ITT: We post dishes people overcomplicate. I'll start: ramen. It's literally just instant noodles in a broth with whatever shit you want to add to it. Fucking "shoyu ramen" is just ramen with some soy sauce added to the broth. It's not some kind of mysterious Japanese secret recipe found in the tomb of the first shogun.

>instant noodles
off to a good start
>>
>>21783613
>chicken sandwich
literally just a chicken burger
>>
>soup
Its literally just flavored water
>>
>>21783613
>Chili
It's literally just some beans
>>

tonkotsu is complicated
>10+hr simmered strained pork broth
>chasyu rolled and simmered and marinated in soy sauce, mirin, sake, garlic and ginger overnight, then has to be sliced, each piece being seared with a torch to order
>softboiled eggs, marinated in soy sauce overnight
>dashi is like 5-6 ingredients and takes an anywhere from an hour to overnight to make
>black garlic oil
>all the other toppings to prep
>scallions, mushrooms, nori all pictured in OP
>not accounting for bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, burdock, fried garlic, naruto fishcake, cabbage, ginger...

Every ramen variation has its own stupidly long list of ingredients, prep times, and order of arrangement. Stick to Maruchan if you can't hang with the big boy ramen
>>
>coffee
just a hot drink with activated almonds water, some sugar, cream, salted caramel syrup, pumpkin spice and chilli
>>
>tea
boiled leaves
>>
hamburger is just pre-chewed steak

it's just egg

I'm just saying it's not as simple as top ramen. I'm sure as shit not making that shit at home

All this effort for the cheapest food on earth aka ramen noodles and it still tastes like shit. You sound like a beta male hipster faggot
>>
>>21783808
We're discussing food here, not what your boyfriend calls you when he beat you.
It is pretty cheap, in that it doesn't cost much money to make, but if you read my post, it certainly makes up for that in time spent
I hope you're not confused thinking too ramen is the same as tonkotsu
>>
>>21783613
OP forgot its meds.
>>
>>21783613
>mashed potatoes
>boiled, mashed, add milk, butter, salt, pepper, etc
Dumb as hell. Overcomplicating things as usual, here's how you make the real thing
>potato
>eat it raw and uncooked
Also, farming keeps getting overcomplicated.
For starters, it's retarded. Why grow food in dirt when you just eat dirt? Smh
>>
>>21783664
>chili
>beans
It literally isn't. It's meat and chili peppers.
>>
>>21783933
Nah, just beans
You're overcomplicating things
>>
>>21783613
Ah but that's the wonder of cooking. You just do things or proportion them a little differently and you can make up some extravagant name afterward. Cooking is simple and easy like that.
>>
>>21783613
>grilled cheese
Just put 2 slices of bread in the oven with cheese on them until it melts and then mash ‘em together. You don’t need pans and melted butter or any of this other BS
>>
>>21783613
Isn't Ramen as we know it less than 200 years old? It's literally an iteration/copy of Chinese noodles (La Mien).
>>
>>21783665
>blowtorching chaashuu
pretentious and unnecessary
>burdock
You are really reaching for toppings here
>dashi
???

Traditional Fukuoka-style tonkotsu ramen is literally just broth, noodles, chaashuu and negi, with sesame, pickled ginger, oils and other self-serve toppings on the counter. It's literally just about making the broth.
>>
>>21783665
>tonkotsu
OP is talking about noodle soup, not fried pork cutlets.
>>
>>21783613
>every meal op eats
Its just cock.
>>
>>21783995
The invention of Japanese ramen is typically attributed to a restaurant called Rairaiten in Asakusa, which opened in 1910. There had been various Chinese noodle shops in and around Chinatowns since the 1850s.
>>
>>21783808
You’re fucking retarded if you think instant noodles is the same as actual ramen.
>>
>>21783646
>chicken burger
all aussie posters need to be range banned.
>>
>>21783665
>tonkotsu
this word alone makes it pretentious.
>>
Of all recipes, the overcomplicated one you choose is ramen? When a lot of western dishes consist in heating the meat in 3 ways like letting it marinate during 12 hours with 12 ingredients then pan then oven then mashed then cooked again then mixed, or to cook it during 12 hours to
>keep flavors
?
You're fucking retarded, OP.

>We're discussing food here, not what your boyfriend calls you when he beat you.

It's even simpler than that. Cook some indomie but don't throw out the water, just make it into a soup. Add some more seasoning if it's too diluted. Fucking done. This is better than any expensive ramen. Ramen snobs utterly BTFO.

>fried pork cutlets
They are called tonkAtsu not tonkOtsu.
>>
>>21783665
I made a tonkotsu at home. It boils for like 16 hours (not simmers) so you have to keep refilling the water but it’s not too difficult unless you’ve never made a stock in your life
>>
>>21783613
When I want to slurp some 'men, I do it simple:
>shred two precooked roast chicken breasts
>tear up some chinese cabbage and pak choi
>fry together to get some colour/flavour
>add the contents of whatever spicy brand instant noodles that has broth after preperation
>big scoop of kimchi at the end and maybe even a pre-cooked hardboiled egg from the store too

Wahla.
>>
Bahn mi. It's just a cold cut sandwich.

Whatever meat you have, whatever herbs, whatever. Zero fucks. These used to cost 15c in Hanoi before the tourist plague. Before Hanoi was Chinese.
>>
>>21783613
>It's not some kind of mysterious Japanese secret recipe found in the tomb of the first shogun.
Wow I'm really sold on eating the cooking you criticize and not the one you produce, Anon. You're no fun nothing appetizing just carbon.
>>
>>21783613
beef wellington, literally just wrap beef in instant dough. add some A1 sauce if you want on top. british "cooking"
>>
>>21783613
I kind of agree. I made some ramen with proper ramen noodles and a bouillon cube it's the same thing flavor wise as instant but with slightly better noodles. The real difference should be the broth - better broth, better ramen, but broth is super easy to make, just takes time depending what you're doing.

>you can spend 42 hours making a pork bone broth like a weeb
>or boil some leftover chicken bones with some vegetables and make a simple, yet tasty broth
>or take some dried mushrooms and soak them for 30-60 minutes in hot water and use that as a base for a simple but rich broth, throw some soy sauce in there, MSG, extra salt to taste, and there you go
>or just toss in a chicken bouillon cube, some chili flakes, and a chopped green onion like me
