Are egg boilers worth it?I like boiled eggs in the morning, but making them the traditional way on the stove takes too long and making them the day before isn't as good as a freshly boiled one and I'm usually in a hurry.
>>21778032>I like boiled eggs in the morning, but making them the traditional way on the stove takes too longit's 10 minutes.
>>21778035Yeah, and I'm in a hurry.
>>21778036The machine still takes 10 minutes. You just don't have to babysit it and the results are consistent every single time.Fags on this board have something against single use machines but I literally use the egg cooker every day
>>21778032This is the one gimmick kitchen device I actually use. Put the eggs in, take a shower, get out...perfectly done eggs.
>>21778040It gets a pass for me because it's storable in a cupboard. The only truly unforgivable gimmicky unitaskers are the ones that eat up counter space. That might just be my personal autism but I like to maximize my counter space.
>>21778032I've been thinking of getting one since I'm apparently too retarded to boil eggs and they always crack for me
>>21778032>>21778044How many fduckin eggs do you eat each morning?
>>21778118Two or three, depends how hungry I am.
>>21778032I have the Nordic Ware microwave cooker $11 on amazon . It saves the day to cook unattended safely while I'm making dinner or showering in the morning. It waits for me to put them away in the fridge for cold salad, such as egg salad sandwich, or Cobb salads. It's also fine hot. The device holds 4 jumbo eggs, over a tray of water, so they are basically steamed. Easy to clean and put away without having another electrical appliance. At some point, you decide the perfect cooktime for your cold eggs, soft boiled vs hard boiled, but they have never turned out overdone or green yolks. They are tender. Mine has made it easy to put off grocery shopping another day or two, when I need luncheon meat for work sandwiches.
>>21778142>they are basically steamedDo you have to peel them first or does it take 'em, shell and all?
>>21778032my parents have one and they use it every other day, if you eat boiled eggs regularly then it makes sense
>>217781183 eggs
>>21778148whole eggs in the shell, so yea, hard boiled eggs. I imagine the device allows you cook 1-4, so really it's a perfect size for a single person or small batches.
>>21778040>>21778055>>21778044>>21778142Do you still cold plunge them or do you just let them sit in the machine for a while?
>>21778032>egg boiler>rice cooker>toasterYes goy keep consuming product instead of just using an open flame
>>21778142It works well but I use an Instant Pot. Five minutes at pressure, five minute until pressure release, and if you want them to cool and be a bit easier to peel, five minutes in cold water. Works perfectly. If I didn't have an Instant Pot, I'd still use the microwave cooker.
I dont post often, much less on /ck/, but I'm sorry you are a dumbass nigger gorilla retard if you are considering an egg cooking mono tasker. How do you complicate boiling water and putting an egg in I mean what the FUCK?
>>21778289pls read the other posts before posting dumdum stuff
>>21778040It takes 10 minutes just to boil a pot of water, then another 8 to cook the eggs. With the egg cooker, it only takes 8 minutes start to finish. Definitely worth it for me but I eat a lot of boiled eggs.
>>21778250Yes, if you are doing hard boiled. Put them in a bowl of cold water for a few and they peel right off. I lightly roll them betwen my hands and the shell just peels off
>>21778032>Are egg boilers worth it?a sauce pan?
>>21778040>You just don't have to babysit itwho the fuck has to babysit boiling water for 7 minutes?
>>21778305>It takes 10 minutes just to boil a pot of waterstopusinggasstoves.
one taskone eggone reich
>>21778032Depends on how you like your eggs.In my limited experience the equivalent of a 'proper' 7 - 8 minute egg doesn't often get achieved correctly. You'll have to look for this range specifically in the reviews if that's what you like.If you enjoy your eggs a little more cooked you can do whatever and yes it'll be worth it.Also JFC why is the thread sperging so hard?
>>21778473My egg cooker came with a measuring cup with marks for soft, medium, and hard. Filling it up just above soft will give a 7 minute egg, a bit below medium will give an 8 minute one. Easy.
>>21778588Sounds based. As I said it's not a given they have a good way to get that consistency in my experience.
Depends on how often you make eggs. I wouldn't get one just for the weekend breakfast
I got that stomach bug that takes carbs and brews them into beer, basically, and had to do keto for like, a year straightI got one of these and used it multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a dayI still use it, just not as oftenMeat tenderizers, rolling pins, potato ricers are all unitaskers unless you weaponize them so anyone who gives you shit for owning one when you have the space and luxury for it tell them to fuck off and if they have a problem introduce them to your egg flail
>>21778032Can I do this with a yogurt maker?
>>21778739>I got that stomach bug that takes carbs and brews them into beerHow did you notice it?
>>21778473Mine isn't even on there. I like the yolk to have the gray on the outside of it :)
>>21779305Clearly he would get plastered after eating a donut.
