Wild garlic that I get for free because it grows near my house.

I don't understand why people use convenience garlic products instead of buying a head of garlic and mincing cloves as needed. It takes no time at all to mince fresh garlic and it tastes so much better than any jarred or tubed garlic product.

>>21781523it gets destroyed when you cook it anyway dipshit
>>21781528depends on the application. fresh garlic for instance is good for a sofrito while preminced garlic adds deep flavor to marinades

>>21781528>>21781523if im making pasta or something where garlic is a focus of course i will just mince or slice garlic. if im just making a stir fry or korean/chinese food im not going to mince the 10-12 cloves I normally want cause it would take ages i just dump in the preminced stuff. In a similar sense if I'm making guac or something I dont want to get a pan out just to fry garlic to cut the harshness of fresh garlic, I'd rather just use garlic powder.
i literally just ordered minced garlic on instacart and then checked this board and saw this thread, are you me from 5 minutes ago OP
>>21781324I never use jarred garlic. I don't think it lasts very long once opened, too easy to get botulism, plus they taste crappy and pasteurized from a jar.I just whack cloves in the paper, right on my cutting board to peel them quickly. I have two kinds of powder, the coarser granulated powder, and finer ground garlic powders both. I tend to like the coarser stuff for rubs, the finer stuff for seasoning breadings or adding to recipes.
