What are your best/favorite sick meals?
Eat, comforting, actually good for you, i don’t care.
I would just like to read some sick meals

Depends of what I am sick and how bad it is.
Last year I spent 5 days with fever over 35C and puking a lot. and the only thing I managed to eat and keep down was baby food and water.

When I’m sick I just go to the fridge and pull one of these out and take it back to bed
>>
>>21817013
my easiest is just getting a rotisserie chicken from whatever store has one and noodle soup with some basic frozen veggie. cook it all in a decent broth and boom soup for days
>>
>>21817013
Tomato soup and grilled cheese. Note: I don't use the cans of tomato soup. It's just as easy and way tastier to just mix cream and a can of tomato puree along with garlic/paprika/onion powder. Tastes like 10x better and almost as easy. Always make it if I feel sick
>>
chicken soup
poach two chicken breasts in vegetable broth
shred em
sautee onion, celery, carrot, tomato paste, garlic
add chicken and stir for a few minutes
add broth
add broccoli, radish, cauliflower rice
spice with cumin, nutmeg, allspice
simmer 20 minutes
salt to taste
to serve, add a splash of cream and top with chopped green onions

Chicken soup is the stereotypical sick meal for a reason. Some good looking recipes here, but probably more effort than I want to put in when I'm sick. Plus, if it's a cold it might screw with your sense of taste. I just heat a can or two of the condensed stuff, no water or anything else. Maybe a little black pepper. Next time I get sick, I'll probably put a little butter in it, no more than a tablespoon.
>>
I just make whatever requires the least possible effort
>>

when I am sick I generally don't feel like eating. but usually something simple.

I don’t eat when I’m sick. I just drink beer and smoke weed all day.

When I am sick, I always just crave the shittiest fast food. I don't know why because I never eat fast food, maybe it's some comfort thing. I will eat 2-3 mcdonalds burgers.
>>
>>21817430
something tells me that’s what you do every day
>>
A strong hot Ribena (blackcurrant cordial) used to be my go-to (strong, syrupy, lots of vitamins). Then thanks to the sugar tax they replaced all the sugar with sweetener and it's just disgusting.
>>
>>21817481
No. I only smoke a little weed before bed unless I’m sick and I only have a couple beers after work while cooking and eating dinner unless I’m sick. I never get sick btw so I very rarely drink and smoke all day. The last time I was sick was in November 2023 with a week long cold (not kung flu, my doc tested me) and I drank a twelve pack everyday and smoked a big joint every few hours.
>>
>>21817090
>robably more effort than I want to put in when I'm sick.
Italian delivery. Every mom n pop italian restaurant will have homemade soup of the day, pasta fagioli, minestrone, and if you're lucky stracciatella. Order some nice bread, and if you keep it down, get your 2meal on hand too. Another soup maybe? Also get a nice batch of alfredo or similar, and a nice dessert. Be mindful.
Same idea for a basic won ton soup or hot n sour or egg drop soup. Dumplins or rice, you can pick someone soothing like moo goo gai pan.

Latino restaurants have really homey soups, with a wedge of lime, simple bread roll, maybe some beans and rice or plantains. I'm a sucker for tortilla soup. Rice pudding or flan.

At home, if I am prepared, I have a cut up frozen chicken to place in the crock pot, dried dill, sliced carrots, onions, and soup is nearly done with just a box of matzo ball soup mix. Egg noodles or making dumplings from bisquick is fast. I probably get a box of jello and canned fruit chilling down into the fridge as soon as I'm able.
Feel better!

As stereotypical as it sounds, canned chicken noodle soup. Last time I got really really sick was a couple years ago, I didn't eat anything of substance for days until I found a can of campbell's in the back of the cupboard. Now I keep one on standby.

not a meal but chamomile tea with honey, ginger and lemon, preferably adding those three things yourself as the pre-flavored teas suck.

Try some romanian meatball soup.

Just follow what the guy in the video does and add some lemon juice or vinegar at the end because it's supposed to be a little sour.