They're good. They break though. If you have a family who like a soft boiled egg, they're a godsend. Pop the eggs in the machine, go do something for five minutes, come back and pop the eggs in cold water. Do some toast and wala
>>21778040this. I bought an airfryer even tho I a pretty decent oven. Its the perfect "I dont wanna fuck with this" device, I can toss a bag of wings glazed with just a few teaspoons of olive oil and they come out perfect and crispy everytime in like 12 minute. Its especially useful in the summer where turning my main oven turns my whole house into a hotbox
>>21778118you dont have to eat em all at once, you could probably meal prep 3 days worth before they start to spoil
>>21778032No
>>21778035>it's 10 minutes. For a hard boiled egg with hard yolk.Disgusting.Adding eggs to boiling water for 6 minutes, gives you a nice runny yolk and the white is cooked enough.Although, Americans are allergic to runny egg yolks, this is why they flip their fried eggs upside down. They will never know the awesomeness that is buttered toast soldiers dipped into a perfectly cooked egg or two.
>>21778289>I dont post often, much less on /ck/, but I'm sorry you are a dumbass nigger gorilla retard.Thank Christ you don't post here that often with that stupid diatribe, you came across as a complete fuck-wit in one sentence. But that is OK Rabbi, brother Bibi forgives you.
If you have an air fryer that has a low heat, no fan mode you can make them in that.
>>21778458> One eggWow, is that USB powered?
>>21778032I have this.
>>21779319Sure you do. And you like your steak extra black like charcoal too.
>>21779305>>21779323Not plastered, but yeahMore like lol I'm tipsy after eating breakfast every morningIt was fun for a few days but then reality set in
Boiled eggs last a month and require almost zero effort, what kind of retard would buy a special device just to boil water
>>21778256This. I make a dozen at a time and then have a constant stockpile in the fridge.
>>21779650>what kind of retard would buy a special device just to boil waterYeah, crazy...
>>21779705It's faster and more energy efficient to boil water in the microwave
>>21778032I don't like the faint sulphur smells of steaming eggs and boiling just werks
>>21779319This man farts sulfur.
>>21779806Nope, that's both completely wrong.A kettle has way more power than the average microwave and is significantly faster at boiling water. And since the heating element (100% efficient by definition) is directly on the water and everything is insulated it's very efficient. While a microwave has conversion and radiation losses.
>>21780179It takes 3 minutes to boil 2 cups of water in a standard microwave. Kettles are useless kitchen accessories now that microwaves are everywhere >inb4 microwaved water doesn't taste the same Yes it does, it's just hot water. Plus you can microwave the water in glass, instead of heating it up in some mostly plastic bullshit that leeches all kinds of nonsense into the water
>>21780205have you ever tried only putting 2 cups of water in a kettle and seeing how long it takes for it to boil
>>21780205>It takes 3 minutes to boil 2 cups of water in a standard microwave. Kettles are useless kitchen accessories now that microwaves are everywhereThe difference is UK vs US power is more efficient. An electric kettle does quantities nicer than microwave, so if you're making tea AND oatmeal AND cocoa AND whatever else in your house, it's one stop shopping, especially on some breakfast buffet where you can move your kettle from the kitchen to a patio or table. For real tea freaks, you have the ideal temp settings to match your black vs green vs white teas differences. That said, I use a microwave, but I'll drag out a kettle from the pantry for weekends and house guests too. I might do a plug-in percolator after dinner for decaf coffee people wanting some for dessert courses.
>>21779569I do like a crudt, but medium well. I'm sure anything other than rare to you is "well done/charcoal".
>>21778032You're cooking it wrong.Just pour boiling water on the eggs you want cooked in small container and close the lid, and wait.3 minutes for soft6 minutes for half9 minutes for hardIt's the same as the egg cooker. You don't need useless kitchen appliance No. 21778032
>>21779564This is repurposed kernel poper
>>21779705But you use the kettle for making all sorts of hot drinks. And realistically you will be using it every day.An egg boiler is not, unless you're into weird egg centered diet.
>>21780179You're an idiot.Microwave is more energy efficient to heat the same amount of water. The problem, microwave is way too fast and good at doing it you can sometimes create steam explosions with still water.
>>21781944>Microwave is more energy efficient to heat the same amount of water.Nope.Microwave has losses, an electric kettle doesn't.
>>21781945For illustration.Notice the fan there? That cools the electrronics.Meaning there is energy wasted and turned to heat which is then blown out away from the water you're trying to heat.In a kettle all the heat generated, even the "waste" heat, is thermally insulated together with the water, ensuring that almost all the energy used actually heats the water
>>21781952You miss an important thing anon.Water has internal resistance to being heated.Microwave overcome that. You can test it yourself, just put 1L of 25 C water in both and calculate how long it needs to reach 100 C
>>21781957People have done this, I think even Technology Connections did it once. The electric kettle was always faster.
Sounds really useful but I lack space to put things.
>>21781960>Technology Connections>AGP tranny in denial.
>>21781971Who cares, just google it and you find different people doing that experiment.Like:https://blog.dchidell.com/2017/06/22/boiling-water-kettle-vs-microwave/Or this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMpC6tbrERMThe kettle is faster and more efficient.
