Heard I should eat fruits and vegetables instead of processed foods all my life.
Decide to bring honey crisp apples to work so I can put of meals without getting hungry.
Apples just sugar crash me and I'm hungry and actually end up eating more and sooner.
What do? This is some bullshit.

Nuts are good. Also though, you could eat apples with peanut butter and maybe the sugar crash wouldn't be so bad.

This. The fiber really helps with fullness

Says who? If they're cutting down processed foods this is a fine replacement unless they're actively trying to lose weight and their meals are high calorie

That's a Kenworth. I can stop plenty of places. I'm trying to save money and eat healthy.
>>21760291
Too expensive.

More fiber than apples? I can do that, but peeling them is a pain. I can just eat and apple.
I guess I could peel them in the morning.

I'm going to try to lose weight, but I'm not bothering until next month. We bid our schedules and I'm not trying shit and then having my routine fucked.
But yeah, three goal is to eat something light instead of a sandwich. My wife makes really good fried chicken sandwiches and that's isn't helping.

Replacing a fried chicken sandwich with nuts is still a calorie win my dude, give it a whirl! Do you have time to go to a gym? Lifting and eating protein heavy diet is great for losing weight

These are always great and last forever, a perfect emergency ration to store at your workplace for when you didn't have the time or forgot to bring lunch.
>rice cakes
Edible cardboard basically. I mean this as praise.
>>21760276
OP, just bring a sandwich AND an apple, picrel.
The healthy way was always to eat a wider variety of foods, not to only eat one kind of food.
>>
>>21760414
I mean apple as a stand in for fruits ofc, it doesn't always have to be an apple, although that's usually the cheapest healthy fruit option
>>
>>21760414
yes, I'll admit it now, I barely know the difference between snacks and lunch, if you're hungry before lunch, just have brunch

unshelled nuts. the time it takes you to crack them will prevent you from mindlessly scarfing them down by the handful.

Cottage cheese with your apple might slow it down a little but

Blueberries with Greek yogurt also good and healthy ( plain, no flavors/sugar)

Raw veggies. I will eat a large carrot, a few stalks of celery, and mayne some snap peas. Often with cottage cheese on side. Or in addional to a protein based meal. I know if sounds meh, but when your really hungry all that crunch is satisfying. Also huge quantities of whole carrots and celery are first cheap and hold well so its easy to have a stockpile.

You could also add a hard-boiled egg to your fruit snack. Very satiating and still very healthy.

But also
> sugar crash
Learn to embrace it. What you are feeling is your metabolism spazzing out because its used to having unlimited on demand glucose streaming in. Its pretty sure a famine is coming so it jealously holds onto extra energy to run the meat suit and when there is a hiccup it sends out signals that make you feel like your going to die if you dont give it more food. But it doesn't need it. I know its constantly memed but more than anything else what helped me master this was fasting.
It made me realize how temporary that sugar crash feeling is. And how fleeting hunger is. And then after 24/36 hours when it goes away entirely and you feel fine, then you can truly know how illusory the sensations of hunger can be.

Beyond these physiological benefits, it seems to have longer term effects on how and when my metabolism expresses various hunger impulses. Hungry less frequently, and less intensely, and it made super sweet foods kind of gross for a while. Honestly it made me feel like a eurofag always bitching about sugar in american food. This effect goes away eventually, especially if indulging in sweet things. But an occasional re-up helps prolong it.

If you aren't already diagnosed with diabetes, you should see a doctor. That's not normal at all.

you're probably not getting a "sugar crash" from apples but rather you simply need fat and protein. fruit is good, but it's more like a beverage than something to eat when actually hungry.

eat some nuts or peanut butter or something with your fruit. or a piece of cheese.

OP it is a bit strange that apples would eventually cause your blood sugar to drop. If so I’d recommend against rice cakes, puffed rice is one of the only things that messes with my blood sugar.

Also aside from carrots consider a microwave baked sweet potato: pretty filling and satiating, moderate in calories, no issue to eat if it cools to room temp, don’t have to peel, cheap
>>
>>21760276
>snack
Why does this word sound so reddit? Am I the problem, am I the terminally online one? Fuck.
>>
>>21760773
unless op is actually testing his blood sugar then it's unreliable to say it's happening. i know people who will say they're having a blood sugar crash just because they haven't eaten in like 8 hours while being somewhat physically active. they're just hungry and tired. if op is "putting off meals" and just eating an apple he's still going to be hungry after and possibly feel worse because of that. just like if you were hungry and tried to drink a bunch of water instead.
>>
>>21760606
> learn to embrace the sugar crash
He just needs to stop spiking his blood sugar and balance it out with fat/protein. Depending on the type of work he’s doing your way could be really detrimental. Fasting works great for office workers and peasants during winter

Than you for the responses. Yes, there's lots of shit I got to do to improve my lifestyle, but this is an immediate problem that I can fix next grocery trip. I got weights and an elliptical that I need to get back into using, but I find out what shift I'm working for the next 6 months soon and don't even want to try establishing a routine until then.
For now I'm eating chicken sandwiches because we had a lot of chicken. I'm switching to roast beef (not the deli meat, a literal roast) when this runs out.
I got a physical when this started and they don't think I'm diabetic, but it was only urine, not a blood draw.

I'll take these into account shopping this weekend and once I know my permanent schedule I can figure out when to work out. These guys are working me up to and maybe past 14 hours so timing and sleep are more important that exercise in the immediate moment.
Thank you again!

you can get a basic blood sugar testing device pretty cheap from any store like walmart or anywhere else that might sell those things, or online. if you really think you're having blood sugar issues it might be worth testing but it just sounds like you're hungry and not eating something substantial enough.
