CCC COmbo breaker

Canned chili is literally disgusting. I just had some the other week.
>>
>>21817767
in the last week, I've tried smoked salmon (boxed), canned corned beef, and canned chicken sandwich spread.
they all had that nasty canned smell and flavor to them.

surprisingly, I don't notice that in canned spam (and related luncheon meats).
>>
>>21817773
Is spam good? Never had it but plan on buying it soon. I want to make spam and eggs

you may be surprised to know there is even meatless canned chili. I’ve tried 2 and they were absolutely disgusting. which is a shame because my problem with canned chili is that there’s just no way around the ground beef being gross.

It pretty much tastes like salt unless you get the low sodium version, which is pretty decent for what it is.

I like it as an alternative to ham or hotdog in fried rice.
for me, I'll describe it as a saltier and more flavourful ham. again, it doesn't have a canned taste or smell to it which is a massive plus.
>>

Never had Stagg but Hormel and Wendy's both taste too much of tomato sauce more than chilis for me, that's why I prefer Wolf. I don't taste tomato barely at all in it, mostly just beefy and peppery

Also hate how Wendy's uses green capsicum, at that point it just tastes like a Sloppy Joe in a bowl
>>
>>21817767
Some of them you can tell the ingredients are actually good, but no matter what if it's canned it has this certain flavor to it I'm gonna guess a preservative of some type
>>
>>21817801
Some Australian girl on r9k the other day told me they call bell peppers capsicum in Australia. Are you talking about bell pepper?

I'll rinse and dump a can of beans into random shit for fiber and protein satiety (when cooking for myself). Salads, sauces, mush some red beans and smear it on toast with everything seasoning and olive oil, beans are the perfect food. It won't be ze bugs we eat during the apocalypse. It'll be beans.
>>
>>21817813
I made threads here saying that canned tomatoes tastes like metal. I got a bunch of screeching replies saying that I was wrong.
>>
>>21817745
Still not chili. That's just a Sloppy Joe can.

Beanless chili is just sloppy Joe mix.
>>
>>21817798
To be fair, anon, it's just pork shoulder, potato starch, and salt. It basically is just ham.

taste like dog food

you can't have beans in chili.
once you add beans it becomes bean casserole.

2 on the right aren't even chili, they're "hot dog sauce"
>>
>>21818127
If you encounter chili that's really chili ( no tomato sauce) it probably has no beans, because the person making it knows what chili is and isn't from the northwest/East Coast

Sloppy Joe mix is beef, tomato sauce, and chunks of green pepper. That's exactly what most chili with beans is, sans beans
>>
>>21819113
Yeah, that's what I just said.
>>
>IT'S NOT CHILI IF YOU ADD BEANS!
>IT'S NOT CARBONARA IF YOU ADD CREAM!
yeah whatever faggots, keep sobbing about it
Maybe you can start crying that it's not a sandwich if I have egg on it or how not it's not a phone if it has a screen or some other asinine fucking thing
>>
>>21818475
You clearly don’t know what a casserole is.
>>
>>21820344
They're total posers. They just think this because thats the way official chili cookoffs are usually held.

Yeah and then you take the winner and add some fuckin beans! We're having a meal for dinner not a chili cookoff.
>>
>>21820384
And I'm not dirt poor so I can afford the extra lb of meat instead of adding beans as filler

Reminder, even canned chili with beans is almost a dollar cheaper than the no bean variety.

Chili man. It’s for me. He hands a can to me personally when I ask. No beans of course.
>>
>>21817779
I always assumed you were supposed to add meat to these.

>>
>>21821341
The protein content of canned chili w/ beans and w/o is similar. The small amount of "protein" from the beans is obviously worthless, but this indicates to me that they're not adding much more actual meat to compensate. What I tend to see is much more fat instead.
>>
>>21817745
Instapot type pressure cookers make cooking beans a breeze. Just made a big pot of lentils and smoked ham hocks. $5 for 5 or 6 meals.
>>
>>21817745
It's not chili if it doesn't have beans. It's just meat stew.
>>
What's with millennials acting like every random brown poverty cuisine has strict rules as though it was French Haute? It's all poverty food that makes the best of scarcity, there are no rules. You can add whatever you want to these dishes. They haven't earned the right to be codified like cuisines that originated as professional trades for the upper classes.

French is gay, real men don't eat or speak it. Nobody is impressed by your LARP as Rarity from little pony

Chili is an ancient Mesoamerican stew of tomatoes, chili peppers and beans, meat was always optional and could be whatever was on hand, including dog.

You sound retarded. Is that why you care about brown poveryslop so much?
>>
>>21821764
No, legitimately, like if you had some leftover meats, just chuck it into a pot with a can of that 'vegetarian' chili. Grilled out and had a couple burgers left over? Slice them up and into the pot they go, five minutes later you'd have 'ok' chili, probably better than normal canned chili. I assumed skipping the meat meant they have better quality other ingredients, but it's probably all just tomato sauce and salt now that I'm thinking about it.
