It was tasty.

I rediscovered broccoli-rice-cheese casserole recently. It was a surprisingly good meal, so your cauliflower was probably good as well

Broccoli, cauliflower and especiallly brussel sprouts are like THE trio of veggies that you later after childhood feel like having to apologise to.
They are the ones that are only hated because of being forced to eat them as a kid, mostly even prepared in a way that makes them taste like nothing. Cooked or steamed broccoli with nothing, not even salt - oh be still trembling taste buds of mine...
Correctly prepared and actually used as ingredient in dishes bringing out the best of them the three can be super delicious.
Also with brussel sprouts you can get very bad bitter tasting ones that weren't properly frozen on the plant beforehand. Properly harvested brussel sprouts prepared correctly are damn yummy.

It's a strange one.
In some parts of the UK it was used as a side dish to a Sunday Roast but it wasn't part of my families tradition.

We ate it almost as a main, with a few sausages perhaps. Nothing about poverty, it was just the way we ate it.
