What are some good foods I can pre-cook halfway and let it cook the rest of the way in an insulated thermos 47oz food jar by the time it's lunch time? Other than rice. What foods do you put in your food jars?

So, a thermos is not a cooking vessel though? Who told you it would continue cooking. It's going to approach room temp over time. Vacuum insulated extends the time, of that, but they're better at holding cold vs hot. They are slightly better at holding ice than staying warm over time, so you'll have to start with screaming hot soup/rice/pasta creations or hot coffee or tea, and you'll even want to prewarm the carafe with hot water before you transfer your meal.

You shouldn't use that for cooking. At best, you can "cook" various grains and eggs. You can use the thermos for food you boil i.e hot dogs and mac and cheese. I have one of these and its a must have for those who work outdoors in northern climates. I'll give you a tip: ditch those two shitty plastic containers and get yourself two 'Le Parfait 350 mL Wide Mouth Familia Wiss' jars. They will fit perfectly. I got mine at whole foods but yrmv. With those jars you can add boiling water to the thermos to keep food hot. That way you can rotate multiple pairs of jars, 2 for breakfast 2 for lunch. You are on /ck/ so I assume you know how to cook with glass. With this method you can cook (heat up) those canned soups and stews quite nicely.

This guy is right though. It's not meant for cooking, but you can make it work if you really wanted to. Imo its better to get a crockpot/rice cooker if you want to cut corners.

Any noodle packet by knorr. I pour boiling water in the morning and eat overcooked noodles for lunch
