Hell yeah, Chinese ribs at the hot bar today! Not sure what makes these different from normal ribs, never ordered them at a Chinese place, but I’m curious.
>>21776507>mystery meat in mystery sauce in a mystery buffetbuffets are so fucking disgusting
>>21776507that one up top looks sad. fried flesh with no sauce? just some bare chopped veggies? grim
majority bonesthey are going to get you on the weight with these big time
majority waste of digits sorry guys
>>21776666bones don’t weigh much.
>>21776507It’s just got more corn syrup and oil and some chili powder and ginger in the sauce. As an Asian Man I prefer St. Louis style ribs and Carolina pulled pork
>>21776507Based buffetchad, them ribs look mighty fine. For me, I always load up on crab legs.
>>21776507I love ribs but buying them at a place that charges by weight always feels like a rip off since its 90% bone
>>21776507its chinese because it probably has a a char siu style marinade with red fermented bean curd to give it the colouror it might just be food colouring if the place is shit
>>21776717chinese ribs are simmered/pre-boiled in sherry laced chicken stock w/anise, ginger, or 5 spice powder, then glazed in heavy red food coloring char siu sauce, a blend of hoisin, sesame oil, dark soy and dark brown sugars, etc, and may even have ketchup. A lot of pork in chinese cuisine is twice-cooked like that, and you should indeed taste the 5 spice in the flesh itself. If it's just sugary, it's meh. Good pork belly should have the amazing flavor from the first step too.
>>21776507chinese sauce tastes better than bbq slop is why imo. i would much rather have 5 spice ribs or whatever, than bbq sauce ones. better grade of slop.
>>21776925>heavy red food coloring char siu sauce>not red fermented bean curd
>>21776940five spice is fucking gross. no i don't want my ribs to taste like pumpkin spice
>>21776706yeah, they do. they are the steel girders of animals
>>21776507Oh, it's the sauce. They cook em in a char siu sauce which contains that red soybean paste everyone goes on and on about, combined with soy sauce and honey and other junk, usually 5 spice. >>21776919They are probably using whatever mass produced big ass bottle/can is available for restaurant supply. >>21776940You can get the sauce in jars from an asian market to make it yourself. Even has instructions on the jar for the marinade part.
>>21777417nice reddit spacing queerbo
>>21776666so peel off the meat and put that in the container
>>21776507Gutter oil.
>>21776507i was working in a chinese buffet some 8-9 years ago, the ribs were DA BOMB. very tender, very tasty and that sauce is caramelisation of some sort, i think the original chink cook used sugar and starch to make it. get them, you won't regret it
>>21776565i’m sure there’s sauce available
>>21776925>chinese ribs are simmered/pre-boiled in sherry laced chicken stock w/anise, ginger, or 5 spice powder, then glazed in heavy red food coloring char siu sauce, a blend of hoisin, sesame oil, dark soy and dark brown sugars, etc, and may even have ketchup.what a total waste of time. fry sugar, add cooking wine, 2 sóys, spices, ginger, spring onions, water & reduce down to a syrup. what you listed is goyslop
>>21777788i just snack on a rib or two at the bar
