We ate early this year. Here's our spread. Show yours, if applicable!
>>21797965looks good. merry christmas
It’s not Christmas yet…
I feel bad for all yall who aren't Italian on Christmas eve
>>21798023holeee fuck that looks good. what all is there?
>>21798024Baked class, fried clam strips, crab cakes, crab dip, spicy cod roe spaghetti, spaghetti with shrimp mussels and clams in pink sauce, shrimp oreginata, salmon, scallops, lobster tails, eggplant rolatini pizza, random pepperoni and cheeses, crackers and breadThe tradition is at least 7 fish
I wish I had a metabolism good enough to enjoy all of that and then want breakfast the next morning.
>>21797965>Here's our spreadkill yourself
>>21798027looks good brother
>>21798042That's not very christ money of you
>>21798030... you know, I was friends with a Sicilian family in New England and they did spreads of pasta, homemade sauce, braciole, meatballs, sausage, baked ziti, that sort of thing. But your stuff is a whole other level
>>21798058It's supposed to be meatless, I vetoed the chicken but I couldn't stop the charcuterieThey sneaked that in under my noseMy cousin brought her boyfriend and my mom was saying "we need chicken in case he doesn't eat fish" and I said "if he doesn't eat fish he shouldn't come to a seafood dinner then. This is the one ethnic thing we do that I actually care about"So that's why there's eggplant
>>21798027What are the lemons and pickles for? Palate cleansers?
>>21798068ohh I get it, yeah it would look a lot different if it was a seafood feast. Still though, very ambitious, at least to me.
>>21798075Pretty much>>21798108Made all these desserts too, oatmeal cookie pies and 7 layer cookies, and sweet potato pieThe cheesecake was brought by a guest
>>21798119do any of you speak Italian? just curious
>>21798142Nope, been meaning to learn a little but just never didOne time my grandpa had a lot of wine. His cheeks were bright red and he started speaking Italian to cousin Joe from Calabria and Joe leans over and goes "I don't know what that was but it wasn't Italian"
I'm always proud of my mac n cheese pie each year.
>>21798182Here's the pie itself, cut down in a grid.Just about everyone compliments how cheesy and tasty it is
I got a slow-cooked and then roasted ham with a salty maple glaze, some homefries with buffalo ranch, and some roast veggies with a cream sauce.Just eating alone, but going to open some presents after lunch :]
>>21798182>>21798183that does look fantastic. I would keep a list of anyone who doesn't like a cheesy pasta bake like that, because anyone who doesn't clearly cannot be trusted
>>21797965Eating for ONE anon? Hehe
Rate my Christmas dinner
>>21798300that's a lot of dressing on your salad you nasty bitch
>>21798304Eh I hadn’t mixed it in yet, and it’s also crumbled Gorgonzola cheese so it looks like more than it really is
>>21798300you can never go röng with a spiral ham
>>21798226whelp that was delicious, and should get 2-3 more meals out of the leftovers ;]
>>21797965Prime rib, twice baked potatoes, green beans, sourdough rolls, apple pie.
I regret not buying an extra box of that turkey gravy costco sells back at thanksgiving. I got plenty of turkey broth in the freezer to make some but that stuff was basically perfect as-is.
>>21798335Just opened my Christmas parcels which were sent from overseas. My mum tries to get me stuff I can't buy locally which is much appreciated
>>21798384Bless her, anon. Not to be trite, but let her know you appreciate her even if you already do. My mum used to make Christmas magical even when I was a cynical adult. When she died it was bleak, until I had a daughter, she's made it magical again.
>>21798335How did you get that tiny picture?
>>21798390I use my tiny picture machine. It's fun
>>21798388Thanks anon. I'll be calling tomorrow (Christmas Day their time) and I'll let her know!
>>21798398Good man. Hope you have a good day. I think I'm a little envious about the salt water taffy.
>>21798395Do the pictures last for long? Or do they cannish or crumble in months. This could be the solution for my food diary
>>21798407they last years. Just store them in a dry place, they thrive in a shoebox, especially if you can keep seasonal humidity.
>>21798409Thank you
Ate lastnight because Finnish customs, we had a 7 people small form feast of mostly traditional stuff. Here is variety of cassaroles, from the back: yam, carrot, rutabaga, liver and last my fovorite one sweetened potato. masked potato kept in 55-70c for 12 hours with a bit of flour so entzymes break the starch into sugars, real good stuff.Few more potato phone pics coming
>>21798466Main table from bottom: rosolli, gravlox, bit of turkey, smoked salmon, pile of ham, butter, lingonberries and dark bread.Ham was 7kg before cooking, took all night and now it's finished with mustard and breadcrumb coat
>>21798469last pic from cut ham that is the main meat here, sorry about photo quality
>>21798466>>21798469>>21798472Looks very wholesome anon. And yes your phone does not do any of your food justice. Also where are the licorice pipes?
>>21798482Thanks anon.Photos were real blurry as i took em in a hurry with literal 60e phone, prioritized family meal over clarity.liquorish pipes are mostly available on taxfree cruises and we don't really go on those unless visiting extended family in Sweden, i would have like those though.
>>21798472Is it me or is that ham drier than Nanci Pelosi's snatch?
>>21798472>>21798469dry meat
>>21798491>>21798500pretty stendard stuff i'd say, it looks dryer than it's.we cooked it 7 hours at 125c, it gets really tender, so much to thinner pieces break apart when pierced by fork. overall, not dry but not juicy steak moist, just crumbly occasionally. i greatly enjoyed it
>>21797965Looks very generic and basic. A bit of third world vibe as well. Hardly a spread. Not enough food here to be called a spread.
