>Hi welcome to Subway/McDonald's/Burger King etc. what can I get you
>Hi, can I get some food please
>No. Well technically yes.
>What do you mean "technically"? You're selling food right?
>Well there are traces of real food in here. But there's a bunch of other stuff that you probably don't want to eat. The chicken at Subway, for example, is mixed in with a bunch of soy. Under no other circumstance would you want to consume that much soy in a single meal.
>Ok can I just have the food without the other stuff then?
>No
>Why not?
>Because we make more money that way
>But I thought these types of businesses are about scale. You buy stuff in bulk from a supplier, you sell hundreds of these things at a location per day, isn't that how you make money? Couldn't you sell real food and make money just via scale?
>Potentially yes but we would make even more money doing the same thing with a worse product
>But why doesn't some other company come along and just sell real food and undercut you?
Why is it a choice between groceries and disgusting pseudo-food? Is it an information war where people don't know any better? Why is there no viable alternative to fast food where the food doesn't give you cancer?

There is though. You can just go to a groceries store and pick out pre made food if really have to. And get a head of lettuce to gnaw on.

Nigga, what is tofu?

>Why is there no viable alternative to fast food where the food doesn't give you cancer?
Maybe go to an actual restaurant?

Ok so eating at subway is equivalent to eating a plate of tofu. But I think the point still stands that most people would not willingly eat a plate of tofu.

>Maybe go to an actual restaurant?
To eat a sandwich? I think it is reasonable to question why you would have to go to an upscale restaurant before you can eat something like a sandwich without it being ruined by filler like soy. Is it seriously that expensive to provide these incredibly basic ingredients? If you had a bakery that was buying vegetables and some meat you would be most of the way there but even this is apparently outrageously prohibitive

This is the most autistic thing I've ever read on here, wtf!
Yes fastfood bad, we don't need a discussion between two Zuckerbergs about it.

Well your country just sucks Bakeries selling (overpriced) sandwiches is perfectly normal for bakeries in europe

You're grossly exaggerating the soy content of subway's chicken. Not that it matters anyway as there's plenty of other sandwich shops that are significantly less shit than subway.

>you would have to go to an upscale restaurant before you can eat something like a sandwich without it being ruined by filler like soy.
You don't have to go to a fine dining establishment. Just hit up a local diner or something and it's not gonna be that much more expensive than fast food nowadays.

It's normal here, too. OP's just retarded.
Any grocery store with a deli is gonna have sandwiches made from the same ingredients you would make one from at home.

Ok looks like the thread is over, let me just summarize this

Subway et al. being shit is fine because there's an industry of local bakeries that do fresh sandwiches without additives. If you take issue with this it is being you are american or from a bad country. The proper world has bakeries that do freshly baked bread without soy or anything extra, and they also act as a deli so you can just roll up on your bicycle wearing your beret and get a sandwich that has somehow sidestepped all of the problems with modern food.
