>win a dégustation tasting menu at a Michelin star restaurant
>get to try all the expensive and weird foods I never did before
>foie gras, caviar, tartare, all manner of weird spherified sauces and exotic vegetables and curated dishes
>they all range from okay to bad
I want some Greek salad and roasted pork now.

Did you have foie gras in terrine or a sauteed piece? The former is basically glorified butter but the latter is top tier stuff

It is because you ate for free. If you had paid a few hundred bucks, your own brain would have gaslighted you into thinking you had an enlightening experience to cope with the money you lost.

>tranime poster has childlike palate and cannot appreciate real culture
Many such cases. You will never be a woman by the way.

They had both. A cold rectangular pâté with a cured quail yolk and some thin slices of something vegetable, and a grilled piece, that felt like eating a warm pimple.

>Michelin star restaurant
used to be the undisputed gold standard in fine dining, but its influence has definitely shifted over time
it’s still idolized by dimwits and poors

But I do have an extensive palette, I cook real meals daily and like all the icky food manchildren avoid. I just felt that this stuff was not worth the price and was overhyped.
Except caviar, I like it, but it isn't meant to be exclusive or rare, fish roe is cheap and you can get tins of it from Russia.

>palette
the absolute state

It makes more sense if you think about it.

Sorry, but if you rank all of the new items as okay to bad, then yes something may be wrong with you and your palate or you forgot to do a wine pairing, lol

Your taste buds are fried, sad

They were okay, just nothing I would order again instead of more conventional dishes, even if the price was the same.

No, those items you need to have an appreciation for the flavors. Hard to explain.
Its like smoking weed the first time and not understanding what youre supposed to be experiencing.
