Hey /ck/, is it possible to reverse and cure diabetes? i was in a conversation that sounded insane, people were talking about not only curing diabetes in themselves and friends, but "reversing" it to a point where they strengthen their body against ever possibly getting the sugar.

Give it to me straight /ck/, could i have been enjoying myself and living off of ice cream and cake this whole time and big vegetable just wanted my money?

Yes, primarily through exercise, better diet, and overall losing weight.
One of the issues with diabetes is that incoming sugar has no place to go, liver and muscle glycogen is chronically full. It you exercise, regularly, you deplete both stores. Then if you eat something with sugar, it doesn't turn your blood into syrup, insulin will push it to storage that is now not full 100% of the time, it is accessible.

diabetes is genetic so in order to prevent it from developing further than it already has, you have to completely change your diet and start exercising every single day. you're not really curing your diabetes at that point, you're just managing it without medical intervention. If you go back to not exercising and eating a bunch of sugar your diabetes will immediately come back.

if something so basic as being a normal human being was the cure to this "disease" then why the fuck are there always people bitching about how deadly diabetes is and the price of treatment?

is there a /ck/ iceberg graph? Now i feel like diabetes is just a surface level issue, and the worlds just been blowing smoke up my ass about it affecting millions, while there is far deeper food issues to worry about like vaccines in our meat and yada yada.

is diabetes a similar reaction to kidney stones? My dad had them but i think he just turns into a glutton sometimes, but if developing kidney stones is also a genetic predisposition, that would be a little concerning even though i rarely eat sugary foods aside from my daily smoothies that i'm told are fine since they're full of fibers from the blended fruits.

you can get kidney stones from eating too much food that produces certain waste byproducts but it's mostly from not drinking enough water (in relation to these waste byproducts)

>if something so basic as being a normal human being
Exercise (especially daily, moderately intense) is not normal and has not been normal for a while, especially in regards to overeating sugar.

>is there a /ck/ iceberg graph? Now i feel like diabetes is just a surface level issue
Not only is it overall food choice (proper macronutrient ratios) but total calorie level and feeding windows. Total calories because you have a clearly defined excess for any given person/total daily energy expenditure, but also feeding windows in that you can have chronically high insulin/glucose due to eating all the fucking time because you're always hungry because you eat fast digesting trash (sugar, highly processed junk) and because eating (ie snacking) is just something to do with your hands.

Have pre set meal times (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or feel free to eat less frequently) composed of nutritious, whole foods that take longer (normal time really) to digest and keep you full until your next meal and don't snack (or drink) anything in between. Calories only consumed at meal times. This limits total calories so you don't have excess.

And also exercise. Resistance training is ideal to utilize glucose/glycogen already present in your body so any incoming carbs can actually go somewhere.

If you workout many muscles after (or just before) eating something sugary those muscles will absorb a lot of the sugar, you have 30 mins
The brain also uses some sugar...you can't reverse it i think

I heard that sumo wrestlers are the only obese people on the planet that don't get fat people disease i.e diabetes because they exercise daily. It's either exercise or keto if you want to cure your diabetes imo. (I am not a scientist but I have listened to JRE for over a decade)

Type 2 is completely curable (i.e. you will have no symptoms). Simply reduce carbs until symptoms go away, to absolute zero if need be. Its a disease of bein addicted to sugar. Type 1 is more complicated because these people are born with a genetic predeposition and its an autoimmune response.
>>
>reverse and cure diabetes

For type 2, I think a patient would have to get with a doctor to periodically monitor the insulin released by their pancreas. Just in case it somehow unfucks itself and starts working again because a cure sounds like bullshit. Or maybe find a curious researcher and offer your body as a sample.

Point is your type 2 pancreas is fucked because you fucked it up.

Gonna need you to zip up your pants lil bro, your reddit is showing.

How do muscles like absorbing lots of sugar? Has /fit/ been doing things wrong this whole time by not popping 3 Twinkies on an empty stomach 15 minutes before starting their routine?

i didn't even know /ck/ had muscle. i figured everyone here was a fat.

JRE is not Reddit. Literally all the subs used by JRE bros were banned years ago. The only one I can think of that still exists is /r/nootropics. People just love to hate on Joe Rogan on every side of the internet you dumb sheep.

>Its a disease of bein addicted to sugar.
It's a disease of overeating and not exercising enough. If you're not overweight it's much rarer to become diabetic even if you consume a lot of sugar.

The reasons for overeating can be a bit more complicated and it's not always a personal failure, but overeating is still the main cause.

>How do muscles like absorbing lots of sugar?
Your muscles and liver can store around a pound of sugar in the form of glycogen. It gets burned up pretty quickly during an intense workout. If you're not consuming enough carbs that's typically why your athletic performance can drop. Pretty much every high level athlete consumes lots of carbs for this reason.

The fact that you know even that much about reddit should be punishable by guillotine.

>is it possible to reverse and cure diabetes?
Depends on the type.
Type 2, which we now more commonly call non-insuling demanding diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), can be reversed in many cases with diet and exercise.
Did you know there are more than two types, by the way?

English speaking website, retard.
>>
>>21799816
Actually the correct form of English to use on the internet is broken English. Where do you think imageboards come from and MMORPGS and livestreams and IRC?
>>
>>21799815
Yeah just didn't know the differences. Always heard people freak the fuck out about it so figured it was like a near death sentence.

>>21799816
Based and 'call retards on the internet retard for being retarded' pilled. Thank you for your service.

It's possible to reverse the most common flavor of type 2 diabetes. The researcher that figured this out was awarded the 2012 Banting Prize by the American Diabetes Association
