Can we have a cocktail general on /ck/?I love cocktails and finding new recipes and liquors to try so I want to exchange experience with my /ck/ bros.I also made a FAQ for anyone who'd want to get into cocktails but there's gaps in my knowledge so I'd appreciate any input you think would be useful for beginners.FAQ: https://pastebin.com/Mvtq2JrZSo>What cocktails have you been enjoying recently>What recent bottle purchase are you most happy with>What cocktail/liquor do you want to try in the near future
>>21800294These are probably decent
>>21800278Those are not the most popular one. Pic looks like it was made by Netflix to include garbage that nobody asked for.
>>21800278The only cocktails I really bother with are martinis. Anything else, I'd rather just have the whiskey straight.>>21800294>>21800300This is hillbilly shit
>>21800294absolutely vileand specifying brand names when it's not necessary is very low-brow
>>21800278>What cocktails have you been enjoying recentlyFeel more like Manhattans in winter>What recent bottle purchase are you most happy withOrdered a few fortified wines - Sherry, Port, Marsala and Madeira. Haven't tried the Madeira and Port was a tad too sweet for me, but really enjoyed the Sherry and Marsala, very fruity. Now I need to find some recipes that include them.>What cocktail/liquor do you want to try in the near futureWant to get my hands on some Mezcal, never tried it.
>>21800334>>21800335You are both uncultured troles
>>21800328>Those are not the most popular one. Please look at the image, especially the first line where it says "Classic Cocktails"
>>21800294I miss this nigga
is egg nog a cocktail?
>>21800278Nice thread OP. I've also been getting into cocktails lately, after spending most of my adult life just drinking beer and wine. I've spent about £80 on spirits and liqueurs over the past week. So far my favourite cocktail is a snowball. I'm not a fan of white russians, I find them a bit too bitter for my taste. Maybe I'll develop more of a taste for the drier cocktails over time.
>>21801302>snowballWhat recipe are you using? I'm finding multiple ones, but the one that's most common is made with Advocaat. That's a shame, I don't think I can find it here
>>21800278I like to make jungle birds:1.5 oz black strap rum (cruzan makes one and myers rum also works)1.5 oz pineapple juice3/4 oz campari~1/2 oz demara syrup (I can never find this shit so I usually use agave syrup, you'd hardly notice the difference)Juice of 1/2 to a whole lime1. Pour ingredients into cocktail shaker2. Add ice3. Mix in the usual manner4. Serve, most recipes say to garnish with pineappleYou can also do a split base version of this with 1/2 rum and 1/2 gran marnier which is possibly even better than the normal cocktail, depending on your personal taste.
rate my old fashioned:>1 sugar cube>put in rocks glass with thick glass >1 splash of soda water>4 dash black walnut bitters>muddle it>swirl it around til becomes a grainy syrup>1 large ice cube>2.5 oz of 100+ proof rye (just use rittenhouse)>pour over cube >1 lemon peel, express over glass>1 orange peel, express over glass>1 amarena cherry with a teaspoon of the syrup (no more, no less)>1 cinammon stick>stir with the cinammon stick until glass is frosted>chill drink in freezer while you clean up>voilà
>>21802864>~1/2 oz demara syrup (I can never find this shit so I usually use agave syrup, you'd hardly notice the difference)are any of these syrups actually shelf stable? once every couple of months i get the idea of making my own syrup and then i see they're good for like 3-4 weeks, so i either have to make a pathetic amount of it or get stuck with drinking only cocktails that use syrup. so i give up on the ideasounds good otherwise, big fan of triple sec cocktails, i wrote it down for when the weather gets warmer.
