This is called Anzac cookie. It was used during the War to End All Wars 1 to encourage Australia soldiers, who were more likely to charge into the jaws of death if they knew these were waiting for them when they got back.
>>21759909Wouldn’t it have been easier for the soldiers to just learn to bake them?
>>21759909You're full of shit these are one step above hard tack and that's it
>>21760875don’t ever talk that way about Anzac cookies again you Twinkie fuck.
>>21760875They are God-tier
>>21760886>>21760887The finest baker I have ever met was an Anzac and he made pallets of these by hand every year to ship out to the deployed on Anzac dayI'm French, I started working at a French bakery when I moved out when I was a teenagerHis croissants were the best I've ever had bar none, he was a miracle workerIf you bought a package of Anzac cookies, no matter which kind, he'd ship one off to his soldiers back homeMost people would buy one and then donate it to the soldiers so they'd have twoAt least with hard tack you can make chowder
>>21760899Most people aren't buying sweet treat biscuits for their survival utilitarianism or ability to be re-cooked into other dishes but I'm happy that you like talking about chowder in biscuit threads
>>21760899You're a lying mutt. There was no French baker. The Anzac cookie was engineered by faithful wives and sweethearts who poured their heart and soul into providing the soldiers with some delicious cookies to enjoy whilst drowning in the horrors of Gallipoli.
>>21760899"Those biscuits suck, you can't even make chowder out of them" is such a Grampa Simpson thing to say holy shit
>>21760935Dude he gave me a day's lecture on the history of Anzac biscuits, they were made for shipping and storage, not for being treatsHe was extremely proud of making traditional Anzac biscuits that were WWI post office stable and would only kind of chip your teeth if you didn't cook themLike I said, dedication credit where dedication is due, he literally made better croissants than I have ever had in France or anywhere else, for that fact, he was a masterIf he was an American he'd make the most amazing croissants and Ambrosia salad or something similarWhy can't we admit that we suck at some things we swear are the best?French tacos are the things of nightmares
Anzac my balls lol

Australians no longer get baited by biscuits vs cookies. Colesworth says these are now cookies, so they are cookies. Arnotts and the rest are foreign owned, packaging reflect that. The word "biscuit" in Australia has been enveloped by the American concept of it. Bikkies are what your great-grandmother offers you if she's still around, its an ol' timey word for these things, even your grandmother calls them cookies now. Most Australians would be confused if you asked for biscuits with tea.Sorry OP but your troll thread is about 10 years, maybe even 20 years, too old at this point. We are an American state all but officially.
