growing up the meal made most was just hamburger gravy over mash potatoes. and bagged gravy mix was the gravy.

Gravy mix is what you use if you don't have drippings. It is inferior but solid enough to get the job done.

White sausage gravy is better than brown gravy though.

it's fine. I wouldn't serve it at Christmas or any other event meal, but for a weeknight it does the job if you really can't be bothered to make your own gravy (although it's not hard)
