are you stockfish/salt cod/baccalà/bacalhau-pilled?
Its expensive and takes a huge while to desalt so im sticking with the cheap fish like hake whiting mackerel and maybe squid
it seems like shittier version of bonito flakes
>>21757338They are literally two completely different things for very different applications.
>>21757345fish you soak in water for its delicious juices?
>>21757346Yes. People take bacalhau and eat it like serrano ham.. exactly.
>>21757346That's stockfish. Saltcod isn't quite the same thing though stockfish can indeed be made from cod. The use-case is different.>>21757314Yes.
>>21757323have you tried eel? it's cheap where i am and very tasty
I saw it on a menu once and remembered it from The Sopranos, so I ordered it
>>21757346for preparing stockfish and salted cod, you have to soak them for a few days in water, but the water has to be changed many times and discarded. After the soaking, you'll end up with cod fillets that taste very different compared to fresh cod, because they basically had a fermentation process when they were cured. So, they have very little to do with bonito flakes, except for the fact that they are both dried fish.

>>21757400When I went to Naples earlier this year I made sure to try it because of the Sopranos. It was pretty damn good.
>>21757400We taught the world how to eat
>>21757314Pilled is the dumbest suffix that I've seen since 'gate'.
>>21758511most of that stuff is produced in Norway
>>21757346Bacalhau water is just very salty water. You discard the water and eat the desalted fish. You're retarded
stockfish is my favourite bar-snack>>21758585although a lot comes from Norway, the prices are a bit oddfish for bacalao: 40 per kgpre-made bacalao: 17 per kgstockfish snacks: 266 per kgstockfish snack for dogs: 30 per kgi guess because we sent alot of the "waste fish" down to Nigeria or somewhere like that
>>21758829As I said bonito flakes are better.
i enjoy jarred anchovies, which impart a similar level of fishy-saltiness. and they're widely available.
>>21757338>>21759132they're for different use casesbonito flakes are only good in the context of making a stock "that has as delicate flavour" (doesn't taste much) for your weeb soup or as topping for your weeb riceif you want to make a meal where the main protein comes from fish, bonito flakes are possibly the most retarded thing to use, except for something that's not fish
