Just like that pic, I have a 350ml le creuset french press (as you can see, it has a chip that needs repairing around the spout) that makes a single cup of coffee.

This, all you need is a simple drip pour. Anything beyond that is like 800% more effort for only a 10% increase in taste quality

it is thank you. i worked a retail job where we had a lax smoke and coffee break policy so basicly everybody in the early shift got a 10 min get together for smokes and coffee, i pulled coffee duty for a long time so i have experimented with just about everything and ima be honest, this beautiful mashine works best for me. It set me back around 60€ and is worth it, its the right amount of hassle but not too much, its the perfect amount of babysitting before id get bothered or worked up and the consistent performence is something i greatly appreciate. A funnel requires me to fuck with it on a level that i dont fuck with it like that if you know what im saying. I despise tools that take more than im willing to give and basicly i aint enjoying the product neither. I had 2 of those things where you fill the water, stuff the coffee roast etc and honestly the fucking mess those things leave are not worth the 30% maybe 40% taste increase, coffee is a slampig item to me, i like it but in a particular kinda way and only that way. Put it like this, if i want a fast cheap meal ima get mcdonalds (or used to) but if mcdonalds starts charging real food/real restaurant prices the whole point of it becomes obsolete so the incentive of consumption is gone because the profitability in my life vanishes, same for the coffee mashine, i had 2 mashines, and 2 variants of the steel stove thingies and boy oh boy the pads stuff just reigns supreme for me

Why isn't this as good as the $5 stuff? What do I have to do? I'm hoping it's just the beans. Or the grind. But it's NOT like a coffeeshop latte at all and I don't want to hear that I need a $2,000 machine to get proper espresso at home, because I had a Krups in the 90s that wasn't half as complicated or expensive as this thing and it tasted spot on. Nope. She can drink it perfectly fine and I'm jealous that she doesn't get the shits like what I do.
When I run out of coffee I might try it again but instead go for the Nescafe smooth. If that gives me the shits (like what >>21768161 did) then I'll just stick with my cheap shite instant coffee.
Also what I like about instant coffee is that I'll pretty much drink anything.
>>
>>21779791

Would you believe me if I told you that her stomach is just built differently? Like, she has problems trying to go (ie: shit) but things that would MAKE you shit doesn't work for her. That's why she can take things like espresso no problem whereas for me it affects me hours later.
>You could try one week of training and see how your gut improves by day seven.
I'll keep that in mind but I'll need to finish my coffee jars first. Right now I have a:

>Nescafe original (small jar).
>Nescafe Gold blend (big jar).
>Instant coffee graniuals (apologises if spelled incorrectly) that I purchased out of uSave.
>Amazon Gold instant coffee (which I finished).
>Tesco's jacks freeze dried coffee (small jar and I poured both of them into my amazon instant coffee jar when I finished it).
>Kenco rich (gave to my mum because her six jar's of kenco smooth ran out and she's 1 jar left).

And before I started using a wee teaspoon I use to use a slightly larger teaspoon when putting my coffee into a mug. And also a reason why I have too much coffee (despite there being coffee in the house) is because I love trying new ones out and I know I'd never get to try them since my mum (and nephew who lives with us) only drink a certain brand (use to be Lor but it became too expensive so they switched to Kenco).
>>
>>21779853
She must've got a reverse iron gut then. Trying new coffees is always fun. Of the ones you have right now, which is your favorite?

I tend to poop about thirty minutes after drinking espresso, but only after the first one of the day.
>>
>>21777777

>>
>>21779888
>Trying new coffees is always fun.
Agreed. It also pisses me mum off sometimes because whenever I'm out the first thing I like to go to is the coffee section. If I buy anymore coffee that I need she goes daft at me because I already have enough as it is. That's why I usually only buy it if I'm using my own bank card (when I'm buying food its her card I use).

I love coffee but I sadly only drink the instant kind. Easier to prepare and I enjoy it more than I do tea.

