I've never had meatloaf, is it any good?
yeah I love meatloaf too bad it costs like 20 dollars to make one now
>>21749119blud how expensive is ground beef in your cunt
>>21749120the cheapest dog food ground beef you can get in the US is about 5.50 a pound right now
>>21749116I didn't have it growing up but it's a staple in my wife's family. I always assumed it would be kinda gross because of all the dumb jokes over the years but it's legit awesome.
> is it any goodThat depends, did your mother make it for you or not?(love is the best ingredient)
>>21749116It's very goodGrind up some sausage along with the beef and stick a couple sausages inside before baking too
>>21749127i don't get the jokes either. i grew up with it and it's awesome. you can try added habaneros to it sometime. It's somewhat a versatile dish really because you can experiment adding things too it, such as peppers or trying different top sauce recipes.
>>21749116>>21749120Gotta love how OP is an aging white hipster stuck in a mid life crisis pretending to be black.brown. Nobody talks like this.
>>21749116its a giant meatball. Your People eat those right?
It can be good. I don't like it when it is too dry, for being too lean, or too many extenders like bits of onion or bell pepper.
>>21749116yer its pretty good man
>>21749127>>21749394It's an American family staple that somehow got a comedic reputation from that subset of housewives who really can't cook. But like so many "punchline" foods>anchovies>brussels spouts>aspic>Spamit's delicious when done correctly, and frankly even a "mid" meatloaf can usually be salvaged with enough gravy or A1 sauce. Plus the leftovers are great for sandwiches.
Can I make meatloaf in one of these?
>>21749421Exactly. Most food memes that came about with things like meatloaf, Brussels, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. came about because of implications that suburban American white women have no idea how to cook so they make food taste bad. And it’s true, a lot of them under season everything. And meatloaf is easy to make extremely bland if you just use ground beef. But meatloaf is very good if you actually put effort into it. Use beef and pork, actually sauté the onions, put in proper seasoning and herbs, put in carrots, etc. I was also one of the people who grew up hating meatloaf because my mother made it so shitty. Ground beef, raw onion, milk, eggs, bread crumbs, I don’t think she even put anything else in it a little bit of salt and pepper. It was like a tasteless hockey puck
>>21749461it would be messy like your mother's pussy
>>21749461Do it, pussy.
>>21749116seems like a very war ration-y type of food to me but it's quite good
>>21749116>is it any good? No. Just dont. Adding filler to meat just makes it sad. Dont even get me started on the sauce.
>>21749116it's pretty good but not a good use of beef imo
>>21749116Not the biggest fan, don't care to much for ground beef by itself. However if you grill it up in a little bbq it makes a great po boy.
>>21750958if I eat meatloaf there's a good chance I'm not going to bother eating any carbs with it, so the carb filler is just moved from outside the meat to inside
>>21749116No
>>21749116It's good if you make it good, one of the most variable dishes in common American cuisine because it's a family thing and everyone has their own series of ingredients. Common things are eggs, ground beef, cubed bread/bread crumbs. But beyond that you have various spices, sauces, vegetables, other meats other cuts of meat, so it's one of those dishes that if you make the one you're familiar with it brings you back to a place, but if you have one that's different it reminds you how far you are from home. In 6th grade they sent us all to a weeklong outdoors camp where we were put into cabins, given education in nature stuff and free reign over a particularly rural forest environment. The thing that stuck out most was the meatloaf, which was just this dry full of weird shit testament to not being home. It was different and you knew it was. Nobody got molested though.
>>21749145This motherfucker never had my mother's cooking. Atrocious. At best.
>>21750969Maybe yours wasn't made with love? lol jk ;D <3
>>21749119What leanness should you use? 70% 80% or 90%?
>>21749116Not for you. Stick to your curry.
>>21749116Stephen King made meatloaf sandwiches sound delicious.
Hey black peopleI've never had fried chicken, watermelon and grape soda. Is it any good?
>>21752749OP is from Bharatistan.
>>21749116Yes, but you have to understand it for what it is: a simple and inexpensive meal for a weeknight. There are many different recipes, but something like this is pretty standard: https://natashaskitchen.com/meatloaf-recipe/Serve it with mashed potatoes and corn or green beans.
>>21752749The Scots invented fried chicken.
>>21752737Who here remembers Roman Meal bread?
>>21749116The trademark, red meatloaf sauce is made from catsup, which isn't worth adding because it sticks all over your cookware and is more mess than it's worth.
>>21752855I saw it when I was a kid, but not in years
>>21752791Kentucky Fried Haggis?
>>21752559I don't think it really matters too much. I always use 80/20 for everything. Meatloaf is impossible to fuck up unless you burn it.
>>21752860No, meatloaf definitely needs the glaze.
>>21752903I'll glaze YOU, my good man.
>>21749468Imagine insulting your mother's cooking for street cred on social media. How did you get to this point
>>21749116Dont talk to me darkie.
>>21749119That's still less than $5 a person with mashed potatoes and a loaf of bread
>>21753275>for the price of a big mac you could have a good meat loaf with mashed potatoes and a loaf of bread
>>21749116Go home and I'll send you my family's recipe proving it's pretty great Deal?
I have a pound of 93% lean beef chuck.What should I make?
>>21753692Do you have tallow to increase the fat percentage?
>>21752915nta but sometimes your parents suck at stuff, doesn't mean you're trying to be mean for le updoots or whatever lol
>>21749116If you like hamburgers with ketchup, you'll like meatloaf anon
>>21749119sub some of the beef for pork or even chicken
>>21752903use bbq sauce
>>21749116ya its pretty good imo you dont need the red sauce. its just meat that is cut with bread really. its pretty good. depression era meal that people remembered cuz its tasty and easy. nice when it has a good crust on it. well, cya!
>>21752915I love my mother with all my heart but I'm not gonna pretend her cooking is amazing just to gas her up. She did her best and kept me fed growing up, and I deeply appreciate that, but it is what it is. She knows her cooking isn't the best and now I cook all the holiday or other get together meals because we both know I'm better at it, and she appreciates it because she can rest and I get to give something back to her. It's a healthier relationship than you probably have.
I don't understand the concept. Meatloaf seems like an inferior meatball/frikadellen to me, since those two are smaller, have a larger surface area and are fried, so they got this nice crispy crust.
>>21749116Meatloaf sucks. Not because it's awful, but because it could have been made into something much better.
>>21754544If you cook your meatloaf well it gets a really nice crust on top. There's just something satisfying about having nice thick slices rather than bite-sized meatballs. Very hearty. It's definitely a winter comfort-food sort of thing. If it's juicy and well-seasoned, with mashed potatoes and veggies and brown mushroom gravy, it really hits the spot
>>21749116NoI guess you could season it, I had bland meatloaf but the consistency is just unpleasant It remnants of an era when beef was more scarce so ground beef was your only option and people wanted to shape it like steak
>>21749116It tastes like you were too lazy or high on benzos to make meatballs.
>>21754790How is that superior to large frikadellen? You don't have to bother with roasting/baking either, just fry them.
>>21749116>homemade nutraloaf.no.
>>21752737Stephen King made Bev's pussy sound delicious, too.
