What makes it "real"?

I don't think I want my 'chup to taste like honey. Then again I wouldn't want it to taste like corn either.

Why can't you just use sugar?

real ketchup is an asian fish sauce.
i would also accept early western imitations of the fish sauce made with mushrooms instead

We can't mass grow sugar cane in USA and there's a 500% tariff on sugar for some reason. Pay the 500% markup for sugar or enjoy honey/cornslop.
>>

Banana sauce always has artificial color to make it look palatable otherwise it looks like vomit. It does taste pretty close to ketchup though.
>>
>>21751378
Can the ketchup contemplate its own existence? Does it have a consciousness seperate from mine? How do I know the ketchup isn't just an extension of my own perceived reality?

No one actually knows what the “original “Ketchup” “ sauce actually was, other than a condiment that added “Umami” flavor.
The major theories are a fish sauce, like Asian Fish sauces or garum, or a soy type sauce.
Fish sauces were still made in some areas of the Mediterranean and Europe, which should indicate if the Euopean merchants had sny clue how the original “Ketchup” was made, they should have been able to reproduce the sauce somewhat accurately.
Soybean cultivation in Europe supposedly only started in the mid 1700s, so making a soy sauce in Europe around the time the word “ketchup” first appeared, (around a hundred plus years earlier), in Europe would have been impossible, so a soy based sauce seems potentially more likely to me.

I got some Local Honey hot sauce a while back that I thought would be pretty good but it just didn't hit quite right with me
Honey should just remain pure, by itself

>>21754924
Yeah, and it's still considered honey if you feed the bees corn syrup and the bees produce "honey" with it.

>Honey is a sweet, syrupy substance produced by honey bees from the nectar of
plants or from secretions of living parts of plants or excretions of plant-sucking insects on the
living part of plants, which the bees collect, transform by combining with specified substances of
their own, deposit, dehydrate, store, and leave in the honeycombs to ripen and mature.
