a thoroughly cooked meal. What foods can I cook in this thing besides rice and beans? What do you guys cook in your thermos food jars? And are there any other brands that are as good as the Thermos brands?

You can put eggs and boiling water in a thermos and they will be done by the time you get to work (20 mins)

Rice, oatmeal, corn grits are easy. Some people boil eggs in them. I imagine you could do rice and thinly sliced meat very easily for a decent lunchmeal. I personally just do rice or oatmeal. I saw some comparison videos, thermos always came out on top and they're pretty cheap.

I bought that same thermos along with the 68oz one. I have yet to use the 47oz one though. I looking into getting glass containers that fit inside since I try to avoid plastic when I can. The 32oz Mason jars fit if you dont use the stopper lid. I am hoping 2 of Balls smaller canning containers fit. When it gets colder, I am going to fill em up with chili, soups, and stews. I'll have to give the egg tech a try. I never thought of cooking in them, I have always used them to keep things hot. The 68oz keeps my tea piping hot all day. One time I left it in my car and the next evening to my surprise it was still warm.
