amazing how white people's perceptions of india went from "turbaned servant boys serving candied orange peel on white bread" to "rapists squirting diarrhea out their ass in public"
>>21697995I wouldn't call it amazing as much as I'd say the information age revealed your true colors.

>>21697819The vanilla-sweetened whipped cream sandwich is on cake-like lady fingers, and solid cream is buttery icing. So, this is likely like a whoopie pie, and very enjoyable.I have some 1940s green cookbooks with millions of finger sandwich suggestions too. They're always good for a laugh. I think it must have been hard to do a high tea with choices once upon a time. The most ghetto of choices was James Beards favorite, the buttered onion sandwich with herbs oin the crusts./ I could eat a cucumber cream cheese cress sandwich all day everyday, though, or olive spread. Aspics? Pate? Sign me up.
>>21697819Whipped cream and lady fingers does not qualify as a sandwich. I like the India one, although equal parts ginger and orange peel would make it quite aggressive
>>21697995that was from upper class white people who only had contact with the upper class indians who could send people abroad. white people actually in india didn't just think that. do you think indian billionaires would be surprised to see americans overdosing on fentanyl and shooting each other every day
>>21697995yeah they wouldn't have bought that candied orange peel white bread if they knew
>>21698010I'm white. Very white. Whiter than you. I never leave the east coast, either. Why would I? Get fucked, projector

>>21698069When people say "east coast" they mean from the potomac up to the st croix. Basically, new england plus part of the mid atlantic. Yeah I know it's weird if you're not from the US, it's like how "the south" is, cardinally, more southeast, but people still say "the south" to denote a collection of states that are in the south eastern US, just like how they say "the midwest" to denote cardinally eastern states such as ohio and michigan. It dates to the pre-expansionist days, before lois and clark, the new adventures of superman. If you actually lived on the ocean down there and not an inland malaria swamp, you could maybe get away with "eastern seaboard" since that is a more broadly inclusive term and is lexically connected to the "fall line", the "atlantic shelf", etc, or you could say the "hurricane belt" You don't, of course (live on the water, that is), but that would be how it would be said, if you did. It's still a little iffy, it's like referring to alaska as the "west coast" which would cause a double take by most americans, much like florida being "east coast", but it would be closer to how the terms are used in practice. The idea of slave states being part of the nominal "east coast" is a conceit affected by insecure southerners who are, quite rightly, stigmatized by their association with the deep south and its checkered past. Your regional identity was sealed in 1861 and affirmed for generations upon generations of lawmakers by continuing to wave the flag of treason.tl;dr in the local dialect: "yawl ain't" the east coastt. new york, the former capital of the united states and the inaugural site of our first non-kingalso food and cooking and shit, food and cooking ah shit oh well see y'awl in 3 days

>>21698038yeah that's a good point. I grew up when the USSR was still a thing, and all the russians I knew were these genteel hyperintelligent renaissance men who played in string quartets and hosted saturday lectures on discrete mathematics for the neighborhood kids as a hobbythen the wall came down and "real" russians came over and... my views became different let's leave it at that
