Does anyone here actually drink raw milk?
>>
>>21789597
I don't drink milk in general because I'm not an evil person
>>
>>21789597
i used to, its pretty good, creamy, but the ranch i got it from got shut down and ive never bothered with it since, not worth getting sick from it either i dont care how small the chance is
>>
I consume way too much milk to be able to afford to use raw milk even if I wanted to, which I don't. Raw milk is a literal scam to bleed money from the wealthy.

>>
>>21789597
Nah, I would though. Just heat it up at home for safety, it's only the actual tards that think they'll ruin the nutrients doing that.
I love to get Amish cream top milk. It's been heated to food safety standards but isn't industrially pasteurized or cut with water. I'll drink normal milk though, but it's definitely not as yummy
>>
Nah. I drink so little milk, even the pasteurized stuff spoils in the fucking fridge
>>
>>21789628
the lactose free stuff lasts way longer
>>
I get the homogenized from Costco, makes me feel homogenized.
>>
>>21789597
Cooking destroys nutrients and beneficial bacteria. That's why a well done steak only has half of it's nutrients, boiling is worse, and slow cooking for hours is the worst.
200 years ago at the start of the industrial age, food safety, refrigeration, and transportation were foul. I'd like to believe we are better at it in current year, but with mass production, some things will slip between the cracks and people will get sick.
>>
>>21789722
cooking also makes some nutrients easier to absorb and lets you eat more possibly increasing your overall nutrient intake
>>
>>21789597
God didn’t make shortform scam content on the internet either, so we should ignore this fool in your retarded image.
>>
>>21789597
Yes. I drink raw milk and consume all sorts of delicious dairy products made with raw milk. I even use kefir to ferment the raw milk cheese I make.

Im making kefir cultured cheese with 7isj gallons of raw milk at this very moment.
>>
>>21789722
Pasteurization also denatures enzymes.
>>
>>21789723
Cooking destroys defense compounds in plants, but boiling and steaming destroys water soluble vitamins like B and C, so what are you left with? just the indigestible fiber. If you wanted to eat pre-digested plant matter, you'd eat your own shit like a rabbit, or eat herbivores like cows that can ferment plants.
>>
>>21789731
True, that's how you can handle the anti-nutrients in egg clears by cooking them.
>>
>>21789742
Those aren't enzymes, but they are dentured through heating similar to enzymes. The enzymes in milk are good for you.
>>
Nobody is going to try your schizo raw primal diet! Humans can't handle bad bacteria, we can't even eat food off the floor like animals. TRUST THE SCIENCE

Pretty much all lactose free stuff, even the stuff in the fridge at the supermarket, is UHT. That's why it lasts an eternity.

I'd like to try it at least once, but I don't live near any dairy farms, so there's no way for me to actually get any. I'd only feel comfortable consuming raw milk that came from a small, very well organized dairy farm that I was actually able to talk to and feel reassured that the cows were kept in good, clean conditions and that the milk was clean. Pretty much like how I'd also view any unpasteurized juice or cider. Unless I'm making it myself, I'd like to at least be sure I know whoever did make it washed everything.
>>
>>21789912
First of all, there's nothing wrong with appeal to nature.
Secondly, drinking milk straight from the udder is ideal, but you're playing a game of telephone between the udder, the milkmaid, the packer, the trucker, the shelfer, and everyone inbetween and their grimey hands and surfaces that it comes in contact with.
Finally, water is bad for you because of all the pathogens and washing out your minerals, and you would get hydration from blood, raw meat, fruits, and plants.
>>
Yes. The farm I bought from used to offer raw on site and pasteurized at markets where I would be buy. When the state made it legal to sell raw at markets they switched entirely to selling raw it was so popular.

I think it's mostly a meme but I like them so I kept buying after they switch to raw only. It's been fun to be able to try things that won't work with pasteurized.
>>
Yes, raw milk and cream subscribed to. We formed a collective that buys the milk from Amish farmer cooperative, pick up only, and formed a transportation network who alternate towing a trailer after retrieving the dairy from the farmers. We do a flash self pick up at varying locations. We all live on the north side of Chicago. It's a set number of families. We sign a waiver for each lot. Works for us, we are all white professionals.

Heat only destroys. It doesn't magically pre-digest food for you. The only reason people are so anal about food safety is because they get scared from the few fringe cases in where children died from drinking raw milk that was improperly stored and got listeria or they ate hamburger from feed lots where they wallow in their own shit. Guess what, most people aren't 2-6 years old with developing immune systems.

Yes, cooking kills bacteria, but it also destroys nutrients.

>Heat only destroys. It doesn't magically pre-digest food for you.
it breaks down food to make it easier to digest. fibers soften, protein breaks down, fat melts. starch tastes bad and isn't easy to digest. pretty much every study you'll find will tell you that an equal amount of calories from cooked food results in more weight gained compared to raw.
>>
>>21791052
>the few fringe cases in where children died from drinking raw milk
it's only a few fringe cases because it's not common. if everyone was drinking raw milk you'd be seeing more deaths. how often do you hear about people getting sick from pasteurized milk despite how commonly it's consumed?
>>
>>21791075
Bad water kills 7k people/year and gets around 7 million people sick in the usa.
>>

I used to drink raw goat milk but I have to drive an hour to get it, which is a pain in the ass, so I don't anymore.