>Of the ones you have right now, which is your favorite?
That's a tricky question as like I've mentioned earlier I'll pretty much drink any kind of coffee as long as its tastes good. But if I had to rank I'd go:

>Tesco's jacks freeze dried coffee.
>Amazon Gold instant coffee.
>Nescafe original
>Kenco rich
>Instant coffee graniuals (I don't know if its just me but the smell it emits is ginger which I like the smell of)
>Nescafe Gold blend

I don't have them now (because I finished them months ago) but I also like co-op's fairtrade instant coffee (gold blend) and I also like Tesco's own gold blend (it's a really long jar). I'd probably rate those two above Nescafe Original and I'd also put the Kenco smooth above it as well. But whenever I try kenco I either fuck it up when preparing it or it makes me pee like a horse.

I've also wanted to try decaf coffee but I'm smart enough not to get it yet. I'm only going to consider it if I'm unable to drink coffee (ie: bad for my health or if it makes me constantly shit)

If I remember correctly (it was so long ago) I think it was like, a couple of hours that I had to shit after drinking espresso. Like, I think I had it 11am and then it was around maybe 4 to 5pm that I had to run to the loo. If I didn't make it in time I would have shit myself.

Sometimes coffee does it as well but not as much when I drink espresso. The only slight warning I get if I know coffee is going to make me go to the loo is if my stomach feels funny.
>>
>>21779900
I don't use one.
>>
>>21768090
I use a french press in the morning and sometimes a cheap delonghi espresso machine after lunch. I hand grind with a kingrinder P2, it's kind of annoying sometimes but it does make some quick decent coffee and the whole setup was pretty cheap

>>21768123
those are so cool I need one

>>21777359
I've tried it in a restaurant and it was super good without needing creamer or sugar, but it takes sooooooo long to prepare a cup, like easily 15min
also forget about serving to more then one person
>>
>>21779926
Forgot to add: I've also tried the gold version of Dowe Eggberts coffee and while I did enjoy the taste, it went right through me.
>>
>>21779926
But instant doesn't go bad so it's not like you won't drink it later.

>11am and then it was around maybe 4 to 5pm that I had to run to the loo
It probably isnt related, or the delay seems really long.

Do you drink coffee on an empty stomach?
>>
>>21780129
That's true.

I honestly don't know what it is but if it happens again then I'll know its possibly a long-delay like you mentioned earlier.

>Do you drink coffee on an empty stomach?
Only sometimes and only when its my mum that's making coffee (as I don't normally eat breakfast although I do snack). I use to drink 2 cups of coffee a day (one when I wake up and one after dinner) but now I just drink it after I've had my dinner.

Start by getting some freshly roasted beans (competent roasters will have a roast date) and grinding them fresh before brewing them in your coffee maker. If you enjoy that, first upgrade to a nicer grinder, then get a better brewer.
There are many different ways to brew good coffee,

The barrier of entry for getting someone from drinking 3 cream 3 sugars to enjoying straight black overnight is a cheap handgrinder, cheap temperature controlled gooseneck kettle, a V60 and a normal kitchen scale. Even a shitty storebought medium/dark roast is gonna clear the burnt dookiewater at your local covfeferie

Pourovers provide such absurd quality coffee without any dialing-in immediately as long as you aren't over-zealous and go for exotic light roasts immediately after drinking Maxwell House for 25 years.