>>21797977Fuck off bot
>>21798023>>21798027Poverty food that is not fit for Christmas
>>21798533you could be a little more polite. it's Christmas for Christ's sake.
>>21798030Shitty sea food for X Mas? You must be a retarded Europoor.
>>21798119Take this gay shit back to red-dit
>>21798539You are too stupid to live. Merry Christmas!
>>21797965I don't know if I'm gonna make it to dinner before I fall asleep. But I had curry for lunch, and my brother had some of the curry in his lunch too
>>21798472the lighting on this is unfortunate. the ham looks dark purple
I was on Christmas Eve Duty because my mom felt lazy. I did Brian Lagerstrom's enchilada recipe but with chicken because it's pretty good with a side of just eyeballing black beans and a salad. Gotta make a tiramisu in like a couple hours though.
>>21797965is that toilet paper?
>>21798638Are you toilet paper?
just put the turkey in the oven. my mashed potatoes and gravy are pretty good, and i'm just gonna bake some onions for an hour. But I don't know what do with the carrots and parsnips besides boiling them then roasting them with a bit of fat.Any cool recipes?
>>21798694Ever try the White Castle stuffing recipe?
>>21798533Fuck you too
>>21798058One time I had Thanksgiving with an Italian family and it was just a regular dinner but someone also brought baked pasta. Incongruous.
>>21798536 several pounds of shellfish and salmon is property food?
>>21798536What is it with idiots calling things "poverty food" that aren't at all cheap, and haven't been for years? Do their parents just buy everything for them?
>>21798871faggots trying to make (You) seethe and succeeding at it
>>21798873What makes you think I'm seething?
>>21798027>that deli meat plate
I made corned beef roast, mashed potatoes and asparagus for the family since they weren't doing anything. It was good. Didnt take any picsWere going to my aunts tonight for Christmas day dinner. Im making mashed potatoes again but just twice as much.
Me Din Dins (posted a thread lads sorry)
>>21798943ummmm
siblings are coming round tomorrow for the full turkey dinner, mum insisted we(i.e me) still do a roast. tomorrow's will be more impressive, i was planning on just having a frozen pizza today
>>21798027are those clamless baked clams?
mom made beef jerky and sausage cheese balls. my cornbread is still in the oven
Someone mistaken my caramel sauce that I had on the dessert table for gravy and put it on their mash.
I don't interact with my family anymore. No more dinners. I'm getting Chinese tonight
My little doggies in bacon. There's 3 flavors: brown sugar, bbq, and texmex.
>>21798335I hate your stupid fucking polaroid gimmick you faggot
>>21799136Oh yeah, this is just sides/snack for our family gathering.
This is my Christmas dinner... I'm so lonely bros
>>21799153you have a cat though
>>21799153those are delicious. merry christmas and enjoy!
>>21799147you hate everything
>>21797965Dude, nice CorningWare. Wish I had my moms set. So many memorable meals served up in that old set of hers.
>>21797965Some good looking plates in the thread.I decided to combine a Full English with a Sunday Roast
Just put it in the oven
>>21798023>>21798027fish for christmas dinner is such a weird concept for me. very unappetizing imo. italians have it pretty bad.
>>21799288Fish is literally the Christian feast toughbeit
>>21799289Maybe but I'm not a disgusting poor so for me its tenderloin.
prime rib dinner for one eaten in my underwear next to my computer desk
>>21799340is that whore's radish? also how do you make your au jus? I'm trying different recipes and methods
>>21799340yeah it's creamy horseradish. because I'm lazy the jus is just on of those little jugs of concentrate mixed with 2 cups of water, a jar of some fancy bone broth, and the drippings from my roast. I'm going to make french dip sandwiches with my leftovers so I'll use the rest with those.
>>21799361I did a lazy version as well, basically just used a red wine stock pot, some water, and simmered it in the pan drippings and added some rosemary. It came out great, although next time I'll use orange juice instead of water for the stock, because it goes so well with beef
>tfw it's pointed out to you that you're the only single person showing up to the party, but then literally every couple there is clearly holding back an argument for the sake of appearancesThanksgiving was canceled this year, so we pretty much ate what we were going to have on that day>Turkey>Ham>Stuffing>Mac and Cheese>Potatoes>Collard Greens>Corn>Cranberry Sauce>Apple PieAll made by me.
>scan entire threadyeah, I fucking clear all of you easily and its not even close
>>21799420nice, how long are planning to cook that?
>>21799422>ermm why isn't this burnt, overseasoned and covered in gravy?seethe
>>21799426>mfw
>>21798491/pol/ here, i don't care how evil of a retarded bitch she is, that pussy ain't gonna eat itself; i will gladly eat her pussy 9 hours a day minimum.
Here's mine, Moggs most of the slop here
>>21798023>>21798027looks like shit you fuckin greasy guinea goomba wop dago
>>21799486You would say that? On my Mudda's birtday?
>>21798977Reusable clam shaped dishes so you can just use the meat and not the shell
>>21799484that does look pretty fucking delicious. you could be a little more kind though
>>21799486Eh watch it now..you trying to catch these hands ya little puzzoni?
>>21799484>literally just slopped onto the plate and coated in gravy, sugary jam, undercooked pigs in blankets, runner beans, meat that looks boiled, literal barf-looking shit at each sideliteral definition of slop, surprised you put this on a plate instead of into your trough.
The best part of the swedish christmas table is the herring and Janssons Temptation (ansjovis/potato gratin. I was in charge of the "gubbröra" (old man mix) which is basically herring, egg, potaties, dill, chives, mayo and creme fraice. Delicous! Gives you a good reason to try out some Snaps as well
