Throughout history, were ribs always a valuable/wealthy cut of meat? because I always valued ribs whether pork or beef, as high value food. Is it just me being biased, or is it cheap level food like chicken?
>>21714880Funnily enough historically chicken was considered high end food for the wealthy. Same with rabbit. It’s weird how these things get turned around over time.
>>21714887>Funnily enough historically chicken was considered high end food for the wealthy.Meanwhile Henry IV of France 400 years ago:“A chicken in every pot, every Sunday”
>>21714880Is it? I always thought of it as poor cut growing up, lots of work for little meat
>>21714880You know what 99.99% of people were like throughout history? They were retarded, just like the people of today. They just did whatever their ancestors did, you know, kinda like what youre doing.
>>21714887>Same with rabbit.everyone had access to rabbit, it wasn't restricted to the wealthy at all, same with chickens but to a lesser degree.
>>21714887You're wrong though. Chicken, pork, and fish were much more common for peasants than beef in most places.
As a more tender, fattier part of the animal I would imagine that the ribs would have been consumed only by the wealthiest. Meanwhile, peasantry would be lucky to eat the rectums or brains or whatnot.
>>21716486>ribs>tenderRetard
>>21716503Literally any meat can be tender if you know how to prepare it, anon.
I don't know how they were percieved around the rest of the world, but in the USA (especially in the South) they were considered a trash cut and given to the slaves.
pork/beef ribs, like chicken wings, are fun to eat, and artificially got 1000% more expensive after I was old enough to have a job and buy my own food
>>21719264this is true. all of the foods associated with the classic "american barbeque" were extreme poverty and low class foods. it's crazy to think the impoverished could eat meat at all back then. a middle class person today can hardly afford a steak.
>>21719274Hey retard. Poor people 100 years ago got dressed up in their 1 set of nice clothes to pose for pictures. That's why they all looked "classy" back then unlike today's swag n-slurs in their baggy jeans and the rap music where you can't even understand the words, because i-phones didn't exist and they weren't just spamming the shutter button 100 times a minute every waking moment, they might be lucky if they got photographed once in their lives, and they were going to make it count. And poor people 100 years ago slaughtered a pig for special festivities to celebrate, it was a big deal, it wasn't something they were doing every day, they were not eating fucking steak for dinner every night. If you have any other questions that require some basic common sense I'll be here to help.
>>21719282i didn't say poor people were eating steaks. you have a lot of confidence for having no reading comprehension.
