Post what you got anons. Received this "premium control" knife from my grandparents, I think they got swindled.
>>
>>21798190
why does the edge of that blade already appear dulled and, well, ruined?
pics need to be supplied for additional closer inspection anon

second thing, why does the wood appear so unfinished and rough, as if both the front and back of the wood handle look like they've been smashed / dinged up
wtf is going on with that knife OP
>>
This is a meme knife advertised on TikTok that’s useless for cooking. Was really popular about 2 years ago. Friend of mine got one and it’s shit. Edge profile is garbage for chopping due to its curvature, blade is ridiculously thick, and the finger hole is both rough and harsh and doesn’t work unless your hand is a specific size. For only a few dollars more you could get a nice gyuto or santoku that’s actually made by real Japanese knifemakers.

Smooth grips are garbage. A knife should be usable with oiled hands, otherwise it is FUCKING USELESS.

My folks got kinda ripped off on a knife for me too, bought a hunting/fishing knife from a friend who's a "knifemaker" but at most I think he just did the handles and sheath (which is also left-handed for some reason), the blade is an off the shelf one that says "Pakistan" right on it.

Is the hole in the middle for spinning it around your finger like a cowboy?

>>

Yeah, I got it from their factory sale, since I live pretty close. It's an import model but I really like it so far, paid $400 and it's way nicer than the entry-level Taylors and Martins I've tried.
>>
I got one of these, what am I in for
>>
>>21799224
nasty watery coffee
>>
>>21799225
So it's just normal coffee
>>
>>21799227
No, worse actually. The grounds don't have enough time sitting in the water to brew properly and it ends up not tasting as good.
>>
>>21799227
no, poorover is not normal coffee
>>
>>21799171
Nta, but my father says the same. You should have them return it or you symbolically buy it from them (i.e. Pay them 1¢ for it). Considering it's a bad knife they might as well return it.
>>
>>21799252
I know there's a special way to brew it, but is it that bad

I've been getting ads for those things on YT for years whenever Google figures out how to get past my adblockers, they're a manosphere tacticool version of the old "it can cut a can then slice a tomato" knife commercials that used to play late at night.

>>21799187
That's really common, you used to see tables with "handmade" knives at gun shows and you'd see like 3 of the same "handmade" knife on different tables at the same show. The modern equivalent is selling "handmade" stuff on Etsy/Amazon/etc. I can practically guarantee the sheath is from the internet and there's a good chance that the scales came with the knife if not already on it. Frankly I'd reconsider how much I trust that friend. Do you know how much they paid for it?
>>
>>21800348
it was my main Christmas present to myself

>>21800361
>Do you know how much they paid for it?
Way too much, enough to get a very decent production knife. The guy is my parents' good friend's boyfriend, but not close himself. I have, for what it's worth, talked knifemaking with him before and he mentioned putting handles on blanks so I assume that's the deal, especially because the scales are noticeably nicer than what I'd expect for the blade - I've seen those show booths so I know what you typically get.
>>
got a Brita water filter, herbal tea, Dots honey mustard pretzels, peanuts, two bags of coffee, swiss miss, chocolate stirring spoons, a spice rack (although garlic is missing for some reason) and a coffee bean grinder
>>
>>21798190
my uncle fell for this meme and got me one of these. the blade's sharp enough right now, but most new knives are.
what's the hole for? i tried putting my finger in it and it had jagged edges that could definitely draw blood if i used it long enough. my uncle says it's for hanging it somewhere. i thouth it'd be for control since the handle is pretty thin and flimsy
>>
>>21800988
>I thought it'd be for control
And you'd be right. You sometimes see it on /k/ and /out/ knives and that's the image they're trying to present which is why their marketing is "bad ass" and rugged guys with beards, at least from what I've seen. Hell, someone mentioned Coolina Knives earlier ITT and that's a name I haven't yet seen these knives marketed under so I went to their site and I'm seeing stuff that looks like copies of common mallninja shit presented as kitchen knives. They also definitely used to sell the knife in OP's pic, it's in some of their pics but no longer on their site. Those things seem to be sold under like half a dozen names, I had no idea this was so widespread.