There are a bunch of recipe videos out there but this is the best IMO, the rest of them kinda fall short. It's in romanian but you can turn on the captions.

Depends on your situation. Got someone you can depend on? They should be bringing you soup, water/electrolyte drinks, medicine and keeping your area clean.
Live alone but are fully stocked? Ensure or fruit for breakfast if you aren't sleeping thru, canned soup and Gatorade for lunch and dinner
Total loser? Pho or wonton/egg drop soup delivery

>>21817013
Soup rice.
Just heat up some chicken broth, add a bunch of spices, and pour it over white rice. Add corn, diced carrots/onions/broccoli, and some chicken or sausage.
Honestly, I make the shit even when I'm not sick. Its comfort food for me.

This stuff is a magic potion for sickness, I swear. I keep 2 cartons of it in my house at all times just in case. I heat it up and drink it like tea.

If I need to eat some food, I go with plain white rice and steamed frozen peas.

Those 3 are easy to make when I barely want to leave the bed, and they never make me want to keep vomiting. Drink water too! Even if you have to force some down!

I've been mostly feverish, coughing and congested. Have been living off water, tea, fizzy vitamin c drink, and slices of bread.
Finally felt like making something, and I fucked it up a little.
Rice with egg, cream, mirin, salt, and pepper. Must be short grain rice.
I overcooked it a little, not as creamy as I normally like but it feels goooood to eat real food.
I appreciate all the responses, hopefully I'll remember to plan ahead and keep stock and soup in my cabinets
>>
>>21817013
plov

pour oil in pot
chop up meat and fry
add whatever else you want to fry
then add water and stew it with whatever else you wanna add and add rice on top but dont let it mix with the water and then add some water on top of the rice and let it steam until cooked

if done correctly most of the soupyness and oil will have evaporated and then you stir your rice in and it will absorb any left over flavour juice and then serve in big bowl
serves one hungry anon

tater salat is gud abswell :DD

steamed and salted brockliy is gewd when sick and so is chicken and or muhshroom soopb

Chicken Bake
>1lb boneless chicken breast (butterflied)
>salt + pepper + desired spices on the chicken
>place into high-walled baking dish
>1 can of cream of mushroom soup
>1 can of mixed vegetables (juice included)
>1 small onion (or 1/2 large onion) chopped into bite sized bits
>2 cloves of garlic (3 if you're REALLY sick) minced
>2 tbsp of butter
>chicken stock or powdered bullion, mixed into water, enough to cover the chicken with liquid
>bake chicken on 350F until chicken is done all the way through

When I'm sick with the flu I usually eat whatever is lying around as long as it can be hot, eat as much as I can and then get in bed under a pile of blankets and sweat out the flu while some audiobook plays in the background.
My mom used to make congee or chicken soup with cheese sandwiches and then some sliced mango or whatever fruit in a bowl.
>>
>>21817013
It depends by what sickness you have.
Anyway, usually when i'm sick i get well soon if i follow a liquid only diet. That means:
>water, of course
>broth, every kind with nothing inside
>Gatorade or energade, for electrolytes
>vitamines, in effervescent tablets
>yogurt, for lactic ferments
>herbal teas, as your choice
This work very good for stomach sickness and flu.
If i have a cold or cough (no headache and guts are fine) i can add the followings:
>Jagermeinster
It's wonderful for a sore troath and cough
>Cognac
Good for a flu
>Rhum punch
As above

In this way i can recover in a 2 or 3 days maximum. Yes, it makes to lose a lot of weight which may be a bonus.

I've been smoking since 1999. I'm well aware of the THC arms race among growers that has made modern weed a different animal than it was even as recently as 15 years ago. The other cannabinoids besides THC that make for an even nice high have been bred out in favor of the most THC possible. There are still lots of growers who grow full spectrum legacy strains that aren't insane THC bombs, even in legal states, but you have to find them and avoid the corporate dispensaries.
