Redpill me on pressure cookers. How often do you use yours? What do you make? How is it better than just a pot on the stove?
>>
>>21759161
I haven't used mine for 14 years.
>>
>>21759161
I mainly cook rice in it, but I'll occasionally cook soups too
>>

Why not?

>How is it better than just a pot on the stove?
faster and more energy efficient
>>
>>21759161
I use it for stews, goulash, and sometimes legumes. It prevents the meat from getting rubbery and decreases the cooking time by nearly half.

Pulled pork / ribs in minutes instead of hours
Beans in minutes instead of hours
delicious stews / broth in minutes instead of hours
turns cheap inedible cuts of meat into the most tender, delicious cuts imaginable
If you really have to ask you're not using yours right. A pressure pot isn't a slow cooker, retard.

I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying one. I've never used one before. Are these things actually good at making rice and oatmeal and shit too, or are all the extra settings a meme except for pressure cook?
>>
>>21759446
yeah we use our instant pot for everything. I have no idea why crock pots took off the way they did when instant pots do slow-cooking just as well if not better, in addition to pressure cooking and making rice.
>>
>>21759451
If the pot is big can you still use it for small servings or does it mess with the pressure somehow? All the ones near me seem to be large models but I live alone.
>>
>>21759459
they have minimum liquid requirements to build up enough steam, but I think it's one or two cups of liquid, so perfectly fine for single servings.
>>
>>21759161
I'm scared of them
>>
>>21759470
Thanks anon, I think I'll go for it.
>>
>>21759202
i use one all the time
beans and soup mostly
its better because it reduces cooking time
>>
anyone tried the Lidl one?
>>
>>21759161
im too retarded to operate one. i don't want to disfigure my face when that shit inevitably explodes
>>
>>21759459
I have the mini instant pot that is smaller than the 6qt standard instant pot. It's nicer because I don't need huge portions, and the inner pot is smaller and fits into my dishwasher better.

It's absolutely magical for cooking meat. I throw 4 or 5 chicken drumsticks into my mini instant pot, with 1/2 cup of water, some bullion powder and seasonings. 18 minute cook cycle and the meat is ultra tender and juicy.
