These little bastards have been showing up 1 at a time in my room for weeks.
>never buy fresh fruit, so that's ruled out
>emptied the trash, only candy wrappers and used tissues in there
>no open source of moisture besides a bong
I don't get it, they're not appearing in the kitchen or any other room. Don't they lay 1000's of eggs at a time? Why are they coming 1 at a time and where the FUCK are they coming from?
>>
>>21695167
Mix some old fruit and put them in a cup or bowl with soapy water if you don't have old fruit use new fruit and a little vinegar
>>
>>21695179
I don't have old fruit or new fruit cause I don't buy fruit.

I tried putting some beer with a splash of vinegar and drop of soap in a bottle to lure them, but they're more interested in buzzing around my monitor and pissing me off.
>>
>>21695192
so buy some fruit then a banana costs like 20 cents
>>
>>21695167
they could have a nest in your drains

>>
>>21695205
I'm not walking all the way to the store to spend 20 cents. The banana will in all likelihood introduce even more fruit flies.

What about insecticides? Is there something on Amazon I could get?
>>
>>21695209
Interesting. My bathroom sink drain is pretty gross. I'll try dumping some boiling water and chemicals down it.

Weird that I've never seen a fruit fly in the bathroom a single time though.
>>
They will eat the skin from your feet after you wipe them off from showering too
>>
Maybe you're the fruit huh
ever thought about that
after all, OP is always a fag
>>
>>21695192
It’s the beer. Clean up your empties out.
>>
>>21695231
such is the life of a dudeweedbro
>>
>>21695231
Omfgosh, I laughed so hard. That got me so hawt anon.
>>
>>21695167
They are probably attracted to the scent of the body of the dead girl scout under your bed.

Most incense and essential oils repel flies. Plus they make your place smell nice.
>>
>>21695232
It's not the beer. I get 2L plastic jugs, when they're empty, I leave the lid on until I clean them.

>>21695237
I don't smoke weed. I like smoking tobacco from the bong though.
>>
>>21695244
Dudeweed incense and stuff maaaaan namaste

i prefer a more direct though still mostly passive approach
get yourself one of these badboys, and then whenever you have an outbreak plug it in and turn it on then leave it alone
these sketchy chinese nightlight style ones work great to solve the issue, they do need to be cleaned pretty often if you plan to just leave it on all the time, and keep in mind they're capacitor based so when you clean them you can get a zap too

even the cleanest places can get a few of these things so no shame in keeping something more permanent than a stupid bowl of vinegar

I have a pail of potatoes in the basement. Could they be nesting there and using the ventilation shafts to get up to my room?
>>
>>21695215
maybe not boiling water but just really hot water
>>
>>21695167
You probably have an old pear or plum under your bed you forgot about
>>
>>21695279
What are you implying?
>>
>>21695167
If you're only seeing one, they have no food source and will die soon.

If you're seeing multiple, apple cider vinegar mixed with dish soap.
>>
clean your room dipshit. all the other advice is pointless the main thing you need to do is take out all your trash
>>
>>21695304
Whoa let’s not get crazy here.
>>
They might come from the outside or even from your neighbour...
In any case I prefer direct approach: have a bottle of Raid spray and every time you see one spray it directly.
I have never had any luck with vinegar+fairy or whatever else is there.
Gas the kikes.

Get a mist generator and fill it with insecticide. Keep it near your workstation and enjoy a bug free environment.
>>
>>21695237
Fuck that made me lol
Maybe OP they snuck inside from outdoors? If you have a pet that needs to go out or if you are doing grilling and things?
>>
>>21695167
fruit flies, as the name implies, are attracted to fruity individuals, so maybe try not being a faggot
>>>/lgbt/

please go back to your containment board

>If you have a pet that needs to go out
Yeah, I bet op is that sorry fucking dog faggot that always posts his disgusting dog. Bet he doesn’t clean its shit up, letting it reek even his neighbors yards.
>>
>>21695167
Tie a garbage bag to the front of a fan and place it next to a cup of ACV. Turn fan on.

