Because of work-life circumstances I find myself frequently making instant ramen for dinner. Some of the ramen say instead of just putting them in a bowl with hot water for 3 minutes, to boil the noodles in water and thicken the sauce by letting it reduce down, then add vegetables and meat to taste.I chuckle at first but then I thought: what vegetables and meat could I add to a pan that was either quickly done or fine to eat as it without increasing cooking times too much (let's say 10 minutes overall)I thought spring onions, since theyre quickly done and are available in small portions at the supermarket. I also thought about those ham or speck cubes that come prechopped in packages, or maybe slicing strips of bacon small.Any other recommendations? Is there something dried that isn't full of preservatives and shit that I can add?
it makes sense when you realize Asian cooking method is often to cook protein separately from the main dish and then add it at the end. You can cook basically any thinly sliced meat in the time it takes for water to boil. you are literally limited only by your imagination.
>>21735415Comfy cheap late night winter snack
>>21735415>thicken the sauce by letting it reduce downThis is a joke.
>>21735419Asians also eat cat and dog and virgin boy urine eggs, they also let each other die in the street after car accidents and they look like gooky bug chinky aliens.
>>21735426I don't get it.If you put the little packet that makes the flavour in the Noddles with the water you get a thin soup but if you put it in the pan you can have a thick sauce that covers the Noddles with no leftover water.
>>21735415>instant ramen for dinnerHow are you alive? This shit has like 300 calories. I'd need to eat 4 of em for a proper dinner
>>21735415Here you go, you colossal newfag.
>>21735447I have a big lunch (food prep). Also, that's kinda why I feel like adding stuff in the first place. You're not even supposed to eat that much before going to sleep anyway, your body has nothing to do with all the stuff and just turns it into fat.
>>21735451before First We Feast became a meme because of Hot Ones, they actually had some decent articles and they had an article for making gourmet instant ramen. I checked a while ago and and they deleted the entire page, I assume to make room for more retard clickbait.
>>21735442You "thicken" a sauce made after roasting high quality joints of beef, lamb, or a whole roast game bird. You do not "reduce and thicken" your 25c fucking MSG slop.
>>21735469you can reduce and thicken anything you want. the physical properties of our world dont depend on the perceived quality of your ingredients.
>>21735469>You do not "reduce and thicken" your 25c fucking MSG slop.NTAI do.Just like OPs picture, I prefer to keep simmering in the pan until it has minimal liquid, I don't want to eat noodles floating in water. I also find that pouring boiling water on the and leaving them doesn't work for me, I have to put them in a small pan at a high simmer.
>>21735451That's informative, thanks. Is there any dried or frozen stuff I can quickly throw in there? Mushrooms or the like? Or would they have to boil for too long?
>>21735451May a well ski the instant ramen completely at this point and just use fresh noodles.
>>21735474You can do whatever the fuck you want dickhead.
>>21735479It's an extremely unhealthy "snack" and non-food, you should just tough up and use less water. Don't get comfortable and start treating this garbage as if its nutritious.
>>21735492>Don't get comfortable and start treating this garbage as if its nutritious.I didn't say I did!And using less water to cook, just means it evaporates quicker and leaves it crunchy, that's not for me I'm afraid. Sounds like you are just trolling rather than providing any decent input.
>>21735496>Sounds like you are just trolling rather than providing any decent input. What advice is there to give? Crack an egg into the pot in the last minute of boiling, throw in some halved bok-choy bundles in there and boil them for 3 minutes. Slice some cold already cooked ham and serve that with it. Add beansprouts, add sliced mushrooms, Instant ramen is NOT real food.
>>21735499>Instant ramen is NOT real food.By your metric, nothing is. The OP (and presumably the other anon you were disagreeing with) wants to supplement his evening meal, so like you said, he could add all sorts of shit to it and eat it like a soup . . .big deal.I tend to use it as a side to accompany something else, maybe some sardines or grilled chicken, that is why I do not want soup consistency. We all know it's just a carb, same as any other wheat, grain, potato based product.
>>21735483You can add frozen veggies but if you’re looking for real calories get thin sliced meat or even frozen shrimp to throw into the boiling broth. Use your eyeballs to determine doneness. Also, highly recommend cracking an egg into it too, but towards the end. Give the pot a good stir, and crack it right in the middle.
>>21735517>We all know it's just a carb, same as any other wheat, grain, potato based product.Absolutely not,
>>21735486>fresh noodlesthe fuck you mean by fresh? do you crank that shit out with a pasta roller?
>>21735415Any sliced meat cooks nearly instantly in a small nonstick or small amount of liquid. You can slice a frozen steak easily with a sharp knife. Consider a 1 inch ny strip or filet, and a simple amount of like 6-10 shaved strips, and returning the rest to the freezer.Spring onions are garnish at the end. But, you could slice a sweet or red onion into some thin strips, as well as a mini bell pepper. They sell frozen pepper and onion mixes, so you can use exactly the amount you want. Finally, a couple fridge pastes, like ginger or lemongrass are nice, as is a fresh wedge of lemon or lime, or a splash of ponzu or seasoned rice vinegar. I like a simple Tbsp of Makoto salad dressing, or a couple of drops of sesame oil.
>>21735551>go to grocery store>buy fresh noodlesIt’s not a difficult concept to grasp.
>>21735571You won't find fresh noodles at a grocery store. Even if you did, dried noodles are better. Which are the same thing as you get in good ramen, but they don't come with a stock packet.
>>21735571I can take a small cooler bag with me while I am in my pension for the work week.I don't have all the shit in a chef's kitchen and I can rely on the pension's kitchen having just about a water cooker, a microwave, maybe a pot, a pan and a wooden scraper. Also, depending on the work place, I might be in a different pension each week and can't store much in the communal fridge (I prefer using cold packs and my little cooler bag just to keep my stuff away from thieving bastards)."Just buy 50 bucks of specialise dingredients and cook as if you're at home" does not apply here. This is generally what pisses me off about this board: it's full of sweaty nerds that think they can just know better what conditions someone else is under. I once asked for help with baking in a cast iron pot on a stovetop because I didn't have an oven and some sweat actually said "buy an oven" as if it was cooking advice.
>>21735415If you have a toaster oven or microwave, you can cook hot dogs, bell peppers, and chopped onions within 3 minutes. When making them in the microwave, I put them inside a coffee filter. Also add eggs when the ramen is almost done, preferably through a holed spoon, but just cracking an egg is fine. Air fried balogna slices makes for good toppings.
>>21735617>I might be in a different pension each week and can't store much in the communal fridge (I prefer using cold packs and my little cooler bag just to keep my stuff away from thieving bastards).Just steal their food then leaveif you can't leave act angry how somebody ate all your food
>>21735575You live in a shithole, buddy. Get some pop tarts instead.
>>21735575>dried noodles are better. Which are the same thing as you get in good ramenConsider this statement, /ck/. This is the level you’re currently operating at.
>>21735883They don't have food. They steal mine. That's teal my monster, my ramen packs, everything I don't put in my cooler bag.I'm pretty sure they're Muslims because they don't touch the pork&beans I prepared at home nor my beer.
>>21735784>balognaDo you partake of Tobasco also?
>>21735899there you have your solution, put bacon on top of your food
>>21735483most frozen veg are already cooked

>>21735483I’m not sure if it’d hydrate fast enough but you can buy bags of dehydrated vegetables online like they have in cup o noodles. Also dried seaweed / laver.
