It's really fun and even if you fuck up, you learn from this simple process. Why aren't you baking your own bread? I'm still learning the kneading process (pic related is not developed enough), but it's really fun.

My first loaf

my first bread was as hard as a rock and gave me a vicious stomach ache after. I only do flatbreads now. Someday I'll level up..

I don't bother with kneading. I either make anno-knead dough and let it sit in the fridge for 24-96 hours or i throw some dough in the mixer for 10 minutes if i want to make it that same day.

I'm in Asia and ovens are rare here. I miss baking bread and pizzas.
I'm getting better at flatbreads like roti and paratha.
I think soon I will start trying to make oven free pizzas. Making the base first and then just melting ingredients on top with a lid. Kinda like this:

It won't be proper pizza but it's better than no pizza

>why aren't you
This feels like an autism test. What do you mean I'm not baking my own bread? You are right about why it's good though, you can fuck up and it's still basically edible but there's also like 10000 years of traditions and techniques to learn. Low barrier to entry, high depth, perfect hobby.

>I'm in Asia and ovens are rare here
Really? So most people wouldn’t/couldn’t make cookies or cakes at home?

when somebody says they are "in asia" they don't mean like tokyo or seoul or some shit, they mean some mud hut ass cambodian village
>>

Ovens are kinda rare in tokyo too fyi

Some places have toaster ovens and air fryers are popular. But not large appliance or wall mounted ovens. Baked food is just not part of the tradition here. Most things are cooked in pots, woks and on grills. I mean some people do have ovens... They sell frozen pizzas at grocery stores here. But they are expensive.

>some mud hut ass cambodian village
KL actually
Picrel: no mudhuts here, only giant skyscrapers

same with seoul and probably busan, that guy has no idea wtf he's talking about. used to watch a ton of korean streamers, can only remember one ever having a full oven, and several who bought these janky oven-like appliances in order to do baking streams and the topic would always come up as to why they don't just have ovens like the rest of the world. i'd bet it's even more likely for rural homes to have them than city apartments where square footage is measured and paid for in blood and the space taken up by an oven could be used to cram a couple more kids in.

I do, but don't always have the time, and sometimes can't eat it fast enough before it gets moldy.
