>imprecisely sauced
>>21771088Doesn’t need a soy bath?
>>21771416Damn lol.Needs more spaghetti lmfao. And more sauce for the more spaghetti. And meatballs, and sauce for the meatballs. Like a BUCKET of meatballs.

>Go to sushi place>Eat the sushi as Wagner-sensei advises>It's not sauced enough
>>21771094>why was he using chopsticks in that scene, he is such an assIkr, everyone knows when you pay $400 for a sushi roll you have to eat it with your hands like a stone age Neanderthal who barely comprehends tool usage.
>>21772083it is what tradition demands
>>21771416Doesn't need a cheese bath
>>21771088Let me help you there, chef.

>>21771088but has the fish been folded enough times?
>>21771088I really love Japanese culture but sushi is probably the most overrated BS everI saw this one episode of Japanology where they showed how a sushi master can put the fish and rice together so well that the connection is four times stronger than that between what a noob usually does. They measured this with wind machines. And youre just sitting there thinking that this makes absolutely zero meaningful difference because youre just stuffing into your mouth in a second anyway. Fuck sushi.
>>21773913eventually you realize that's 90% of Jap shit.
>>21771088>eats it in one biteNext.
>>21772083Its awkward to eat nigiri with chopsticks. You're way more likely to either drop it or squeeze to hard and tear the fish before you eat it. Not that hard to wash your hands.>>21771088The scene was written to appeal to lower middle to middle class flyovers who think high end sushi spots are intimidating. Those people would be weird about a rich person eating with their hands, since they're flyovers who just repeat etiquette/social rules without understanding them (ie: no white after labor day is not a real thing and repeating it outs you as a poor), so the director told the actor to use chopsticks. For flyover-kun, competently using chopsticks on its own is enough to mark you as a worldly, wealthy person.
>>21774798>no white after labor day is not a real thing and repeating it outs you as a poorThe only thing this outs you as is being old because nobody fucking says it anymore.
>>21771088Fucking shitposts? In this temple?
>>21774798You know that people keep trashing flyover states then end up moving to them regardless these days right? Look at Montana, Utah, and Idaho
>>21774044The worst is action figures. They've been basking in the artisan Japanese import class aura for years, but now the Chinese have decided to just do it themselves and are completely shitting on them in half the time at a lower price.
>>21774798You tried le epic takedown post on that group you hate but you just come across as obsessed
>>21774813somebody has to make an AI re-make of him shooting them dead
>>21774798>Not that hard to wash your hands.not that hard to eat nigiri with chopsticks either....... "squeeze too hard" wtf are you talking about. that would never happen unless you did it deliberately.
>>21772827yes it does
>>21773913The mechanical presses press the rice better.
I really don’t understand sushi hate it is a dish where the freshness of every ingredient matters except the rice but even that has to be made same day. Technique is a small part of making it work but sourcing everything for it fresh is an asspain and it’s justifiably expensive for the good sushi spots.
>>21771088The heat of the rice cooks the fish
>>21776491>really don’t understand sushi hateis that 4 small pieces of fish on 4 small pieces of rice?wowie zowie thatll be 12 dollars. Custom roll that a grown man can eat three of? 16 dollars a roll help yourself. Smalll bottle of house wine(geikkakken sake)? 20 dollars.Just so fucking epic, to eat my fill i spend 45 dollars. I love sushi and poke but for fucks sake.
>>21774798What are you even talking about? The hero of that scene clearly picks up the nigiri piece with his fingers, pops it in his mouth.
>>21774798>Its awkward to eat nigiri with chopsticks.Maybe if you're retarded>You're way more likely to either drop it or squeeze to hard and tear the fish before you eat it.Okay yeah you are definitely retarded

>>21771088My solution to this problem: Eat one piece exactly the way the sushi guy serves it, eat another piece however you want
>>21774798I don't know if it comes from my parents being nouveau rich or what, but I never got all these bits about>oh you have to eat this specific food this wayIt just seems like autism to me (as someone who has autism).Pretty amazing how everyone rich pretends to love 'the common man' until they actually have to deal with them. I say this as a hypocrite who has to bite his tongue whenever he sees deep-fried anything or people crowing about street food being secretly great despite it being 1400 calories of grease.
>>21774813Whats the movie/show? I remember seeing this lol
>>21774798The scene was written as a joke. If you watch the series, Waggs is constantly getting drunk of off Michter’s Whiskey, usually either the 20 or 25 year varieties, which are a couple grand per bottle or more. A person’s taste buds would be fucked after the amount of whiskey Waggs drinks, and nobody who cares about taste drinks an entire bottle of expensive whisky.
>>21771905It is disgraceful to ask for more soy sauce and wasabi. But you can ask for condiments that are not disgraced, yet. Like ketchup.

>>21780879In the past when social stratification was more important, the upper class had endless etiquette rituals because being able to spend the time learning and memorizing and practicing them, and the effort keeping up with them, was a status symbol in itself. A peasant could not afford 5 different knives per meal, would not want to spend the time washing them afterwards, would not have the time or opportunity to learn how to use them, and would not have the time (or space, if eating in the field for example) to even lay them out. If you were a noble's kid you'd get a private tutor giving you etiquette lessons and drilling you about the order of knives and the correct curtsy for each social class of a potential visitor and then you'd dine at a table meticulously prepared by servants with 15 pieces of cutlery per person and spend several hours on a social event of a meal, and all of that marked you out as a noble.Nowadays it's part tradition and part some statement of being cultured. The thing is nowadays anyone can look it up online and learn the finer points of just about anything, so it's no longer a mark of birth or wealth; rather it's a mark that you care about "proper" things. Of course correcting others on not doing it the proper way is very rude and therefore uncultured and therefore self-defeating.And of course there are some foods where the rules are there for a reason, to improve enjoyment. Like matching the bread to the foix gras, it's not a rich person thing, it's just that if you eat it on a seeded sourdough for example instead of brioche, it just doesn't go well together. Unless you've eaten enough foix gras on different breads to know that you actually prefer it on seeded sourdough for some reason, but that's different to doing it because you grabbed the first bread you had laying around and didn't care.

>>21771088i spent an absurd amount of money on a 21-course omakase and they pulled out a comically small paintbrush, like smaller than a toothpick, to lightly apply the "traditional aged soy sauce" from a comically small containeri had to stop myself from laughing because like dude you've got the tiniest brush ever is it really that serious? i admit though it was unbelievably good and was only used for that one course. found out after it's like $200 for 1/4 cup of that shit
