What are your favourite meals to do for a large group on a trip away (e.g. cottage trip, etc)?

Some ones I've done or seen done that went over well we're:
- lasagna
- chili
- corn chowder
- gumbo
- BBQ chicken
- BBQ ribs

pulled pork is a crowd pleaser

Some other ideas, I have to try in the future:
- Borscht
- Turkey Soup
- Baked Penne or Ziti
- Mexican beef and rice casserole
- Chicken cacciatore
- Coq au vin

Pulled pork on sliders? What would you serve on the side?

Sounds like a solid meal. Is the pulled pork something you can start in a slow cooker the night before? I guess you'd use pork shoulder?

depends how you're cooking it, but yeah if I'm making it for a potluck or something I'll start it the night before in a crockpot. and then the crockpot just keeps it warm all night. if you're gonna be cooking it in the oven, you might need to do it the day before or the day of, cause you probably don't want your oven on overnight. it heats up well cause there's lots of fat. add some barbecue sauce before serving.
and yeah, you want pork shoulder, or pork butt it's called sometimes. you want a fairly fatty piece of pork, not something lean like a loin.

Cool, thanks. I'll try this in a crockpot.
