Is it worth it to grow your own mushrooms for eating?
Only if you have access to free mulch and wood, only buy spores instead of a gimmick kit, and can deal with the large scale production required to make it work, turn your basement into a mushroom gas chamber or something.
I think it depends on a number of things. How much space you have, what you are growing, how much you want to grow, how much you want to use, the natural availability in your area.

>>21780623Is buying a kit even cheaper than buying from the store? Maybe it's worth it for more rarer types of mushrooms. Otherwise, fpbp, just delegate the task to those who can specialize in it
I bought one of the little box growing kits from amazon and it worked wonderfully. I think it was blue oyster mushrooms. The box kit yielded a lot more than a package of oyster mushrooms from Whole Foods and it was way cheaper than buying a comparable amount from WF. Plus watching the mushrooms grow was fun.

>>21780765You don't think the mushrooms would be at least mildly annoyed to know that you only grow them just to cut them up and eat them?
