I got a popcorn popper, what breed of kernel is best to pop for myself?
>>
Orville Redenbacher
>>
>>21776978
This. Yellow kernels are best if you can't find or afford orville
>>
>>21776876
Why do you need a device to pop popcorn? You know you can do that on the stove.
>>
>>21777012
It was a gift
>>
>>21777015
More like a re-gift. No one loves someone and gives that as a gift. You're second fiddle lonely guy.
>>
>>21777019
Who gives a crap? One man's trash, buddy. You don't ever throw scraps to your servants or nothing?
>>
>>21776876
these things will give you the big C, microwaving plastic thats a big no-no
>>
>>21777077
Don't tell me what to do asshole.
>>
>>21777084
im just trying to look out for my fellow person
>>
>>21777077
It's Silicone, not plastic.
>>21777084
You're not me, don't be rude.
>>
>>21777095
its still going to leech into your popped corns via the gross palm oils and you end up ingesting it
>>
>>21777099
>via the gross palm oils
huh?
why would you put palm oil in a popcorn popper

OP
so long as your popper is decent and comes from a reputable/3rd party certified manufacturer and not some shit from china it's fine

as others have said orville redenbacher is good
although if you can find amish country they have specific varieties like extra large or small kernels
they have thin hull that still pops well but doesn't get shards of hull stuck in your teeth
well worth the extra dollar or so per pound IMO
>>
>>21776876
I fux wit that. Apply oil and salt after popping
>>
I haven't had it work out well but I'll keep pouring salt and corn into the pop hole

for me its pic related.
I tried the white and it's more delicate,I guess. but smaller kernels
I tried black and red, both were small and hard if i remember right.
>>
>>21777099
It's a microwave popper. You don't put oil in it; it's effectively a hot air popper.
>>
>>21776876
No need to bother with that taking up shelf space.

>Orville Redenbacher
Unironically, this. Orville engineered his kernels over the years to completely pop, pop large, and have a thin shell that doesn't stick in your teeth or throat, so nothing left in the bowl to bust up your teeth or bother you. It matters, seriously, to have them fresh and moist inside. I've tried white and yellow both, similar results, with the white kernels slightly smaller, so you pick.

Fact: 100% of corn on the market is GMO and technically no longer organic, so might as well consume the best of them.

Do you ever get the fancy popcorn?
>>
I've tried every major brand and variety of kernels multiple times, I make popcorn multiple times per week, and the one that's the best consistently is walmart brand yellow kernels. I'm not sure if it's just more fresh because it sells faster being as cheap as it is but it always pops the best and imo has a slight edge on flavor.

Orville Redenbacher invented what we today consider to be popcorn. There are lots of imitations and legacy popping corns but none of them are particularly good.
>>
I've tried many popping corns in my time and nothing matches Orville Redenbacher for flavor, size, and ratio of popped to unpopped kernals. Some of the boutique heirloom popping corns are very tasty but they're often tiny and have a high ratio of unpopped to popped kernals. I use the old fashioned method of a shaking a covered pan on a stovetop until the popping stops or an air popper. I don't own a microwave or consider microwave popping corn to be popping corn.
>>
OP here, I guess I'm gonna get some Orville.
>>

Amish Country is good if you like wasting money.
>>
I came here on a contract to shill Pop Secretâ„¢, but I have to admit you can't go wrong with the 'Ville.
>>
>>21780724
i tried the hull-less popcorn and it does make a difference. the hull is just thin enough to crumble when chewed and i never had a single piece get stuck in my teeth. it is somewhat expensive but i think still cheaper than the already made or instant microwave stuff. and even at the higher prices you still get a ton of popcorn from it.
>>
>>21780724
It sucks
>>
How do you put on popcorn seasonings without oil/butter
>>
>>21776876
I run the latest kernel 6.18 I think

OP here, with my newly acquired Orville. It definitely tastes like popcorn. The popper worked but there were like 20 unpopped kernels left, I would have kept it going for a bit longer but as you can see the popcorn was starting to burn a bit.
>>
>>21784602
Did you use that stupid microwave bowl? Get an air popper or learn to stove top pop if you're a popping corn man.
>>
>>21784812
he used an air popper anon, you need to read better.

>>21784602
it happens buddy, there's no 100% pop success ever recorded in the history of popping corn.

in any case OR popcorn is fluffy and soft and you're not likely to bite into any little bones or anything. it's good stuff

The Whirley-Pop is the peak of human ingenuity and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
>>
>>21784831
do you have to hold that over a flame? seems exhilerating
>>
>>21784836
If a flame is what you have, sure.
>>
>>21784847
what are the alternatives?
>>
>>21784850
A mass of plutonium-238 would do it. I use an electric range, but use what you've got. Maybe a particularly hot potato, or a parabolic reflector on a sunny day. Or cool lava.
>>
>>21784862
I might try and cook it over my vulva next year :3
>>
>>21784827
>he used an air popper
Impossible. Air poppers don't burn the popping corn.
>>
>>21784870
Put it on OnlyFans to subsidize your corn with porn.

>>21784890
sure. will just have to wait for the stitches to be out and healed up
>>
>>21780938
it's cheaper than orville at my local grocery store
amish medium white hull-less never gets stuck in my teeth, the hulls shatter to a dust more than regular popcorn which makes it worth it to me

also, am I the only one who pops a bowl of plain popcorn and then tops it with a handful of flamin hot cheetos? the strong flavoring carries over to the rest of the bowl and makes for an ideal topping