For anyone who makes the (very small) leap to buying a budget pourover setup, read /ctg/ or google for a bit and order it from aliexpress, not amazon or direct. Every single major coffee device brand is on aliexpress for 25-50% cheaper than every retailer

If I were to do it all over again, on a budget, looking at aliexpress right now:
Kingrinder P2 grinder for $35 USD
- engineering on this makes it comparable to $100+ grinders retards keep recommending, best bang for your buck until getting into Kingrinders K-series
- goes fine enough for espresso if you're autistic enough to dial it in on an 80 click 33 micron effective resolution burr
Random offbrand of popular dropshipped gooseneck kettle for $40
Knockoff Plastic Hario v60 size 2 $3 USD
- Legitimate plastic v60 is like $10 if you're a cuck
Digital scale with .1g accuracy and built-in timer $10 USD
If you're going with a P2/any plastic body hand grinder, go spend another $1 at the dollar store for a water spritzer

Full, good-quality pourover setup for under $100 USD before taxes. If you're curious and not homeless, just give it a try
>>
>>21784093
Just clarifying my poorly written line on not being over-zealous there: if you're just getting into coffee with little-to-no background at all (pre-ground, machine drip) go with a safe medium roast you like your first few brews to understand what you're doing and tasting before exploring. or don't, i don't care and it's not that serious

The point I was making is that it's not knockoff shit lol, you can straight up buy Kingrinders off Aliexpress for 25% or more off from Kingrinders retail site or Amazon, it's just much longer shipping

Regarding the exact gooseneck kettle and scale I referenced in my example, both of them are top-selling branded products on Amazon that retards think are more reliable because a 19 year old in his basement automated selling the same thing with an ai-generated brand name on it. Knockoff Hario probably unwise though I admit, unlikely to be the same plastic

In other words, hard agree not to buy knockoffs. Do, however, realize how branding and dropshipping works and just buy the same product everyone else is buying for half the price from the same distributor.

I'm not some pretentious french press faggot, or a weak boomer drinking his weak drip coffee.
I want that crystal-meth-tier espresso that only an italian in a truck-stop cafeteria can pull off. That 0,5€ half arabica half robusta good shit, made in a cast iron lever machine. That shit is thick, dark as Lucifer's asshole and will give you a heart attack, followed by an hour long erection. If you prefer something else, don't reply to me, because you're a homosexual who drinks coffee to look "cool", instead of drinking it for its natural effects.

Can't argue with the convinient part, no expensive complex machine or hipster fashion to keep up with. Its the post modern caffeine machine.
>>
>>21803418
Moka pots are so overrated. Save up for an actual espresso machine if you want to make cappuccinos and lattes at home. Otherwise, steeping (good) coffee in a pot or mug will give you the most bang for your buck.

Grinders do matter. The C40 that he uses used to be considered the best handgrinder, but there are better options these days for less money. Kingrinder P series are the cheapest handgrinder I can recommend at the moment. Quality electric grinders are going to cost much more.

Frothing milk in a french press is tedious and messy compared to using a handheld milk frother. They're pretty cheap too.
>>

Your brewing method can impact the taste immensely. I cant stand drinking drip coffee withoutadding a little milk, but a french press can make even the worst coffee bean drinkable. It might be more convenient to get a drip press for the office where dozens of people might want a cup, but if youre just brewing for yourself and your non existent wife/gf, then a french press or moka pot and grinder is all you really need.

If you spend more than 50$ on brewing equipment, and/or more than 10$/lb on beans, then youre doing something wrong, or like burning money (giving it to /).

I use a Chemex, with a gkass handle, and genuine Chemex paper filters, because the paper us necessary to properly filter the coffee, and to leave the smoothest brew.
(I also don’t really need to save the $0.12 per pot of coffee if it means crappier coffee).
>>
>>21806559
>ever try coffee siphon? it looks fun
My parents used a Chemex coffee maker for years, one broke, and I had seen an America’s Test Kitchen test recommending a siphon coffee maker, made by Bodum. (It was electric).
My parents then bought that, and it was way more of a pain to clean snd empty the coffee grounds.
Eventually, the polycarbonate it was made from broke.
I went yo purchase a Chemex to make coffee in the meantime, and realized the coffee was much better than the coffee from the siphon Bodum.
The Chemex was also easier to clean.
I have never though about buying a siphon coffee maker since.
The coffee just isn’t as good.
