My kid eats everything but chard and most preparations of button mushroom. Other mushrooms are okay and he'll eat button if cooked as mushroom crisp (a steak topping for where I'm from) or sliced thin and fried with onion to make mushroom cheesenotsteak.
We don't go out to eat/get takeaway/get delivery very often. Other than some supermarket bites here or there, I don't think we got any takeaway in the last year.
Wait.
No.
I got Checkers on my own. Had an appt near a checkers location and they had that $4 deal.
>>21812517
Pretty sure that if you're a regular WSJ reader, the numbers are accurate to you.
People on this site are so stricken by poor money management skills that they can't understand how I managed to own one house outright (no mortgage) by 30 and buy a second rental property (fucking mortgage) iN tHiS eCoNoMy. Yeah, my wife and I ain't earning WSJ incomes, but we're also not frivolous with our money.
Jesus fuck, i took a neighbour with me shopping yesterday. All I was getting was a space heater ($15), a humidifier ($15), 10lbs of carrots ($5), 20oz of garlic ($4.59) and some instant emergency rice ($2.59). She complained that she had no food in the house so I took her with me and she complained about spending "$50 on nothing" on the drive back. What did she get? $3 bowls of premade salad. Lots and lots and lots of them. Also a big ass bag of dog food. She could've gotten lettuce and dressing and made as many salads herself for a fraction the cost, but no. It's things like that sort of mindless spending that makes my generation unlikely to own homes. It doesn't sound like much now, but take the example of coffee. Same neighbor goes down the corner every morning for coffee. Back when I showed her how much she was waiting, it was $5 a cup. I'm sure it's more now. Anyway, $5×365=$1825. That's more than I pay in annual tax on my homestead property.

I’m a homeowner too but I’m not a faggot about it.
What even brought about your rant? Those incomes have nothing to do with spending habits. Unless you’re suggesting the $1825 should be invested into the stock market and then people could reach the memes proposed incomes?
The eCoNoMy runs on consumption, constantly telling people to tighten their belts is retarded.
If our version of a capitalist economy is so great why are we being told to spend less AND that we’re killing industries by not spending more?
Only a retard cuck looks around after Covid and believes everyone should stick to the necessities without collapsing the economy.
Corporations aren’t capitalist anymore though, they’re too shortsighted to pay their workers enough to participate more in the economy and keep shit moving. More interested in having tax payers subsidize their workforce and then wonder why no one is buying their $20 meals

Wow. This is more of a sad cuck mindset than I realized. Holy shit.
We shouldn't care about expenses brought on by shitty government and "muh programs", we should just stop doing things we enjoy.
Ahhh what an ideal life that would be, why oh why can't more people live to prioritize the government funding?
Why do people want to work and then spend money on things they enjoy? Who cares if the dollar can buy less and less over time, why would they want more dollar instead of less things they enjoy?
My god
What a way to live.
>>
>>21819007
Only had to read your first sentence to know you're a literal child.
What's better, kiddo: living with your $5 daily coffee in perpetual fear of tax foreclosure or simply having that coffee less often and paying that shit off? Because those are her options. As an adult, she has responsibilities and one of those responsibilities is property tax. Failure to pay said tax can lead to tax foreclosure and government seizure of the property. It already happened to her once before with her ex husband (she didn't own the house, he did), which led to their divorce so she should very much know better.
You, however, don't need to know better because your biggest concern right now is whether to ask Kaylen, Braelyn or Jalyn to the sockhop or whatever you kids get up to these days.
I'd say that you'll understand when you're older but I'm going to guess the rest of your post is in defence of poor fiscal responsibility which would strongly imply that you will never be a homeowner to have these problems, anyway.
Enjoy renting!

I'm just not a cucklord, and I want the economy to actually function instead of roller coaster.
Obviously, pay your taxes.
The point is there is an inflation problem, and lecturing people about how you made it and everyone should just swallow the nut instead of demand change is pathetic.
As the poor get poorer, who do you think gets raided for resources first? The politicians who cause shit economies or people like you and me?
You've got your head in the sand because you feel morally superior for your fragility.
I'm conservative with my money but I'm not an idiot and see the writing on the wall as people work more for less. It's stupid as fuck to believe if everyone tightens their belt now and forever, the world won't go to shit.
You know there's tons of idiots around, we don't need those idiots revolting over their meager QOL diminishing.

The recession after COVID increased the K-shaped economy America had been nurturing dramatically.
With the 3rd largest sector by # of employees being leisure & hospitality, and the most struggling industries being travel, hospitality, and food service, I really thought even a retard like you would realize that's a problem!
But alas, you're retarded AND self-righteous, the worst kinda of retarded.

Can you put together why that might be a problem worth caring about? Even if you don't work in those industries?

Believe me, I'm aware. I hate to be that guy, but my son is practically an angel compared to some of these "kids today."
My wife's best friend has a daughter and she regularly dictates meals to them. I'm reminded of Angelica in Rugrats. Remember she forced her parents to have chocolate chip pancakes for dinner a few times per week or the famous scene where Stu "lost control" of his life because he's making pudding at 3 in the morning? That type of shit.
It's baffling to me that some parents let their kids get out of hand like that. Learning "no" is good for children.

