My dad has this set of expensive pans he got a few decades ago that my niece scratched up with a brillo pad or something. He's very butthurt about it even though everyone is telling him that it doesn't affect the performance, this has been going on for months, and at this point I just want to fix them to shut him up because logic isn't working. What would it take to restore the near-mirror finish that it came with? I got some diamond paste on ebay and tried doing it by hand with a rag, but it didn't do much.I am a soy boy and I don't know much about this macho man stuff. Would some sort of power tool plus diamond paste be the solution? What power tool, specifically, do real macho men use to fix problems like this?Pic not the actual pan but I'm not going all the way to my dad's place just to take a picture for 4chan.

>>21780052Definitely not this. That's what I use to *not* scratch the pan. Same with soft scrub. It needs to be something harder than steel.
>>21780049if the pan can't survive getting cleaned it doesn't deserve a mirror polish
>>21780049>this pan has some material removed from it in the form of scratches, what can i do to undo this?sanding machine and a selection of finer and finer grits
just use a power drill attachment to a set of sanding disc pads if you're only going to do this kind of shit once in a blue moon. If you're out to impress your dad get some fine wet sanding polish at the end with a felt disc to make it a mirror finish that will last for literally one cooking sessionif you have any old cars in the family you can use the same sanding disc set to clean up a couple of sets of fogged headlights
I can't tell how deep those scratches are from the picture but it's steel so you can just sand it down. get some 320 grit wet/dry sandpaper and glue it to something flat and round and then sit there and sand the bottom until it's smooth. if it still looks rough compared to the original finish do it again with 400 grit paper.
I hope he punched that bitch in the ass
Just buy one of the soft pad drill attachments if you or your dad has a drill, and some Scotchbrite stainless scouring pads, like these. Put a bit of water in the pan, (not much, just a few tablespoons worth), and press thr stainless Scotchbrite pad into the pand with the drill and drill pad, and run the drill keeping the pad moving around. The stainless scouring pad should buff the surface smooth. Afterwards, wash the pan and put some vinegar in the pan to help build up the oxide layer in the pan again. Are you sure it was a Brillo pad? Brillo pads are supposedly just stainless steel wool embedded with soap, so the scratches should not be that deep? Those scratches look closer to what nylon Scotchbtite pads embedded with aluminum oxide abrasive would produce.
You can usually get a used Bridgeport at a reasonable price and they're useful for so many other things.
that looks like pitting from a dishwasher a brillo pad wouldn't do that
>>21781073I think it was one of those scotchbrite pads. Also it's not the actual pan, that's just something I found on google image search
>>21780049I think your best bet is to use a green scotch and scrub the pan in circles following the grain until those scratches blend in.
>>21780049Buy a Dremel rotary tool and attach any bit with a diamond tip. Smear some of that diamond paste on it and then drill it through your dad's skull for the crimes of being a faggot and raising a faggot.Hit it with some sandpaper and very fine sandpaper.
Just sand it by hand back to a mirror finish with sand paper.
>>21781600if these mfs can do this to their vehicles a pan is nothing
>>21780798At least she was doing the dishes
>>21781601What ever was the point of these?
>>21780049The scratches will never go away because someone fucked up really bad and I would be mad too but this shit is not half as expensive or premium as you think it is otherwise that pan would never look like that. The coating must be absolute shit but you can still get rid of all the dark spots. All you need is alumum foil. Turn it into a ball and start working that shit when the pan is warm (not too hot). Use some water obviously and some baking soda or something like barkeeper's friend or similar. I can't find that youtube video anymore but that's what fixed my completely burnt Demeyere Proline pan, it was the only thing that actually worked

>>21780049Wet sandpaper. Start with 800 grit and gradually move up to 2000.
>>21781666you live in it when you're traveling. america is a massive country and many people enjoy driving through it to visit new places and go sightseeing. many people tow a camper to have a comfortable place to stay during their trip while also being a little bit more outdoors than they would be at home.
>>21780049your dad is a massive bitch. the entire point of ss pans is you can beat the fuck out of em
>>21780231>get some fine wet sanding polish at the end with a felt disc to make it a mirror finish that will last for literally one cooking session kek
>>21781666You live cheaply in a camping until you find work, but one day someone rapes your wife and she ends up cataleptic but you insist on finding who attacked her and she recognises the guy and points him out so you murder him and then when you're driving away she sees another guy and think he's the rapist too.
>>21783777>>21784044No, you clowns. I meant the highly-polished ones.
>>217845451. polishing protects against weathering and rust2. looks cool
>>21780049half the point of stainless steel pans is that they can scratch and still be totally fine to cook on, but just by the construction (rivets and handle) that is 100% a really shitty household brand-name pan he probably bought in a bulk set when it wasn't on sale like a retard unfortunately
>>21780049>dumb foid>ruins a man's thing>other foids defend herHe should just kill them
>scratch pan meant to be scratched by design>it's ruined because it's not pretty anymore!foidbrained opinion
>>21784044It's so other drivers can see around corners, like a curved mirror.
>>21784545keeps it cool in the summer because the sun reflects off of it instead of being absorbed
I have one that is like 100% scratched, seems to hold oil or butter to the surface better than a shiny pan.
