I have never in my life actually seen someone cry from cutting onions
>>
>>21774108
Have you never cut one?
>>
>>21774110
I have a tiny ass studio apartment and cut onions nearly every day
>>
>>21774108
>I have never in my life actually seen someone cry from cutting onions
You have probably never been outside.

Snarky comments aside, I'm generally ok with onions but occasionally I do come across some that make my eyes water quite a bit.
I guess the onions have something to do with it.
>inb4 sharp knives, etc.
>>
>>21774108
i wonder if its a gene because onions fuck me up and my knife is sharp
>>
>>21774110
If you cut your onions while they're cold then you won't feel a thing.
>>
>>21774108
Happens to me with old onions. Most of the time I'm perfectly fine cutting onions, but once in awhile you'll pull one out that's been sitting in the cupboard for two months and it's like someone pepper sprayed you.
>>
>>21774108
Says a lot about your social life really.
>>
>>21774116
>I guess the onions have something to do with it.
onions certainly have something to do with it
i can cut through an entire bag of onions with no tears, and then the next bag are like tear gas grenades the second you cut into them
>>
>>21774108
Hi
Now you have
I literally cry evrytime
I have to hold the onions as far away as possible and not look at them
>>
>>21774108
That's because you have autism and people are retards who parrot what other people say.
No one ''cries'' from onions. You sniff the onion and it irritates your eyes. You don't cry, it fucking burns. If it gets bad and you rub your eyes then yeah the eyes may get wet a little. It's not literal crying.
Take your autism pills.
>>
>>21774231
I do. Like 1 out of 10 onions I cut is so excruciating that not only do I have the physical reaction from the fumes, I am shedding genuine tears due to the pain I’m in.
>>
>>21774231
>posts long diatribe about it not being literally something
>calls the other person autistic
anon...
>>
>>21774108
I have never in my life actually seen someone
>>
>>21774129
Dunno about that, since I keep all mine in the refrigerator and it's completely random whether or not one will make my eyes water up like >>21774191 said. I find jalapenos to be the same way - sometimes I wonder if I accidentally bought skinny bell peppers and sometimes my fingers sting for days after cutting them up.
>>
>>21774108
I just pick the wrong times to cut onions
>my dad's death day
>while watching Marley & Me
>during cold & flu season
>while watching Brian's Song
>while watching Forrest Gump
>when I'm looking through family photo albums
>after I wake up from a lucid dream and my dog was there, the one who died in the house fire, and I remind myself that I can fly in the dream, and I pick her up and we fly away, but just as we're about to make it, I accidentally drop her back into the fire, and I have fly away because the smoke has gotten too much, and then I wake up, but it's Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" playing

My advice is to try to listen to some fun music while chopping, especially with onions. Maybe wear a bright yellow shirt or a silly hat.
>>
I wear chemistry goggles when cutting certain types of onions. It works.
>>
>>21774108
Kek why are they holding the onion like that
>>
i briefly worked at a little cafe and on several occasions had to stop cutting onions and stand out in the cold until my eyes stopped watering. passersby thought i was crying
>>
>>21774123
No, OP is just an attention seeking faggot. If you have cut more than 10 onions in your life you have cried. Although the white onions I buy now almost never tear me up so maybe OP has only sliced one particular non teary onion.

It hasn't been a meme since the invention of writing because it's untrue.
>>
>>21774689
so they don’t lose a finger if the knife slips
>>
>>21774108
When I was younger they would make me tear up, not so much anymore.

They changed the onions
>>
I had a boss that would tear up almost immediately with any onion. It was wild, actually had tears streaming down his face while cutting. I've teared up before but like others have said it's only old onion that really do that to me
>>
>>21774108
Dogshit bait thread. The absolute state of /ck/
>>
>>21774108
I have. And it's always because they use a dull knife. Keep it sharp and use clean cuts and youre good to go.
>>
>>21774720
OP here I'm really not trolling I thought this was like a trope or something like slipping on a banana peel or sneezing from pepper just something in cartoons
>>
>>21774896
Doesn't always happen but I've definitely had tears running down my face while cutting onions a few times
>>
>>21775007
Don't engage with a troll.

The idea of science and the United Nations is that you have never had a real experience in your life, all your experiences are anecdotal. That's what this clown is going for here.

meds now
>>
>>21774108
You're a fucking idiot. Have you ever cut like say, two hundred onions in a fucking row for your job at Jets Pizza? No retard, nobody cares about you cutting one or two tiny onions in your house
>>
>>21774140
this, cut the root off an old onion and your eyes are gonna water like being pepper sprayed. I get it when mincing old garlic cloves too.
>>
>>21774108
Even with a slap chop, that shit makes my eyes burn.
>>
I never had a problem before, but ever since I had vision correction surgery I can only make it through 2-3 before the pain starts building.

imagine being so retarded you can't even cut an onion the wrong way just for the experience of getting your eyes watery.
>>
>>21774108
Post a video of you cutting an onion or I will cut you

Nigga cutting old onions instead of fresh onions.
>>
>>21774108
I usually only get this with small super sharp ones. They spray their juices all over the place when you cut into them.
>>
>>21774108
I had cut countless onions without crying but it turns out it depends on the onion.
And the one time i made a pasta sauce i cut up two and so they released a lot of juice.
Probably is worse too if the place isnt ventilated well.

I forget what kind of onion it was. Maybe a difference between yellow and white? Maybe how fresh it is depends too.

I used to cut a lot of them when I worked in food prep, when I first started and they were really fresh they would sting the shit out of my eyes and make me tear up. I would go step into our walk-in refrigeration area to mitigate the stinging, would help to clear it up quickly. Eventually I just developed an immunity though and it stopped bothering me. Basically, it's a real thing but you can adapt to it, thanks for reading my blog.

Confirmed for no heat. Anon lives in a cold apartment with a terracotta plant pot and tea lights.
>>
I worked at a subway for two weeks and they chop onions by slamming whole ones through a grate. Cried at the injustice if it all every time. Standing in the freezer helped

I used to do this at papajohns, though it wasnt 200 more like 30 all prepped before the rush. We had a large hand crank slicer and as a game i would see how long i could last before the burn became unbearable.