Follow up reference picture of k shape.
Beginning with the offshoring of American manufacturing, wage stagnation has contributed to the middle class shrinking.
What happens when wages stagnate? Spending stagnates, and economic growth slows. Money moving in the stock market is not actually more important than dollars exchanged for goods and services.
That's exactly what we saw with the COVID economy. Dollars stopped being spent, stock value crashed. Investors bought the dip, and now the stock market is back up but the average American's dollar is worth less.
>>
>>21819007
>SHE SHOULD REDUCE HER QUALITY OF LIFE TO PAY FOR TAXES
It’s called prioritisation and it’s a valuable life skill.
Same as how so many ‘poor’ people order DoorDash ten times a week to eat in front of their funko pop collection while dreaming of making it big designing the next big LGBTQ furry RPG.
>>
>>21819242
What is the point of capitalism if not to lift society up out of bare subsistence and toiling of economic systems past?
What was sold to America in the 50's s an ideal?
Why have we always bragged about being the powerhouse of commerce and economy?
What leads to innovation?
What keeps capitalism going?

Consumer participation, consumer needs, the freedom of time and resources to pursue in new ideas. All of that is shrinking, and being suffocated by policy makers new and old. Good god some of them are so old, and have the audacity to blame someone else for policies they all voted for.

Another thing that's stupid - The practice of buying a failing business and crashing it harder.
Real people work for every single one of these companies. How is it acceptable or justified for the employees to get shit canned because a firm bought the company for the purpose of short-term capital extraction?
It's not even new, we have acknowledged the practice and done nothing about it for decades.
I'll take this moment to remind everyone that the economy, including the stock market, runs on dollars exchanged for goods and services.

I defer you back here:
Is it stupid to spend your money on unnecessary shit before paying your bills?
Yes, obviously
But the conversation can't be had without acknowledging we live with majority stupid people in society.
You can't be an illogical, idealistic faggot about how people should be smarter. The economy is changing and math is hard for stupid people.
We can address issues regardless of how stupid everyone is though, like the rising COL. You have to actually give a shit about your stupid neighbor, and acknowledge the value of participating in the economy.

Let me know if you need that broken down more.

Why did Elliot Roger separate the fish from the rice?

We have a wonderful and quaint sushi restaurant within biking distance of our suburban Colorado home. It has thousands of 5 star reviews and they deserve every single one. The quality and presentation is incredible. Same people who work there every day. My family of four is there weekly, and since my daughter was 4, she's filled out the sushi card herself. It opened her up to eating and trying any food, and she truly loves devouring sashimi with me while my wife and son eat their cooked entrees. Sometimes its just the two of us and they always seat us right at the sushi bar without asking and bring us our usual drinks; lemonade with extra lemons for her, and a green tea and small hot sake for me.

He's smart. The rice is only there to fill you up so you eat less of the fish.

I love how uncomfortable everyone gets and how ideologically frayed the cope is becoming whenever the staggeringly wide gaping-canyon divide between the western economo-social classes gets brought up. It's like forcing someone to smell a fart.

I live in Japan and average people have none of this insane mystical sushi fetishim coastal white dweebs seem to obsess over. We go to restaurants where the sushi is served on super fast conveyer belts that come straight to you after ordering through a touchscreen and you eat it any way you want

Sushi in my country is either over the top expensive even at low tier restaurants
OR
it's super mega cheap.
No in between.

I think they all get their sushi from the same supplier using the same "sushi kit"

honest question
can i make my own raw sushi?
i'm allowed to dipnet so i sometimes have a ridiculous amount of salmon and flounder in my freezer
is there some reason i can't eat these ones raw?
i often see people just slurping the eggs out when they catch them. if that doesn't make you sick why would the filet?
>>
>>21823434
The parasites aren’t in the eggs, they’re in the meat. If it’s been frozen for 7 days, they should be dead though and you can thaw and eat raw
Some do just take the risk and eat it raw but \_(^^)_/
Whatever you’re willing to risk
>>
>>21823434
>can i make my own raw sushi?
Sure. You should know what you're doing so you don't risk infecting yourself with something, but otherwise that's fine.
>is there some reason i can't eat these ones raw?
Are you confident there are no parasites in any of them?
>i often see people just slurping the eggs out when they catch them. if that doesn't make you sick why would the filet?
Common parasites live in the muscle tissue of the fish. If they tried to live in an egg they would quickly kill the egg and then themselves, so eggs are less dangerous. It's still not a very good idea to eat raw unless you're familiar with the prevalence of parasites in the waters they came from.
If you aren't really sure, it's a much better idea to flash freeze your fish for a while to kill any potential parasites before thawing out the filet and preparing it to eat raw.
>>

>>21823445
i'm not willing to risk much because it also tastes good baked
i also check halibut and flounder because they get sea lice(idk if that is the right name?) idk how to check the inside of the meat for parasites. i suppose i have more research to do.
what do the restaurants do when serving raw meat? just the freezing?
>>
>>21823442
>If it’s been frozen for 7 days,
It has to be frozen at a certain temperature too, not just time. Home freezers typically aren't cold enough to kill all parasites.
>>
>>21823453
Also farmed fish is typically free of parasites, it's only really a concern with wild fish. But freezing won't kill bacteria.
>>
>>21823453
7 days is what comes up for normal freezer temperature, everything else is less than that. I’m not one to try this desu so again \_(^^)_/

>>21823458
Farmed fish has a gross texture compared to wild caught when raw. I have done that before, just thawed some grocery store farmed fish. Absolutely not worth it, hated it.
It’s good enough for baked dishes though

This is the secret to the Japanese being so thin despite eating loads of rice. Every Jap has a tapeworm stealing half of the food they eat.
