Do these actually do anything or are they just a meme?
>>21760484The best sports drink is bodyarmor flash IV because it tastes like gatorade but doesn't have yellow 5 in it. The most hydrating drink would actually be an electrolyte mixture you make yourself or just pickle juice. Even better than that would be to eat watermelon.
>>21760500>an electrolyte mixture you make yourselfI started using "fasting salts" to bring my electrolytes up after sweating my ass off in the summer. Seems to have a good mix of things. A big bag goes a long way and you're not chugging down colors and either sugar or artificial sweeteners.
don't you have to be 21 to post here?
>>21760502Mineral water if you do this. Plain, filtered water just leads to you pissing out electrolytes and minerals, there's zero benefit. Being a raw meat carnitard would be more hydrating than this. >>21760503Potassium chloride, magnesium malate, and some celtic sea salt will keep you covered. I like how LMNT just put out a recipe which is basically corporate-brand snake juice but I'm thankful for the info regardless.
>>21760500Yeah. Gatorade would be nice if they weren't using those vile chemicals. In WWII they used to give the men in the Pacific salt tablets because they would sweat their asses off so much.https://www.encyclopedia.com/sports/sports-fitness-recreation-and-leisure-magazines/salt-tablets#:~:text=Salt%20in%20its%20natural%20mineral,hot%20jungle%20and%20desert%20environments.
>>21760484The extra sodium does help a bit with physical activity and sweating. It not being carbonated probably makes it easier to drink enough too. It has a bit less sugar than soda too which will probably let you drink more to stay fully hydrated without getting sick from all the sugar. It's still a highly processed beverage so I wouldn't consider it "healthy" but it's a better choice for what it says. If you wanted something better than something like lemonade or diluted fruit juice with a bit of sodium added would be the next step up.
>>21760484They are more hydrating than coke or something so not a meme in that sense but as stated earlier in the thread, you could just drink water.
Until the mechanism of heat stroke was elucidated, the only way to deal with it was to lick salt and drink water, and this would have led to many deaths in harsh environments such as boiler workers and dam construction sites. There were probably many casualties in military service and sports, too, who were dismissed as the sudden deaths of the weak.
>>21760484How much do you sweat? If you do intense endurance or team sports where you lose a lot of water and can't take a break whenever, sports drinks (or speedy hydration alternatives, fpbp) are likely a good idea. But it's not like you'll die if you drink water instead, you'll have to pace yourself either way.But if you work out casually, aren't sweating for over an hour and the sun isn't burning you alive, a sports drink won't benefit you much and you'll just end up with a surplus of sugar. For casual workouts, you're better off with (mineral) water. Some coffee may improve performance, but it's likely not the best for hydration.
>>21760557>But it's not like you'll die if you drink water instead>>21760525I may have been wrong...
>>21760506this
>>21760557Best answer ITT. It really depends on your activity level, but yes, it actually does keep you going longer than water. Gatorade specifically was developed by a University of Florida research team in order to legally enhance the performance of their football team, the Gators. They handily won the championship that year. But if you're not pushing yourself very hard, plain water will be fine, but unless you have weight issues or hypertension drinking sports drinks won't cause any problems either.Ignore schizophrenic chemlets like >>21760500 and >>21760510, you're not gonna develope autism from drinking sports drinks.>>21760511You genuinely have no idea what you are talking about, and I'm curious as to why you even thought you should be giving advice on this in the first place.
>>21760652>You genuinely have no idea what you are talking about, and I'm curious as to why you even thought you should be giving advice on this in the first place.nothing i said was incorrect and since you haven't actually pointed out what was incorrect and what the correct information is, i'm just going to call you a punk. punk.
>>21760673>nothing i said was incorrectI don't arm overconfident retards with knowledge they'll just misinterpret and misuse later, as you are currently doing. Anybody else who actually has a decent grasp on human biology will be able to spot your ignorance as immediately as I did, so I don't feel compelled to correct you, i only called you out so OP doesn't get mislead by somebody who, by their wording alone, obviously has an extremely limited knowledge of what they are trying to convince others of.
>>21760689>blah blah blahyou're saying a lot of random shit instead of just anything relevantnothing i said was incorrect
>>21760484None of them do shitExcept for picrel, the goated beverage
>>21760709but does it have electrolytes?
