They are legit better than anything I have ever had from any restaurant, fast food place, homecooked meal, or from anywhere else. I don't know how they fucking do it.

they're okay. i'd make quick meals with instant mash and not hate it. ingredient list is a bit grim.

never thought it was better than homemade though. freshly cooked potatoes have a much better flavor, if your homemade mashed potatoes aren't that good you might be doing something wrong. probably not adding enough butter and salt.

They use a two-step cooking process that lowers the temperature of the initial cook to gelatinize the starch in the potato cells before they absorb too much water and burst and then force retrogradation. This makes them nearly impossible to mechanically overwork compared to conventional potatoes at industrial scale. Read more about it here (start on pg. 56):
https://books.google.com/books?id=YkkhgGoE3_cC&pg=56

You can recreate this process at home using Steingarten method detailed here:

^Method 11

And you can even take the process a step further with diastatic malt powder:

You fucking suck at cooking.

I'm disappointed with this brand. they stopped selling the version that was just potato flakes that you added milk and butter to. also the bacon one is actually bacon flavored soy protein. I switched to the red mill brand which lists potato as the only ingredient and doesn't even have emulsifiers or preservatives.

No prizes for guessing the continent where cooklet OP lives?
