Finland what the fuck
It might be weird straight by I'm imagining some pretty good cocktail possibilities there
>>21697167They also have one made of pine tar... Tervasnaapsi if memory serves? They drink vodka. This bullshit is to keep the tourists on their toes.
>>21697174It's a very strong flavour. This would be the kind of thing you add a barspoon of at a time. You could probably make a pretty alright old fashioned with a very robust rye, a very sweet bourbon, scorched orange peel, rich demerara syrup ... Peychauds might not be the right move anymore with this. I'm thinking four hard dashes of ango and a splash (or even a haf-shot float) of blue curacao.
>>21697175They stoled it from Greeks. >Retsina (Greek: ρετσίνα) is a Greek white (or rosé or very rarely red) resinated wine, which has been made for at least 2,000 years.[1][2] Its unique flavor is said to have originated from the practice of sealing wine vessels, particularly amphorae, with Aleppo pine resin in ancient times.[3][4][5] Before the invention of impermeable glass bottles, oxygen caused many wines to spoil within a year. Pine resin helped keep air out, while infusing the wine with resin aroma. The Romans began to use barrels in the 3rd century AD, removing any oenological necessity for resin, but the flavor itself was so popular that the style is still widespread today.[6][7][8][9]
>>21697187I like retsina. It did not prepare me for terva.
>>21697198Is terva similar tasting to Retsina but a lot more concentrated?
>>21697167would try
>>21697206Terva is to mezcal as retsina is to wine...There is no soul left of any underlying mash or juice. There is no acidity to temper it. There is only cremated pine, ethanol, and a sweetness that really doesn't belong there.
>>21697167You could say that several times
>>21697564Nice donut
>>21697167I fucking love salmiakki lakritsi had a finnish friend bring some over, gotta try this>>21697564thats just blood sausage and lingonberry jam (a few european countries do this and lingonberry on meat is very good)dont like blood sausage but nothing weird
>>21697564bloody wiener!bloody wiener!!!!
>>21697167It's delicious but consuming licorice has been unambiguously linked to decreased testosterone levels, which might explain the scandinavian rapefugee situation.
>>21697564Lack of sunlight has taken its toll on Scandinavians.
>>21697167I've never tried the salty finnish stuff, but liquorice liquor is great
>>21697167Liquid candy booze, very nice. Goes great with (vanilla) ice cream too.
>>21697183bro it's a sweet candy liqueur, you just drink it neat
>>21697174You drink it like shots. And for god's sake do not drink anything remotely apple flavored immediately after.
>>21697167>>21697175salmiakki vodka and terva are both great
>>21697564Blood sausages in any of their many forms are pretty good.I'd pass on the lingonberry jam though, never liked jam with my meats.
>>21697795an apple a day keeps the dark clerics away...FINNS ARE EVIL WIZARDS!
>>21697792bro was "imagining some pretty good cocktail possibilities there"
>>21697167very easy to get blackout drunk on this shit t. a finn
>>21697998>YOU>I WANNA TAKE YOU TO ALike you need a specific drink or an excuse.
>>21697167I love black licorice and anise, but salty licorice is almost a trick or gimmick that is actually good at just at first, but them you realize it's ammonia.>>21697175>pine tar>>21697187Yup.Interesting. I actually like the pine resin wine in Greece called retsina, in small doses.
>>21698005when it's burned, it's tar.
>>21698002it's just so sweet and you can barely even taste the alcohol
>>21697998>>21698483This, and it's also why it's a common for teenagers to get drunk for the first time with it
>>21698005salmiac is not quite the same as ammonia
>>21698518That's what salmiac means doesn't it? Ammonium salts?
>>21697998Imagine the fucking hangovers
>>21697167put some roasted coffee beans in that bitch
cold temperatures make harsher or more strangely flavored alcohol much more appealing
>>21697167I'm not a giant fan of Liquorish. Absinthe opened my eyes to the possibility though. I probably would like this no question.
We have "Dirty Harry" Germany, I guess it's older than copyright strikes and it has a Dick Tracy looking dude on the bottle!?Anyway it's not as brutal and strongly tastes like straight up candy grade licorice
>>21697564Looks really good
>>21697225>>21699235
>>21698808yes, but it's not like how ice is solid waterformula for salmiac is NH4Cl, ammonia is NH3 and it boils at -33 celsius
>>21697167This is like complaining about Peruvian jungle tribes eating fermented frog mixed with ants. They're an ancient and primitive swamp people best believe you're gonna be drinking peat mixed with forest mushrooms or something
>>21699595So finns are primitive snow people?
>>21697187The Greek resin flavoured wine and tar flavoured spirits have very little to do with eachother. Tar is used medicinally as well as to scent/flavour all kinds of things like soap, candy etc.(think mastiha). Might as well add it in booze too.t. fan of both>>21697206>Is terva similar tasting to Retsina but a lot more concentrated? No. Tar has a unique smell and taste that is difficult to describe aside from it being kinda smoky. If you've ever been to a shipyard where they treat wooden hulls with tar the old fashioned way and smell the air, that's what it tastes like. Minus the briny sea smells.>>21697795Take a look at picrel and weep, it's just as foul as it seems.t. bought it once out of morbid curiosity
>>21699553so, the hydrochloride salt vs the free base that smells similarly, acts similarly, and will decompose into free ammonia when heated, lit, or placed in the presence of anything...When you guys figure out how to freebase cocaine, you're gonna have one hell of a good time.
They have become a bad food meme and now have to keep running with it, like the graveyard guy
>>21697167Yumyumyum
>>21697167>a villagehipster slop
That anise flavor you have in Ouzo is surprisingly similar to salmiac so it's really not that weird. It's just sweeter since it's a liqueur. >>21701826the most common bottom shelf booze brand here
>>21701826that destillery has been running since 1888 - koskenkorva is one of Finland's most reconized brands domestically and internationallyjust because you dont know shit about fuck, doesnt mean its hipster slop
>>21701998Their history is irrelevant to what I can see: the label screams hipster slop. It's not about who they are, it's about how they present themselves.
>>21697795>And for god's sake do not drink anything remotely apple flavored immediately after. Why not anon? What will happen to me?