>>21791126
all it takes is civilization, farms or agriculture near it to fuck it up completely, let alone evil corporations that purposefully fuck up water sources just to sell their bottle water, this isn't fairy tales land
>>
>>21791132
Romans had fresh water delivered to them through concrete aqueducts and they were fine 2000 years ago but somehow, we regressed and are scared of icky germs.
>>
>>21791128
It entirely depends on their sanitation practices. If you have a closed milking system that has been sanitized properly and your cows are healthy the raw milk is 100% safe to drink. If you're milking a dirty ass cow straight into a bucket and flies are falling into the bucket you should boil it if you plan on drinking.
I've been drinking raw milk, homemade kefir and eating homemade cheese from my own cow for months. I feel better than I did prior to increasing my raw dairy intake.
>>
>>21791140
I'd still boil it, because I don't fall for who knows whom psyops, I'll trust tradition instead
>>
>>21791138
Except they suffered from water contamination/pollution on a regular basis, they definitely weren't "fine." But you go ahead and drink whatever puddle water you think is safe there Bub.
>>
>>21791138
and if the usa only had a million people like rome it might be easier to deliver naturally safe water to everyone but that's not the case.

a single farmer milking a cow and drinking it raw and supplying it to neighbors is less likely to cause widespread illness like milking millions of cows and mixing that milk together.
>>
>>21791143
Tradition is clean milking and healthy cows bro, not pasteurization. Raw milk is essential for great cheese making anyways...
Unhealthy cows and unsanitary milking conditions is what causes sickness. Look up the history of pasteurized milk and you'll see that is exactly how people died from raw milk
>>
>>21791143
Pic is what pasteurization allows. Billions of puss cells per glass of milk from sick cows.
>>
>>21791138
romans also didn't have industrial farms that were mass-treated with carcinogenic pesticides
>>
>>21791148
i don't think anyone arguing that pure raw milk isn't safe. it's just at a high risk for contamination and causing sickness with the way things are done today.

you can say everything should just be kept cleaner and there's some truth to that but how many people are going to be okay with the increased cost that comes with that? the regulations are mostly so big companies don't end up making millions of people sick with contaminated milk.

there are methods of making raw milk safe to drink that don't involve heat and it would be interesting to see these developed more

>>
>>21791177
The pus is a part of it, the health of the cow. A cow's health, breed, freshness of milk and what they are fed is the other part.

The thing with raw milk is that there are real benefits to it, but there is also risk. Just like many things in life it is up to the individual to recognize these risks and either avoid them or accept them.

Honestly, to get sick from raw milk you need to really fuck it up and be what would amount to criminally neglectful to your cows. if you have ever been within 10 feet of a dairy cow, you will immediately understand why pasteurization is so important

Of course, you can always just ignore this, drink this contaminated garbage, and die of listeria I guess

>>21791696
this
interesting thing about listeria is, it's cold resistant. Multiplies just as quickly in a fridge. And it's one of the most common bacterial contaminants in milk. Storing milk properly won't stop listeria, only heat will.

got listeria (or at least what i'm guessing was it) last year from chipotle when they had an outbreak of it. had a sharp pain in my intestines for 2 weeks. fever-like chills. thankfully laying down helped and i could sleep fine but it fucking sucked.

Interesting concept I haven't heard of but I really don't have a desire to drink raw milk. I might do it if I could get pasteurized whole milk and some meat though.

Who vetoed a version of it the year before. GOP were the ones pushing it and drinking it.

I used to be into it but it's generally not worth having to drive out of my way to a store that sells it, and for multiple dollars more than a normal gallon of whole milk. That said, I do still like it as a bit of a treat every so often.
>>
>>21789597
Did it for years, one liter on a daily base. Beside taste there is literally no difference to the store bought pasteurized.
>>
>>21789605
Its cheaper than store bought.

different taste implies there is a difference

Not in my area. it's like 8 dollars for a half gallon at the local dairy.

they'd piss their own pants if the government (the feds) told them not to piss their own pants.

Not dairy cows, by my in-laws raise cows. They’re disgusting creatures. A bajillion acres to roam in, fresh water available, and what do they do? They stand in a pit of the own feces half the time and drink the runoff from it.

it's so refreshing watching rightoids decry so many practices/processes in modern society as liberal conspiracies meant to keep good things away from us, and then watching them rediscover why we have said processes in place to begin with.

Why do you think that's what I WANT them to do?

Kek at raw milk sheeple who can’t see it’s just a marketing ploy to sell milk that’s cheaper to produce at wildly inflated prices.

The reason raw milk is more expensive to sell legally/commercially is because of the significantly higher regulations it has to reduce the risk of food born illness. It requires much more testing for both the animals and the milk, more expensive equipment, feed, etc. The milk goes "bad" faster so wastage also increases price. Usually smaller scale farmers produce raw milk, which means it will inherently be pricier. There's more to it than even that, but hopefully that will be enough for you. :)

What regulations? It's illegal to sell for human consumption in the US so there are no regulations for it.

It's tragic. Waning institutional power and a culture that doesn't even have a context to explain that. White people /feel/ like something is wrong and, in their attempt to "do something", keep inventing different fad diets. What a genuinely tragic end.
