Looking for a new kettle, our current one is starting to make the water taste like plastic.

how does pic related work? the body is glass but supposedly has a stainless steel heating plate? does that metal plate make contact with the water or is it under the glass?
>>
>>21770315
just fill your old kettle with a vinegar/water solution and let it sit for day or two. plastic taste will disappear and you won't be wasting a perfectly good appliance that has served you loyally for years
>>
>>21770315
>does that metal plate make contact with the water

yes
>>
>>21770315
be carefu of cheap brands. the glass tends to chip and dissolve the epoxy at the seam at base.
>>
Any should do the job unless you need a gooseneck and variable temperature.

I got a Secura stainless steel kettle from Amazon a few months back to replace a kettle similar to OP. It's actually 42% off on Amazon right now

As long as the body is glass or steel it should be good to go. I don't trust the plastic body ones.
>how does it work
Same way induction in general does, heating element under the metal bottom plate. I've got a glass one, good at heating up but seems to not hold heat nearly as well as steel ones? Loses heat fairly quickly, so if you like to just heat the one pot and use it for a cup of tea or coffee every 30 minutes it's not as good.
>>
avoid chinese electric kettles altogether and get an small electric induction plate and a nice metal tea kettle

>Same way induction in general does, heating element under the metal bottom plate
That's not how induction works at all.
And electric kettles do not use induction.

Your questions are pointless. Just get one that is glass or stainless steel and displays what temperature the water is. Also Be mindful of the wattage. Recently I got this 800w one:

https://www.amazon.com/Seehot-Electric-Temperature-Stainless-Coffee-Black/dp/B0DTK3RTD8

Because I live in a shitty old house, and the typical 1200 Watt one will probably trip the circuit breaker. It's a little small but fine for my purposes, positive for taking up less space.

i feel bad for americans. my kettle is 3000w. 800w would take a lifetime to boil.

a properly designed keddle can do 1800W so it's not so bad.

I live in Australia and mine is 2000W and it's fast enough. Idunno, I think the only reason Americans don't have kettles is because they aren't tea people and are only boiling anything to make soup or something on the stove

its not induction you fucking idiot

Induction requires MAGNETS

>i feel bad for americans.
Their electricity supply mean it's a struggle for them to use 1.5Kw+ for a kettle.
They use 120V supply like Liberia, Haiti, Cuba, etc.

My bonavita takes about five minutes to boil 1 liter of water. Quicker if I fill it with slightly less water.

Good to hear. Yuros deserve to suffer

We also invented electricity.

Do you also find it amusing that you have to use our inventions to use more of our inventions, just so that you can access another American invention all so that you can interact with Americans on an American website in American english

Do you think any of us would do that for whatever pathetic country you're from? Am I speaking your shitty language now?

Lol.

Canadian here. I have 220v in my kitchen for my stove and kettle.
I don't know where the meme comes in that we don't have 220.
>>
>>21775946

Considering how much it triggers you why wouldn't he if it's effective?

First off, it's discovered.
And Second, William Gilbert wasn't American
>>
>>21776532
>First off, it's discovered.
America invented the electric power you use. Americans designed how electirc power can be generated to a reliable spec, transferred locally and geographically, and designed the first beneficial devices that use them. Some aristocrat rubbing rocks together didn't do that, America did. It's also only thanks to us that you can even make your ungrateful assertions on the internet.