>Fruit Flies

In the kitchen sink drain.
>>
>>21695167
there's more than one of them in your room, but whenever you get one fucker they send out another to annoy you
>>
>>21695537
this shit ruins your pipes (yeah its your problem if your kitchen is under water)
put a tablespoon of baking soda followed by a half cup vinegar essence down the drain and it will clean it in most cases
>>
>>21695560
ahh yes, carbon dioxide bubbles go brrrrr

Fruit flies are vegan.
>>
>>21695192
just buy a zevo fly trap or equivalent at walmart I did this and never saw another fruit fly again after like 3 days
>>
>>21695215
>My bathroom sink drain is pretty gross.
Why?
>>
>>21695682
I think its two factors:
1)Super low flow tap, the drain doesn't get properly flushed, just a moisturizing trickle of water. (had to use the shutoff valves under the sink, one of them started leaking and remains shut, and I don't dare turn the barely open one any further lest it starts leaking too.)

2) I drink home brew and rinse my mug out in the sink, so it's always getting lots of fresh yeast
>>
>>21695696
Why do you rinse it out in the bathroom?
>>
>>21695698
It's closer than the kitchen.
>>
You only notice them one at a time because they are small enough only one is in your foveal vision at a time and they have to be pretty close. There are more in your house.

I am convinced there was an outbreak in Korea. I slowly culled my apartment's population below replacement levels by leaving out a coffee carafe of 3/4 water and 1/4 white vinegar.
I think the white vinegar reduces the surface tension of the water and causes it to spread over their body & wing surfaces more easily, entrapping them. They are also attracted to the aroma of the vinegar.
A dash of dish soap may or may not help these same effects.

>>21695555
Checked. They're sneaky little buggers, sending out harassment detachments while maintaining an operational reserve.
>>
>>21695705
The vinegar has a very small effect on surface tension, probably less than 1% reduction at that concentration, the soap reduces it by 50% or more.
>>
>>21695696
it's ezpz to fix the leaking valves.
1. turn off water to house.
2. remove valves from under sink pipes.
3. use teflon tape on the threads of the pipe.
4. re-attach valves.
5. turn water to house back on.
>>
>>21695715
It's the seal inside the valve that's leaking, they're really old. They're soldered, not threaded, and it's really cramped with the toilet in front of the sink, and the valves in the back corner and only a few inches from the bottom of the cabinet.

I know how to solder pipes, but I just don't feel like digging through the basement to find my plumbing stuff, going to the hardware store to buy valves, cleaning the filth around the toilet to make the area workable, then doing the actual job. I'd rather just get drunk and continue ignoring it.
>>
>>21695720
sounds like your house is in a worse state than you're letting on
your toilet is leaking and the flies are living in the wood and potentially carpet of your nasty bathroom
old coworker of mine had the same issue sans carpet because we don't do that shit here

The complete truth.
>>
>>21695167
If they have black eyes they’re fungus gnats, for me it seems like random ones come in as it gets colder outside, and they seem to chill around bright lights
>>
I had a problem with bugs when I kept sugar in the paper bag it comes in, even when it was clipped closed and they were not getting into it or going near it. They would somehow get into sealed jello packets though.
Since keeping my sugar in a plastic container I haven't had bugs.
>>
>>21695213
You can mix borax with juice or just water and sugar and drip it around where you think they come in or leave a container.
Also reported to be good for arthritis. Lethal dose is larger than table salt.
>>
>>21695720
I mean, you COULD also do it while you get drunk.
>>
>>21695720
>soldered, not threaded
oh shit, anon.
you need new pipes.
you're being lead poisoned.
>>
>>21696866
I’m rooting for the flies now
>>
>>21695268
Yes. I had this problem a while ago, and the fruit flies were coming from the potatoes. As soon as I got rid of the potatoes they stopped spawning.
