Ham is on sale for $1.50 american per pound for thanksgivings. Will it be cheaper to wait till after the holiday to purchase a nice spiral cut ham? Will they go on sale?
Ham is also a Christmas food, so you’ll need to wait until new years for sale ham.
Hams don't really go on the best sales until after Easter.
>>21735633>>21735643Thanks guys, so probably best to get the $1.50 ham now and wait till a big sale to really buy some hams?
>>21735649Yes, I have seen hams, even last year when ham was expensive, going for .59 a lb. I always buy 2 or 3...then I'll eat off one and freeze 2.
>>21735628that was my plan last year but it wasn't really on sale for much off. I bought it anyway because I wanted ham
>>21735628>Will they go on sale? They never do....this is just a loss leader right now, preholiday so you buy the rest/other items on the shopping trip. They will sell them again for Christmas, or not again on sale til Easter. /my prediction, but I could be wrong
Is spiral ham worth paying twice the price? What is the advantage?
>>21735716>what’s the advantage?that you don’t have to carve it? please tell me you didn’t miss the entire point of spiral cut ham.
>>21735721Thats it? I am not paying double for that
>>21735721Just put the ham in your spiralizer
>>21735716>Is spiral ham worth paying twice the price?>What is the advantage? The advantage is ease of slicing, the fact it is precooked and only needs to be warmed through, and maybe the fact it comes with a premade glaze packet for basting it (not that amazing, but is convenient to tear that open and not need much cooking down). The best ham are the reduced sodium "city ham" (Alton Brown term), on the bone, and done yourself a couple of hours in the oven, but with a house full of guests, you may need oven space and time to hang with them vs scoring + glazing yourself and cooking by the pound.
>>21735728>"city ham"I dont understand about all these ham
>>21735672Why is it so much cheaper some years if its a loss leader?
>>21735628looks like you're in a ham jam
>>21735956>in a ham jamwat
>>21736370>woah black bettyRoast a ham!
>>21735920Stores can't keep the hams forever. After Easter, any hams they have left need to go. This is the time to strike.
>>21736375Shes a real ham roasterBAM A LAM
>>21736376they can keep them for months on end
>>21737896they usually expand the ham section during holidays and they shrink it back down when demand leaves. yes they could keep them for months but as a business it makes more sense to throw them in the trash than to waste shelf space on something that isn't going to sell
>>21737899they actually get shipped back to the warehouse.if demand is low enough, they never leave the warehouse in the first place and remain in deep freeze This is how turkeys work as well
The ham futures in my area seem uncertain Not sure if I should invest
>>21736383She's always hammy, bam-a-lam!
>>21738778She bends over nowSlam a hamShe knows how to plowSlam ham
>>21735628ive noticed that the ham/turkey is as cheap as it gets before the holidays, like if you bought it at the beginning of november. so buy now and keep an eye out for sales later
